"Good news : Everything from here is a downhill walk. Everything was clean, modern, and in good repair. My first floor single on the all female floor was very cozy. Window opened. Desk top fan provided. No air conditioning. The first day my room was VERY hot when I returned because the summer sun was beating into my room. "There was an issue with an amenity listed on the Expedia app not being available for my room, and the other rooms were already taken. The company provided a partial refund to amend the missing amenities. I was disappointed to not have the amenity, but happy that the company took my complaint seriously and worked to improve the situation."

"For the price, it’s the best! The staff prioritize cleanliness and have certain rules that make staying in the shared pods even better. I have literally no complaints I stayed there for 3 days. It was peaceful. Thank you! I’ll definitely visit again in the future."

"Was happy with the staff at United..unfortunately not so impressed with 'wotif' ( third party booking ).. Got to United only to find there was no room available ( one i had book 2 months in advance)..Had booking references Numbers and whats more ..i actually rang the hotel 2 minutes after i had made the booking ( just to confirm) and they said yes all is fine?? After a 45 minute wait while staff located us a room we had somewhere to stay..( myself and my two sons) one of which was flying out...

"The new paint? and new carpet smells were very strong and I had a headache from the offgassing. Great kitchen- well stocked and great systems. The bunks are bunks- my top mate moved so much and shook my bed, I didn't sleep well for a couple of the nights I was there. Loved the recommendations they have all over. Excellent hostel."

"As an old guy, HiT was quite satisfactory. There are music venues close by, noise was an issue one night. The common areas could do with a spruce up .. "

"Awful. No bath mat, soap, bin, glass/cup. Filthy lockers, poop in toilet. Holes in walls, filthy walls. Tv ripped off wall. One neighbour making disgusting noises, clearly very ill. Another screaming super offensive abuse. Nearly called police. Extremely upset. Felt very unsafe."

"We booked this property because it was a handy location, unfortunately we had also booked it because it said we could have 3 separate beds and because I was booking it for 3 students that didn't really know each other it was appropriate they have their own beds. I have just been told they were only provided with a double and single bed. This has put me in a rather awkward position. They were not confident to ask for this to be changed."

"The most disappointing thing about this place was the bathroom facilities. There was mould everywhere in the shower - up the walls, on the ceiling. The shower curtain looked liked it hadn't been changed in decades...it was scary to touch. The place also smelled of cigarettes....not very pleasant. While it is a hostel, I have certainly stayed in better hostels both in Auckland and major cities around the world. By far the worst hostel I have stayed in."

"Have stayed a number of times because they let us bring our dog. Great location, reception staff very friendly and helpful. Apartments are roomy, clean, comfortable. Would be nice to have Sky sport for the price paid for the rooms."

"Amazing stay! Miguel at concierge desk helped me locate documents that were left at the airport earlier in the morning. He went over and above to help me. So grateful for his help. I highly recommend this hotel. In addition the rooms were very accommodating and easy check-in. I rarely leave reviews but this hotel was outstanding! "

Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, an IHG Hotel

"Friendly, helpful staff; Clean room and facilities; Great breakfast; Good sized clean room with fridge and microwave; Great location, Great view, Taxi's right out front of hotel; Lots of shops, grocery stores and restaurants close. Didn't like: how the bathroom door served as a combo for the shower and door to bathroom & we had a room with a "connecting" door; do not get this unless you're sharing with family or friends; the person in the other room was very ill and we could hear coughing and other unpleasant sounds."
