4 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 6 level Treehouse near Corcovado National Park, and Beaches.

The Osa Peninsula is teeming with exotic monkeys, birds, and wildlife close to our home. Plus remote beaches, great waterfront restaurants and eco adventures close by too. Corcovado Treehouse is on 100 acre rainforest reserve is situated only a few kilometers away from Corcovado National Park, which is mostly primary rainforest and considered the most biodiverse area in the world. What does that mean you as a person looking to reserve a vacation home near Corcovado National Park. Well, get ready for an adventure of a lifetime as we have fun kayak and boat tours to see dolphins and whales in Golfo Dulce, also night tours to see bioluminescent colors in Gulf and tours in rainforest to see wildlife, venomous frogs, colorful insects and nocturnal critters that come out at night. There is fishing, waterfall rappelling, sloth and chocolate farm and factory tours nearby, butterfly farms and hiking through the National Park.
Our home is 6 levels with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. There is hot water in main level shower. All rooms are 100% screened in with ceiling fans, reading lights and comfy linens. Secluded jungle dipping pool. Kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, pool areas and studio are open with low lighting as not to attract unwanted insects during your stay. But don’t worry, fans take care of most the inconveniences and most guests ‘ mostly’ aren’t bothered at all.
Please look closely at pictures on my listing as you can see cleary steps, jungle railings and open areas. Yes, home is suitable for children over 4 years old, regardless of what reviews state.
You’ll hear wildcats at night, owls, see kinkajous, agoutis and 3 types of monkeys, 2 kinds of toucans, 4 types of parrots and parakeets, wild turkeys and the squawking Scarlet Macaws too. As you read our reviews, you’ll see a few 3 and 4 ratings which are usually people who complain about everything, everywhere they go, no matter how clean and new things are, they’ll find something to complain about. People that come to the most bio diverse area in the world, then expect no bugs is like booking a hot springs vacation and complaining the water is too hot, or going diving without getting wet. I offer an experience that puts you close to nature.
Many people travel with their fears, phobias and unrealistic expectations of accommodations. Recommendation, for those of you looking for a hotel type experience, everything closed in, glass, a/c and room service on demand, my home is not for you. However if you are a flexible traveler with a taste for adventure, I suggest you reserve with us.

What an experience!
Watching monkeys and toucans eye level while drinking coffee in the morning, listing to the rain or wildlife during the night. Making dinner or playing cards in the evening 70 feet in the tree. We never felt scared or unconformable, but very alive, therefore our family of 5 will never forget that experience. Very unique tree house with all the the features a home needs. Thank you, Michael for opening your home to us so we are able to experience Costa Rica's rain forest at it best.

Incredible Experience
What an incredible experience it was to stay here!!! Definitely high-end accommodations for a treehouse. Michael was a pleasure to work with, was very accommodating when our flight was delayed and we got there late. We loved being in the trees and so close to so much wild life. I definitely would recommend for someone who loves nature and the outdoors. We all had an overwhelming feeling of sadness the day we had to leave.

Bucket list vacation return trip!!!!
After a visit to the OSA Peninsula staying with Mike and Blondie in the treehouse two years ago ,we just couldn’t wait to get back. We stayed in the new house on the property and enjoyed it as much as we did then. The property has breathtaking views, and you do feel like you are in the middle of the jungle. It is a wildlife paradise and they help you add all the adventure you want! 65 foot tree climb, rappelling down waterfalls, fishing, and lots of hikes day and night! Wildlife abounds!

An experience we will never forget
It was very fun and a good experience, of course there was what you expect with bugs and creatures and all the jungle noises. When we went it was cicada season which was loud during the day but they quieted down at night. We were there during dry season so that could play a factor in the river, but we couldn’t find the river and we walked a pretty decent amount looking for it. The only thing that was pretty bad was the beds… the sheets were clean and nice as well as the towels, but the actual mattress was moldy and dirty which made it hard to sleep. Over all we had a fantastic time lots of family time and it was definitely an experience and I would recommend as long as you’re prepared for the amount of creatures and you like the nature!

