Perfection in Tuscany
It would be very difficult to adequately describe the wonders and pleasures of Villa San Piero. It is a dream: balm for every sense. Without a doubt the best vacation destination to which I and my friends and family have ever been. Set in a milieu of incomparable beauty, the property is a thoughtfully restored house and chapel in which the mastery of old technique and the environmentally sustainable efficiencies of modern architecture are combined to perfection. The rooms are well appointed, the kitchens are stocked with every possible appliance and convenience. As the sun moves across the horizon, you can enjoy every vista—all have been provided with a place to dine or to simply enjoy the view. The pool is a miracle of design overlooking vineyards and forests. The landscaping ensures that, in summer, color erupts and moves around the house. From the lavender beds to the lemon and olive trees, and the herb gardens—it’s just stunning. And you are less than an hour from Florence, and from Siena. The little town of Panzano is fun and full of excellent little bars and delis. The concierge/manager is fantastic and can arrange anything—from transport to cooking classes to perfect wine tours in local vineyards. She gives superb advice and the grounds are constantly and beautifully maintained. The owners are generous and… it just couldn’t be better. If there were 10 stars to be given, we would definitely do so!

A one-of-a-kind property
This is truly a unique and stunning property. Four couples decided travel together in Tuscany to celebrate recent retirements. We are all "foodies" and had a very specific punchlist of what we were looking for in a villa. Here's what we found: Upscale kitchen - You get not one, but two kitchens in this property! The main floor kitchen is a bit small, but loaded with first class cooking tools and appliances. The lower level kitchen is spectacular with plenty of cookware and dishes. If you like to cook in style, you'll find it here. Multiple dining areas - we wanted to have both a covered loggia and a great indoor dining option. This place is amazing. We celebrated at the long table in the lower level in the evening, lunched in the main floor dining area, ate grilled foods on the magnificent covered loggia and breakfasted in the old church ruins. Each was a memorable experience. Private baths - With four couples, we preferred four ensuite bedrooms. This property offers two ensuite units, a third on the main floor with a full bath across the hall and fourth bedroom upstairs with an attached bath, but with access by a fifth bedroom. All four of the bedrooms used were far enough apart that privacy was ensured. However, if you are traveling with a fifth couple, bedroom four would be sharing a bath. We had no problem with the configuration. Swimming pool - This place has a spectacular terrazzo pool with several large umbrellas for shade. It is truly an oasis that you will spend much time at. As a note, you can pay to have it heated. However, the water was in the low eighties when we were there and didn't require it. A view - I've saved the best for last. The view out of the property is absolutely stunning. The villa is perched on top of a rise that overlooks magnificent vineyards, trees and other villas perched on other hills. When you're at the pool, you're looking at some of the most spectacular scenery around. I sat in the loggia most mornings with a cup of coffee and just stare into the distance. It's unbelievable! Other pluses - Terrific lighting throughout. A classic stone structure with modern amenities. Beautiful grounds. Private. Plenty of parking. Only one con - No air conditioning. This will only impact you based on when you travel. The stone structure and valley cooled down into the low sixties and sleeping was good. But, if temps hit 100 degrees, you may be uncomfortable. Highly recommended villa!

The most amazing Tuscany vacation at the nicest villa ever
We stayed at Villa San Piero for 10 nights, a group of 9. The villa has absolutely everything we dreamt of: breathtaking views, privacy, all the space to enjoy the vacation, both indoors and outdoors, two fully equipped kitchens, large, comfortable bedrooms with luxury bathrooms, and medieval history combined with most modern amenities. One of the patios is a former 13th century church, and a large part of the villa walls are probably just as old. Meanwhile, everything has recently been renovated, and all of the appliances and interior features are very modern and top of the line. The house is located in the very heart of Chianti. It is within walking distance to the amazing Osteria Le Panzanelle (remember to book your meals a few days in advance!), and an hour or hour and a half drive away from the cities of Siena, Florence, San Gimigiano, Volterra, Arezzo. It's the most perfect spot, whether for staying in the neighborhood and enjoying the countryside, or as a basecamp for sightseeing the Tuscan cities where the Italian Renaissance was born and flourished. On top of that all, the villa is kept unbelievably clean and meticulously taken care of, and the property manager, Natalia, has been most helpful throughout our stay. We couldn't recommend this villa highly enough!!!

