Experience a Frank Lloyd Wright-Inspired Escape in Northeast Georgia

The Wright House is an ideal retreat for couples, families, and small groups who find as much delight in nature’s beauty as they do in art and architecture. Designed by the famed modernist architect Jim Fox, a student of the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition, this unique 1986 home was constructed with a clear vision: to harmonize with its natural surroundings and optimize the breathtaking views of the valley. Inspired by Wright’s philosophy of organic architecture, the home was designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, making it a true architectural gem in Northeast Georgia.

Upon entering, you’re greeted by a strong, inviting entranceway, carefully designed to create a transition from the outside world to the inside. As you step inside, the home's open floor plan immediately creates a sense of spaciousness, with a natural flow between the main living areas. The expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors bring the outside in, offering panoramic views of the valley and allowing sunlight to illuminate the interior. The clerestory light fixtures further contribute to this sense of openness by reproducing natural, ambient light in the evening while maintaining privacy.

The cathedral ceilings add vertical grandeur, but the home maintains a sense of groundedness through the use of horizontal lines in the architecture, a signature of Wright’s style. These low, sweeping lines mimic the flat, expansive landscape of the valley, making the house feel deeply connected to the surrounding environment. The roof, designed with dramatic cantilevered overhangs, extends beyond the home’s structure, offering both shade and visual drama while also emphasizing the horizontal aesthetic.

At the heart of the home lies a central hearth, a cozy fireplace that serves as the symbolic center of family and community, reflecting one of Wright’s key principles. The use of natural materials such as stone and wood is evident throughout the home, blending the structure with its environment.

One of the house's most stunning features are its windows— they not only offer continuous views of the landscape but also allow for a constant influx of natural light. These windows frame the beauty of the surrounding landscape, making nature an ever-present part of the interior experience. Step through the sliding glass doors onto the terrace and porch to enjoy morning coffee or evening sunsets while remaining connected to the natural world.

The low-pitched roof of the home further emphasizes the horizontal lines and maintains a gentle, unobtrusive profile, allowing the house to sit quietly in its environment. This architectural choice ensures that the structure feels like a natural extension of the landscape, not an imposition on it.

Though the house showcases a mid-century modernist approach, it remains comfortable and welcoming, with the main living area located on one level for ease of access. Whether you’re sitting by the fireplace or enjoying the outdoor spaces, every aspect of the design encourages reflection, relaxation, and a reconnection with both nature and loved ones.

Centrally located near state parks, outdoor adventuring, fine dining, and boutique shopping, this property offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Whether you’re seeking to hike the nearby trails or explore the local culinary scene, the Wright House provides an unforgettable retreat for architecture enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

A stay at the Wright House is more than just a vacation—it’s an opportunity to live within a piece of art, one that draws on the timeless principles of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural vision. Guests will appreciate not only the breathtaking views but also the custom lighting fixtures designed to complement the home’s architectural lines, the carefully designed entranceway that offers a sense of compression and release, and the overall feeling of being both sheltered and connected to the world outside. It’s a place where form meets function, and where design meets nature in perfect harmony.

Bliss after the storm (Milton kicked our Florida butts)
The pictures of this property do not do it justice. It is stunning. Magnificent. Breathtaking. We had the most peaceful stay, sitting on the back deck for hours, tuning in with nature or walking next to the river below. The surrounding area is just as amazing as the house-we want to live there. Spent time exploring Black Rock Mountain and the charming lake with our fur babes and made some great new friends (our neighbors Mandy, Dennis, Ollie, and Skye). We will definitely return for a visit this summer. A huge thank you to our host Peter

Worth it for the deck alone!
Truly gorgeous comfy home in the valley. Our mixed generation family loved the stay. If you're a deck person, like we are, you'll love both the covered and non-covered deck options with gorgeous views.

Wonderful vacation in an amazing home!
This house is full of charm! We loved every minute of our stay! The architecture, furnishings and Nancy’s art work made every minute in the house seem like a treat. The views could not be beat. My two children and their small families joined us and we all had plenty of space and every amenity possible. We did not want for anything, from dishes to humidifiers and from games to extra blankets, they had it all! We will definitely be booking this home again!

Great Views From A Beaytiful Home
Beautiful home with large deck to view property and mountains. The awesome fireplace made for cozy evenings watching the flames. Large rooms, comfortable beds, nice kitchen, and labels for where everything is stored and what switches worked what lights. All in all a very nice place in a great location.

Beautiful house and scenery
We chose this house because some of our family live nearby and a cousin highly recommended it. The house is beautiful and we enjoyed the “Wright” style immensely. We are a family that cooks and this house was well equipped for that. The queen bed in the master bedroom is pretty firm and the king bed is a softer mattress; options for all types. The deck and views are truly beautiful. We will absolutely stay again for the next family visit.

Great view
The house is laid out great with bedrooms at each end of the house. The porch’s are comfortable with a great view. The exterior of the house needs some maintenance and the bed frame in the master bedroom is dangerous for the shins. The kitchen is well stocked and user friendly.