Peaceful retreat with bounty of wildlife.
Had an amazing time in CR, made even more fantastic by staying in this great house. Michael the owner/host was very friendly with lots of advice on what to do. We were looking for something a little different and peaceful, our family got it here. First - the house. Set in a truly wonderful location. Little tricky to find first time, road was fun and sound advice is the 4x4 car rental! House had plenty of space for our party of 5, bedrooms were fine and the kitchens were well stocked with all the needed utensils. Overall don’t expect house with all mod cons. You are in rainforest environment after all. While house could do with a little TLC, it is quite comfortable and my family really enjoyed our time there. The location!! - Great place to relax and get away from other tourists and enjoy the bounty of wildlife on your doorstep. Every day we were greeted by Oliver (A big iguana we named!) hanging out in a nearby tree basking in the sun. Scarlet macaws flying by in pairs and toucans by the handful. We counted 9 toucans in one nearby tree one day....Amazing! Around 4 - 5pm a troop of squirrel monkeys would saunter through the trees while we sat on the deck. Tip bring binoculars oh and bug spray. Summary - fantastic vacation and we would definitely go back

Disappointed
When we read the description of the treehouse experience and other guests' reviews, we were looking forward to seeing wildlife explode daily all around us as it was described as an exotic wildlife paradise. It was nothing of the sort. In our 3 days stay, not a single monkey, no parrots, no sloths, no nothing, even while trekking around the area. Instead, we had to face 2 huge spiders, 6 gigantic flying cockroaches, big geckos and all this with very poor netting around the beds (lots of holes). When paying so much money for accommodations in nature, you expect good protection for a good night sleep. The water bassin, i.e. the pool, is a little far down in the forest and is used by the staff to do laundry. Not very inviting. Mind you, the staff was very friendly and did her best to take care of us upon our arrival as the host was not there. In terms of fruits for smoothies and veggies for salads, staff struggled to find us only 2 limes. We did, however, have some spices. Overall, the treehouse itself and the surrounding vegetation was beautiful but our experience did not meet our minimum expectations regarding being surrounded by wildlife. We actually decided to leave one night early because we found it difficult to adapt to all the big insects in the house and didn't ask for reimbursement.

Treehouse Christmas
Christmas in a Treehouse This was truly the trip of a lifetime! Finding it was fairly easy, but you definitely need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. I’m glad we took Blondie’s advice and let her rent the car for us. We drove down the coast from San Jose, which took about six hours. It was a pretty drive, and there were plenty of places to stop along the way. Once we arrived we were met by the owner and designer of the treehouse, Michael. He gave us a quick tour, told us how to reach him or the caretakers if needed, and then left us to settle in. It made me feel good to know there was always someone around, but they didn’t intrude on us at all. It being Christmas, they were very thoughtful and had a small Christmas tree and a few decorations up. We appreciated that, as it was our first Christmas vacation away from home and we had our college-age kids with us. The treehouse itself and the space around it was amazing. We were awakened at dawn every morning by howler monkeys and scarlet macaws, and lulled to sleep by the sounds of the forest. We enjoyed the dipping pool and trails just a short hike away. One of our favorite activities each evening was watching the leaf-cutter ants crossing the dirt road. We had several visits by spider monkeys — even a mama and baby! Mike and Blondie have put together a book with treehouse info as well as recommended tours and things to do. We did most of them, and especially loved our time on La Sirena with Captain John and the dolphins, and our visit to the wildlife sanctuary was both educational and fun. While the kids were a bit freaked out by bugs and bats our first night, they quickly learned to love treehouse life once they realized they were not on the menu. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we had everything we needed to cook meals — although we did eat out in Puerto Jimenez quite a bit. We especially enjoyed The Iguana Lodge (high end), Restaurant Delphines (mid-priced), and Pizza Mailit was like home away from home. The owner, Josh, made us feel like family, and we enjoyed spending Christmas Eve there with some new friends. The pizza and smoothies were our kids’ favorite. This is definitely not for the squeamish or anyone who can’t make the climb up the spiral stairs, but for those interested in eco-tourism and immersion into Costa Rican life, it really is an amazing place to stay.

Deluxe Treehouse - come back with a story to tell
Stay in a deluxe treehouse in the best part of Costa Rica to visit? Yes please! Lapa's Nest is an amazing, mind-blowing experience. Totally private and a perfect hub to get to anything you want to do in the unparalleled Osa Peninsula by car. The super friendly owners bend over backwards to accommodate and make your stay as stress-free and as enjoyable as possible. 3 screened in bedrooms 2 bathrooms 2 showers 1 fully functioning kitchen w. everything you need Wi-Fi And yeah, so you encounter a few bugs - but this is the jungle baby. They're so involved in their own ecosystems anyways, they really want nothing to do with you. The toucans and other incredible wildlife make up for it in spades. Highly recommended. I mean when in this life and where else in this world are you going to stay in an actual treehouse in the jungle?! Totally worth the experience!

