Accessible Now, Power On, Private Mountain Escape W/Hot Tub, Creekside

Its a beautiful, fall season in the mountains, many local folks had damage to their rural homes but desperately want visitors to local restaurants and businesses.

Most of the local areas have re-opened: Blowing Rock, much of Boone, West Jefferson and Wilkesboro. We will be donating to Samaritans Purse from rental proceeds until the area is in better shape after the storm.

POST STORM UPDATE:
We were more fortunate than others with no real damage.
- Roads are clear to the site, power

Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and retreat to this mountain vacation, cabin near Boone! The newly remodeled cabin features:

- Great location, 7 minutes off Highway 421
- 21 minutes to Boone
- 13 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway
- - Sparkling half-mile of creek access
- Trout pond
- Modern, remodeled cabin, with lots of light
- Granite & tile kitchen and bath
- Large screened porch
- Hot tub
- Fire pit
- Gazebo right on the creek (couch/chairs)
- 122 serene acres of forested beauty with hiking trails!
- Spend your days driving Blue Ridge Parkway, exploring the charm of Wilkesboro or Boone, hiking trails, or simply relaxing at your mountain retreat.

Welcome to the Doggett family cabin which we have owned since the 1960’s.

We want you to have a great mountain escape and memories for life! Here are a few tips to ensure you have a great experience during your stay:

- If you like creek activities such as wading, bring water shoes and a float (warmer months).

- If you like to trout fish, you have two options on our property. The State releases trout in our glamping parking lot and other release points down creek to Highway 421. Fishing licenses are required. Option two is a private stock creek pond, right in front of the cabin. Details and fees are at the cabin. If you like lake fishing or boating, you can head to W. Kerr Scott Lake (10 miles)

- You can also watch the automatic trout feeding every day at 8 am, 12 pm and 6 pm.

- A cornhole set is available in the basement, laundry area.

- Hiking: behind the cabin, there is a trail off to the right that goes to the top of the property, about ¾ of a mile. Also, past the cabin, following the creek through a field, you can hike up three future cabin spots with views of the creek. At the top of this trail, you head back down to trail on
the right and see the neighboring mountains a little clearer. In the cabin, there is a manual of various hiking trails in the area.

- Gas Grill: the gas grill works great. It’s a great place to enjoy grilled food.
- If you like birds, download the Merlin Bird app. It identifies all the birds nearby.
- Firewood; you can bring some or we have bundles for $10 each
- Gazebo: sit by creek at the gazebo, great for relaxing and reading
- Canoeing and tubing is a quick 25 minute ride away (details available)
- Supplies: if coming up north on Highway 421, you will pass Lowes Foods, Lowes Hardware, Walmart, Dunham’s Sports and various stores. These are clustered together for easy access.
- Rainy weather: the screened porch is a great place to enjoy the rain. The game room has cards and few other games to play.
- Check the weather forecast to prepare for conditions that vary in the mountain communities. Appropriate clothing and gear will make for a more fun adventure!

Beautiful escape to the woods
My family and I rented this cabin for a long weekend and it was the perfect getaway. The cabin feels secluded and is set back from the road so our child and dog could play in the creek without worry. There are acres of trails to explore and the sounds of nature were so peaceful. Trips into Boone were easy and we had a great time. Would absolutely rent again.

Beautiful and Relaxing
We really enjoyed our stay here. The creek is so therapeutic. The property is well kept and maintained. There was so much space for my son and I to explore. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to make the stay enjoyable. Our dog could run and play in peace. We really loved relaxing in the hot tub. I would return to this property in a heartbeat and would recommend it to others.

Recommending to all my friends
Best small mountain cabin I have stayed in. It is perfect for an escape for 2 or a small family. This place is only 6 miles off a 4-lane highway and 1/4 from the main road. It feels like you are deep in the woods. The stream is perfect with water levels and flow to play in. The cabin has a ton of USB ports for modern families. Nice firepit, grill (gas), and hot tub. The kitchen had everything you need, even a coffee maker for 12 cup pots and/or Kcups. Nice washer and dryer. I have never stayed in the same cabin twice. This one I will.

Peace and Quiet!
Probably one of the top 3 places I’ve rented! If you are looking for peace and quiet and privacy to just chill, then this is the place for you! No neighbors in sight, barely any traffic noise ever, place was great to get away from the hustle bustle. House is well equipped and kids loved the creek and hot tub!

This place is amazing. I want to live here - for real....is it for sale?!!? If not I call dibs when it does!! Seriously great piece of property and cabin. The Gazebo was a nice feature. The creek was perfect for our dogs and myself to cool off in. Our 10 week old fell asleep every day sitting on one of our laps or her chair sitting listening to the creek and having the breeze hit her. I caught some native brook trout in the stream with my fly rod (they were returned to the water) and also ran into a baby fawn while doing so. We have shared the link to this place with several friends and encouraged them to book it. We will be back some day!!