The authentic and comfortable interior design, its history, the fully equipped kitchen, well-kept garden with turquoise water pool and of course, the old chapel where we spent a few emotional family dinner by the candlelight. Villa San Piero: Island of Beauty and Peace
My wife and I habe traveled the world and we are used to every comfort luxury hotels provide. Given the special circumstances we are currently in, we decided to rent a private Villa for the first time and we truly enjoyed it. Villa San Piero is a - one - of - a - kind piece of beauty, history and luxurious comfort. We felt welcome and home from the very first moment. Words and pictures don‘t do justice to the love and attention the owners put into the restoration of this historical building. Clearly - there is no better place to experience Tuscany‘s beauty, food, wine and hospitality than Villa San Piero. The owners and the property manager Natalia are taking the best care of their guests in giving personal recommendations for sightseeing trips, restaurants and all kinds of activities. We will certainly be back with family and friends next year! Dr. A. G.

Bliss in Lucarelli
We spent a fabulous two-weeks in San Piero in August and were very sorry to leave! The house, grounds and pool are superb. It's evident that a lot of love and care has gone into everything, with great attention to every detail - from top-notch kitchen equipment (including a first-class oven, sharp knives and no shortage of utensils or crockery), to quality poolside furniture, travertine stone around the pool (which was always amazingly cool underfoot) to fine cotton bed linen. We can be sticklers on detail but San Piero came up trumps on every measure for us. The online photos are fine but don't fully capture the warmth of the house and just how lovely it all is. From the outset, all communication with Walburga was excellent and the house manager, Natalia, gave us a very warm welcome notwithstanding our late arrival and came by to say goodbye in person the morning we were leaving. Walburga had left us some thoughtful gifts, including wines and homemade liqueur and jams, plus some spot-on restaurant recommendations. We were made to feel most welcome the minute we set foot on the property. The location of the house is perfect, with stunning views, including from the pool, and easy access for sightseeing in the region along with terrific local restaurants. I cannot recommend San Piero highly enough if you are seeking relaxation in a meticulously cared-for home in fabulous surroundings. We would love to return.....

Perfect Location and Time to visit Tuscany
The Villa – a 5 Star experience: Historic, beautifully renovated Villa with attached church embedded in a lovely garden with spectacular view. The Pool – Caribbean feeling: Natural stone pool, turquoise shimmering saltwater, the infinity edge gives a full view over rolling hills with vineyards while swimming. The Villa inside – Comfortable, Exquisite and Spotless: The Villa has everything you need and more, comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, 2 chefs’ kitchens, numerous outside sitting and dining areas. The Location – can’t be better: Florence, Siena, San Gimignano are in easy reach and were never experienced so relaxed before. Parking was always easy, no crowds in the centre of Florence and Siena, no lining up for visiting the main attractions, beautiful sightseeing with no stress at all; shopping was great and going out for lunch or dinner possible even without reservation. Wonderful time at outstanding Villa San Piero!

Best HomeAway Rental in our Lifetime
San Piero is an idyllic haven located in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and by far the best HomeAway rental we have ever been fortunate to discover. Communication was excellent from the day we spotted the listing online to the day we left. This magnificent home surpassed all our expectations. Every detail has been meticulously considered; each corner delights the eye. Our group of four couples found ample personal privacy, along with plenty of spaces to comfortably interact and visit. Each night we had to ponder which of the many tables to use for the evening meal; there are five (!) and you cannot beat the beauty of a former church for an inspiring setting. The views from both inside the home and the numerous outside vistas are spectacular. The amenities provided are of the highest quality and far exceed what is typical in this type of rental. Of note are the well-appointed kitchens for guests to experiment making their own meals after shopping for Tuscan cheeses, pastas, wines, fruits and vegetables. A most appreciated laundry room with plenty of racks for air drying clothes or using the electric dryer is available. The ceiling beams in this room are a wonder--reinforcing both the history and uniqueness of this property. By day, a detailed book of suggestions for day trips, restaurants, wineries and castles awaits you. Both the property manager and the owners greeted us on our arrival, and could not have been more helpful. The owners, in particular, took the time to orient us to the property, and to the surrounding countryside, ensuring that we could find our way to grocery shops and other amenities. This type of attention to our needs in a foreign land was gracious and so appreciated. Their generous welcome to this one-of-a kind villa enhanced our Tuscan vacation enormously. Gupa and Helmut, we left part of our hearts with you and your lovely home and hope to visit again. San Piero is a true gem.