Amazing house in the Osa
Hi Mike and Blondie We had an absolutely fabulous time at your lovely home. The Osa and in particular your home and the grounds surrounding it were one of the big highlights of our trip. So relaxing and a great place to get back in touch with oneself. We were particularly relaxed in your home with lots to read – some really interesting books around the house – thank you. We spent much more time just being at La Lapa the I had expected. We did hire kayaks and paddle boards one day and also went on a great boat trip with Josh from the Pizzamail restaurant in town and saw lots of dolphins and turtles and whales so that was a great day out but the majority of our week we just stayed at La Lapa and read and walked the grounds and watched the monkeys and humming birds and bats and enjoyed being there. You really have a unique place to stay that gives such an opportunity for calm and happy peaceful times. Thank you also for arranging the car hire as having a 4x4 was essential and the car hire company you booked for us was excellent. A stay at La Lapa is truly a unique and amazing experience

Everything was fantastic, clean and organized! The staff was very warm and personable! The accommodations were huge, the pics don't do it justice. Because of the orientation of the house on the property it was never too hot and the pool was a nice touch.

Unique adventure
Well, once we found it, things improved. The directions were by no means clear and there are no signs to help. The road in is HORRIBLE & SCARY and we turned back a couple of times before we decided this had to be it. 4x4 vehicle is a MUST since the road is very rough and full of good size rocks. One part of the road is washed out near a stream that is 12 feet below the road and there is just enough for the vehicle to pass. We finally found the locked gate and the key was on the opposite side from where we were told we would find it. Owner met us at the parking spot and he helped us with our luggage. It was the only time we saw him all week. A house keeper (Anna) came mid-week to change bedding etc... We did not see any monkeys at the tree house all week but we were gone a lot. Every morning around 4 am the howler monkeys began their noises but we never saw them. There were insects all the time but despite the size of some, they were harmless. No mosquitoes while we were there. We used the netting over the bed where the two college girls slept because the bugs freaked them out. Some tiny ants occupied the second level bedroom, so the girls slept in the bed pictured on the main level. Showers worked well, limited hot water but as warm as the weather was we did not need it. There were some bats occupying cool dark areas of the Tree House but they did not bother us other than some droppings on one counter. We did not find a microwave to use and the safe key did not work. The flush toilets worked well, as did the range & refrigerator/freezer. Overall, I would suggest that the listing be updated to reflect the fact that the road in is very rough and a 4x4 would be needed and time frames be adjusted. It took a good 10 minutes to get from the highway to the Tree House. Puerto Jimenez is another 10-12 minutes once you reach the highway. The property was indeed clean. Wifi worked well but it was slow, so don't plan on streaming or doing lots of complex work via the internet. Communications with Blondie were not the best. We got some messages that were actually not for us and several messages that she said that were sent to us never arrived. But it all worked out. Blondie did provide a great deal of help arranging for our car and booking a couple of tours for us. This is an opportunity for a great adventure. Those who don't like insects or bats will freak out but you won't need an alarm clock. The howler monkeys will see to that.

great location and comfortable for a large group
We stayed at this rental home for 1 week, the last week of December into the first week of January. We had a group of 8 (four couples), and we had a great time. It was a comfortable place for everyone to retreat to their own private space (private room with queen bed), and then hang out together in the common areas. We cooked most of our meals together in the upstairs kitchen, which was fully stocked and had a lot of great open space, chairs and a couch to hang out. There is also another full kitchen downstairs too, but we didn't use that one as much. In the mornings, we sat on the outdoor couches and chairs upstairs and watched the birds. The property is a little more remote, so we saw a lot of wildlife just on the property. In terms of style- this house has a lot of charm. We were looking for a property with more local 'flair' as opposed to a property with standard stainless steel finishes and granite countertops. The house has a lot of amenities and features, but you still feel like you are living in a house more aligned with the style of other local properties. The only amenities this property did not have are air conditioning, and reliable hot water- but that seems to be a common theme for most homes on the peninsula. There were a lot of fans in the house, so that worked great. One of the features we loved was that the kitchens were open to the outdoors, so you can view and hear wildlife while you are spending time together in the common spaces. There was a large mosquito net curtain for the upstairs kitchen that we could close if we wanted to, which was a nice option, particularly at night. In terms of the management- the owners, Blondie and Michael, were extremely helpful getting us settled when we arrived. The caretaker lives right next door, so he was also able to help us with anything once we arrived that week. Also, in addition to this- Blondie was a huge help in advance of the trip- helping me to make our group's rental car reservations and answering all of my questions quickly over email. In terms of location- this property is centrally located to explore the entire Osa Peninsula. It's a short drive into town to Puerto Jimenez, which has the biggest grocery store and great options for restaurants and booking tours. It's also within driving distance for Corcovado tours (we hired a guide one day, drove and hiked into the park from the southern side), and it's also driving distance to Drake Bay. A great place to stay and highly recommended!