Quiet oasis
We booked this trip for a quiet weekend with our dog and this property 100% delivered. The screened in porch and the sounds of the creek and birds made it the perfect stay in the middle of NC summer. Our guest contact was responsive and very helpful, keeping us updated on whether the creek was passable after some storms passed through. We also appreciated the quality appliances and fixtures. If you’re looking for a quiet, isolated, and comfortable getaway, this is the place to be!

Idyllic Mountain Cabin
Cabin was perfect. Very clean and well maintained inside and out. Cabin was delightfully secluded but still 20minutes items from restaurants and grocery stores. Morning coffee on the front porch listening to the creek and evenings on porch having cocktails. We went gem mining with our teenager at Emerald Hollow. Also, went into Blowing Rock and Boone. We would definitely love to return!

Honeymoon Getaway
My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and had a great time! The location is perfectly secluded with the sounds of wind and the river bear by. Night sky of stars easily visible. Hot tub, fir pit, and grill were available for use. I gave 4 stars for cleanliness just for the fact that we found a pillow in the closet with stains on it. Other than that the property was spotless. Would stay again !

New Year’s Eve Getaway
We had a fantastic time at this cabin! The cabin was clean and had all the amenities we needed for a long weekend getaway. Although, there was an issue with the hot tub when we arrived, the owner and team was very responsive and got it fixed on the last night of our stay, so our kids could enjoy! Our kids loved the creek and surrounding property to explore as well. We would definitely rent this cabin again! Myron

Beautiful little corner or the world!
Where do I start…the property is beautifully situated in a valley next to a creek. All you can hear is the water moving through the creek. We were there to spend time with our son at ASU, but if I had the opportunity I could sit on the porch or patio by the fire pit for days soaking in the surroundings! The house itself was clean, well-maintained and very thoughtfully appointed. The house smelled fresh and clean when we walked in. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was very clean (this is a big deal for my wife and this bathroom received her seal of approval), kitchen was clean and very well-stocked. Everything you need is there, from condiments to flashlights to rechargeable lanterns. There are motion-activated lights that guide your path outside at night and the lights by the patio are warm and inviting. As for the creek, the property listing cautions about crossing it during periods of heavy rain. I can say from our experience that even when rains are heavy and sustained, it can be crossed in a SUV. We stayed the weekend that the remnants of hurricane Ian passed through and we crossed back and forth across the creek without issue or concern the entire weekend. The owner is beyond accommodating, very responsive and welcoming. If you are looking for a mountain oasis, look no further. We will be returning soon!

Great Getaway
My family had a fantastic visit here recently. We were secluded with no other homes near us on a large plot to explore. The creek was perfect for my son to wade in and it provided a relaxing backdrop to watch and listen to, even from the screened porch. Inside was very clean and modern. All things were in good working order and maintained very nicely. Plenty of places to explore in the surrounding towns which included Blowing Rock. Great getaway!

Perfect tranquility
This property would be a great place to stay if the weather was conducive to sitting outside and listening to the stream, unfortunately we were in the midst of a horrible heat wave the time we were there and were only able to enjoy the outside late afternoon/early evening after the sun was starting to set, but it didn’t take away from the property. The bed was very comfortable (I want to know the brand, we’re looking for a new one), and the cleanliness of the house was superb. Our “puppies” loved the expansiveness of the place, and our one dog spent most of her time in the stream, which felt very cool and refreshing. Kudos to the property owner and the cleaning crew for an excellent experience. We are thinking about returning this fall when the weather is cooler and we can enjoy the outdoors more.

Shady Creek
This was absolutely the best cabin we have stayed in for our vacations. All amenities were spot on and then some. The creek was by far the most wonderful sound 24 hours each day. The only possible opportunity to make our stay perfect was the lack of night sky. The security lighting drowned out the night sky while we relaxed on the patio at night. We are photographers and wanted the option for some astrophotography pictures while in the mountains. Otherwise we can't say enough to recommend this away from home spot in nature. Thank you for the R and R we so needed.

The perfect couples escape
We enjoyed our getaway in this cute, comfortable house. Everything was so clean and thoughtfully supplied, down to shampoos, and snacks for our stay!I loved having my morning coffee out on the screened in porch almost as much as sitting by the fireplace at night. The hot tub was great after hiking on the mountain behind us. It was so much fun looking for fish as we drove in and out across the bridge. Having the electric security gate at the road made us feel extra safe. It was so peaceful and relaxing we didn’t want to leave! We’ve already made plans to come back this summer and wade in the creek like when we were kids! This was the best vacation I’ve ever been on!