Wonderful Villa - Memorable Experience to Last a Lifetime!
Perfect property. This was truly a wonderful experience for the whole family. The landscaping is beautiful with flowers, trees, and amazing views of surrounding vineyards. All this on a property that has 100’s of years of history. There are plenty of places for guests to relax in or enjoy a meal around the property while taking in the views. And then you go inside and see the beautiful renovations that preserve the property’s historical character. The attention to detail is unbelievable. And luxuries throughout. To truly appreciate how special this Villa is you must see it for yourself. The owners, Walburga and Helmut, are fantastic and provided thoughtful advise how to enjoy the surrounding area. And the property manager, Lurella, is just a wonderful person and incredibly helpful. We had chef Mattase come several nights and the meals he put together were wonderful. Our family had a truly enjoyable experience and we can’t thank them all enough.

Paradise in Tuscany
Paradise. Perfect. You must stay here. For context – I stayed at this villa for a week with my wife, 3 kids (25, 22 and 19), future daughter-in-law, sister and 2 cousins. During our 3 weeks in Italy, we also stayed in Rome, Elba Island, Cinque Terre, and Lake Como. We are from California (USA). I hate to say it, but we tend to be very picky about hotels, resorts and VRBO houses – we are "fixers" and tend to see what is wrong and needs fixing. Now to the review… The owners of this villa have meticulously restored this former church and house from the 1300's into a beautiful home with modern day comforts. Every detail was considered – take time to wonder the property and appreciate the details. If you appreciate luxury, relaxation, history, architecture, religion and wine, you will find a stay at this villa fascinating and thoroughly enjoying. It was truly fabulous. And the owners are amazing. They helped us plan our week in Tuscany and took care of us like we were family. We felt so welcomed and taken care of before and during our stay. A few tips to make your stay extra special: • Hire Chef Mattisse to cook at least one meal for you. He cooked us lunch and dinner one day. We custom designed the menus with him, and then he shops, prepares, serves and cleanups. It is heavenly. The villa owners can connect you. • If you like yoga, invite Mara Rinaldi at Yoga Chianti to come to the villa and lead you in yoga. We did yoga on the grass near the front gate. It was a great start to our lounging day around the pool. You can find her on the internet, or the villa owners can connect you. • We also had massages at the villa one day. Chef Mattise has a recommendation. You can also contact Spa Vignavecchia in nearby Radda in Chianti. They sent two massage therapists to the villa for us. • From the pool you will see a ridge on the other side of a small valley. Walk to the main road, take a right, walk on the road for about a quarter mile to a dirt road on the left (be careful of cars on the main road), walk up the dirt road (stay left), along that ridge and through the vineyards. Stop at one of the wineries you see and wine taste. Views and the walk are wonderful. Enjoy your stay!

Absolutely perfect Villa! Look no more...
I cannot say enough great things about this property. First, the owners communications with us was spot on. Helpful and thorough in every way. Walburga and her husband Helmut has taken the time to give us everything we needed including where and what to do in the area. Very pleasant to deal with. As far as the property- over the top perfect. The buildings and attached church are something to behold. It was like we where back in time. The owners had both kitchens fully stocked with dishes, pots pans etc..Nothing in the entire home was overlooked. Absolutely beautiful rooms. We had dinner at many beautiful places on the property, each one more beautiful than the next. Our favorite is the outside area in the church. Saltwater pool - perfect and with an unbelievable view. I would also like to mention the property manager, Lorella. She was available 24/7 and and very, very helpful. Too many things to list but, if you have the opportunity definitely rent this property. It’s a 10. Enjoy!

a wonderful and peaceful place
We shared the Villa as a group of friends. The Villa was the perfect starting point for our visits to Florence and Siena, both within easy reach. The place exceeded all our expectations. It is well appointed with lots of attention to detail and high-end finishes and has great views from any window. The nights can be freezing cold in the Chianti region in March. Thanks to the amazing floor heating system the Villa welcomed us always warm and comfortable, when we returned home from our tours. The owners were very helpfull with their recommendations. Thanks a lot for a wonderful stay. We definitly will come back!

