Beautiful colonial home that has been converted into a hotel. Most of the rooms are, generally, upscale and inclusive, but the dormitory-style rooms at the top are an excellent low-cost option! You receive fewer amenities and you share bathroom and shower facilities, but this is a familiar scenario to eco-travelers. These rooms are a step up from a hostel, but they are priced similarly and you receive all the additional hotel perks! For the price, these rooms are an excellent value. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Centro Histórico and there are many attractions within walking distance. The neighborhood seems relatively safe, but the hotel maintains a tightly secured entrance and has staff on hand 24 hours a day in case you need assistance. There is almost no nightlife to speak of in this area, but there are MANY initmate, inexpensive restaurants close by. While I would recommend brushing up on your Spanish for getting around Quito, the hotel staff is fluent in English and is more than willing to help you out. I would absolutely LOVE to stay at this hotel again in the future.