Awesome house!
Great kitchen with tons of counter space, all the drawers and cabinets were labeled with their contents (this was extremely helpful), and everything we needed and more. The screened porch was spacious with a beautiful view. House inside so cool, unique, and spacious. Most comfortable house I’ve ever rented. We absolutely plan to return.

Just the Wright Place
The architecture of the home was wonderful. Comfort and elegance. The host was very thoughtful and thorough with the preparation of the home for our stay. Off the beaten path but close enough to Rte 441 to get wherever we wanted to go easily. Our only real regret was that it rained most of the time during our stay, so we did not get to spend any meaningful time on the wonderful deck looking out over the beautiful back yard. We recommend this home highly and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Beautiful home and property
The location of the property is so beautiful in every direction you just can't quit looking around. The home is lovely and comfortable and the screened porch makes a wonderful spot to sit and stare at the mountains and the park-like back yard. The original artwork is like being in an art museum. Around every corner is another extraordinary painting. Peter was a very responsive host, and we thank him for sharing his house and his mother's art with us.

Amazing House in the North Georgia Mountains
My wife and I loved our stay at this amazing home! The great views and the floor to ceiling windows really make for an awesome way to kick back and relax. The internet at the house is FAST. They have TVs with streaming services. There's also plenty of verizon 4G signal for your cell phone at this house. It is located less than 10 minutes away from a Grocery Store, a Chick Fil A, The Dillard House, and The Cupboard. The house is easy to get to, located a few miles off the highway with easy driving roads leading to the driveway. I highly recommend this house and hope to stay here again sometime soon.

Back in Time
From the numerous bird songs in the morning to the fluttering fireflies at dusk, this was a trip back to childhood memories. Sitting on the back deck was wonderful just enjoying nature. There are various things that need repaired in and around the house but they didn’t deter from our stay. If your light sensitive for sleep better bring a mask.

Unique experience
A retreat by any definition, this "artful" property immediately envelopes one in a sense of calm. One doesn't have to be an art aficionado to appreciate unique Frank Lloyd Wright-type architecture of the building and all the interior details, right down to the original artwork adorning its walls. The amenities of the home are above par and while we were only 2, the layout and size is ample for many more, with both expansive inside and outdoor living spaces. The setting alone is sublime. Our host was remarkably communicative and always a pleasure to work with, especially given our unique circumstance of being there through the remnants of Hurricane Zeta and the concomitant power issues, and while I don't give Zeta 5 stars, I wholeheartedly give this property and the property owner my highest rating for enjoyment of this lovely and unique rental.

Unique and very special. Amazing views. Great for family trips!
This place is really special and one of the most unique homes you can stay at in the area. Beautiful view across the valley from the back deck. The screened porch is a great place to read a book and enjoy breakfast. The owner's artwork is amazing and we spent the first hour in the house walking around and admiring all of her beautiful paintings. Don't miss the walk down to the gazebo by the creek. My dog loved the creek and met the friendly white dog (Max) who lives in the house across the creek. He joined him for a romp in the creek and several laps around the gazebo. There are also 3 black labs next door who are very friendly as well and good with other dogs. To say the kitchen is well stocked is an understatement. It's hard to imagine something you'd be looking for that isn't there. There are also plenty of games in the cabinet by the bar. You will not regret your decision to book this property!!

Amazing - a stay you have to experience!
We often get to appreciate a work of art - we seldom stay in one. But that is what this house is - my wife and I are fans of Frank Lloyd Wright and prairie style/midcentury modern design. The home is beautiful and an atmosphere that calms in itself. It is nicely decorated with art by the mother of the current owner. The setting could not be better - fairly easy access, a great property and a view from the deck that will draw you out there any time of day. The screened-in area is a plus. There is a neighbor close-by but we did not hear them other than occasionally their dog. All of the space is very usable. Everything is comfortable - from the beds to the couch to the dining table chairs. The common spaces in the home were great places for family to congregate but the house is also big enough to get off on your own if that is what you want. We traveled with family - two couples, a teenager and two dogs - and the home worked for everyone. The house is well stocked with necessities and fun (books, games, guitar, etc.) The kitchen was very usable and we cooked several times - the owners have labeled everything you need to find - which was helpful. We communicated with Peter (the owner) and he was great to talk to and seems to be on top of fixing any needs or issues that arise. The home is in a great neighborhood, easily accessible to all the the things you might want to do in Rabun County. We highly recommend it and vow to return and enjoy it again!

Beautiful House and Beautiful Location
I have a preference for the FLW aesthetic, so just loved the vibe of the house. We were here with friends and had just a wonderful relaxing time. We ventured out to hike and visit wineries and distilleries and to the convenient grocery store to eat in each night. The pantry is stocked with necessities and spices, and the whole place was warm and inviting. Perfect for visiting the mountains with friends. An added bonus was the guitar in the corner. My husband thought about bringing one of his, but it wouldn't fit in the car - this added so much to our week. Just a lovely, lovely house and location!