One of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed
One of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed. Villa is extremely well appointed with furniture and fixtures. Two kitchens with fantastic cutlery pots and pans and everything you would need. The bedrooms all have wonderful beds for a great nights sleep. The owners are extremely helpful with recommendations for tours, wineries, open markets, and local sites that should not be missed. We took the recommendations and never regretted one tour. We were there in the fall and did not use the pool but it looked wonderful. Highly recommend this site for a group of friends or a large family. We had a delightful cooking class with chef and Matisse and then enjoyed a fantastic dinner and wine pairing. Again, the owners made this recommendation and we were very happy with the results.

A wonderful holiday in beautiful Tuscany
We had a great week at the San Piero Villa. The location is excellent and the Villa itself is beautiful. We had family for the week, visited Siena, Florence and a lot of the surrounding towns and returned home to the calm and restfulness of the villa (and the beautiful pool). The owner / host was super-attentive leading up to the stay and helped organize 2 wonderful dinners in the Chapel part of the home. A Fantastic Experience for All
The Villa was everything we expected and more. Very large bedrooms with scenic views from every window, comfortable beds with upgraded linens and modern bathrooms. The two kitchens were very well supplied with dishes, pots and pans, modern refrigerator with ice maker, stoves, and dishwasher. Ideally located to small towns and restaurants worth visiting. We did not experience a bad meal in two weeks. Loved all the different eating areas in the Villa, especially the main dining room. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful swimming pool with plenty of beach towels for all. Easy to get to Florence, using the light rail. Loved the landscaping, especially the lavender and the cherry tree. Sorry, but we ate all the cherries. They were so good. We would recommend this place to anyone. It easily accommodates 10 to 12 people.

Beautiful villa with spectacular view
We were a group of 8 passionate photographers staying at this spectacular property during our tour through Tuscany. It was by far the most comfortable and beautiful place we have stayed during our trip. Though we were traveling in wintertime, we had every comfort we could have asked for, thanks to the floor heating and the high end renovation of the historic building. The Villa was easily accessible by car. The owner was extremely helpful and had prepared everything for our arrival: the pantry was fully stocked, fresh olive oil, bread and cheeses were waiting for us in the kitchen and the wine shelf was well sorted with local Chianti wines and grappa. Plenty of fire wood was sitting next to the fireplaces. We grilled an unforgettable Bistecca Fiorentina in the historic fireplace of the formal dining room. After our daily tours we relaxed either in the TV room or living room in front of the fireplace, before we started to prepare dinner in one of the two professional kitchens. Everything was sparkly clean, the beds were comfortable with fine linen, plenty of soft towels and robes were provided. Our favorite spot in the evening was the long chestnut table in the huge tasting room, under antique oak beams with a view into the lightened wine cellar and to the moon and stars through the big glass door. The surroundings and views from the property are made for a photographer’s eye. We drove all the scenic roads between Florence and Siena to get the best pictures of Tuscan Winter Impressions. Some of the most picturesque roads are close by. We would highly recommend this property, even in wintertime, and we will definitely come back.

Absolutely incredible!! Most amazing property-no detail overlooked!
Our family (all 9 of us) enjoyed the most spectacular week at this beautiful, exquisite property. The villa is simply gorgeous! The property was even more amazing and exquisite than described on the website. It is beautifully decorated, spacious and had everything we could have needed and more. Each room had a gorgeous view of the surrounding hills and vineyards. The grounds and pool area were simply breathtaking. The location was absolutely ideal. It was walking distance to a wonderful restaurant in the little town of Lucarelli and two very nice wineries. The owner provided recommendations and assisted with tours, reservations and transportation. We would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in the experience of a lifetime.