Amazing Tree House
We are a group of 5 adults, well travelled in Central and South America, and have just returned from Michael and Blondie's amazing tree house. We surfed VRBO (HomeAway) looking for a unique experience for this year's trip, came across the Tree House, and knew that was where we wanted to stay, so it was off to Osa for us. You don't have to be a bird and wildlife enthusiast to enjoy this location - just go, relax and enjoy cocktails in the most amazing house you've ever stayed in! We loved every minute - and the pictures do not do it justice. Our only regret is that it did not rain (really) as we wanted to enjoy it from our tree. We were close enough to beach life and other attractions (need a car) yet tucked away in the rain forest in a remote but safe location. We were surprised to know that there had been other visitors in a house nearby - we had no idea anyone else was there - it was totally private - especially reassuring when using the outdoor shower! A truly fantastic vacation. Tree House bucket list, check! Now, how can we possibly top this next year?

Great experience
Had a wonderful time experiencing the tree house and the jungle around us. Took a little while for the kids to adjust to the nature around them. Mornings were the best-it was great waking up to all of the sounds of the jungle, having coffee with the macaws, toucans, monkeys, butterflies and various insects. An experience of a lifetime. Do keep in mind that this is the jungle. If you do not like bugs or wildlife you may need to make adjustments! The listing was accurate in description. Property was clean, well maintained, caregivers Anna and Humberto were lovely people. Owners Blondie and Mike were a wonderful resource while planning our trip before we arrived and planning activities once we had arrived at the treehouse. One of the highlights of our trip was our day hike in La Tarde with guide Mike Boston. The swim at the end of the day in the river was pretty terrific too! Loved the bar b que dinner buffet at Iguana lodge on Tuesday, Italian night on Friday. The beach in front of the Iguana lodge was our favorite for swimming and spending the afternoon in the sun. Pizzamailit had great food also!

A beautiful rainforest immersion experience!
Our stay in the tree house was a beautiful adventure. Blondie was very helpful planning our excursions. It is quite secluded, and the town near the home was truly Costa Rican, without the touristy feeling of many other areas. The little dipping pool was refreshing, and our children loved the adventure outside every door and window. The sounds of nature were all around, and the beautiful rainforest surrounding the home is beautiful, authentic, and so easy to experience. The caretaker, Wilbur, was a wonderful rainforest guide, and the waterfall hike was perfect for our family! Be prepared to keep caveman hours (down with the sun, up with the sun), and to appreciate the quiet, solitary environment - it isn't for everyone, but we couldn't be happier that we skipped the orchestrated eco-tours so many others have taken for a real and authentic trek into the life of the Osa Penninsula. We would not recommend the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall tour from San Jose. While our driver, Erik, was wonderful and gracious, and truly knowledgeable, the tours were a terrible way to end a trip filled with authentic and lively interactions in Puerto Jimenez and the forest. We really enjoyed our authentic jungle stay, and will have one foot in the rainforest for a long time!

Truly unique experience
The tree house was great. Highly recommended. We had daily visits from monkeys and really enjoyed the natural setting. Puerto Jimenez is a quick and easy drive and the local folks were all nice & friendly. We travelled to other parts of the country and the Osa was our favorite area. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 13). We rented a car in San jose and drove down via Jaco/Quepos.

Amazing Stay in Osa Peninsula Treehouse
The Osa is one of the most pristine, beautiful places I have ever visited — in fact, the ONLY vacation I have ever taken that topped this amazing adventure was a three-week safari in Botswana, which is a tough trip to match. On top of the amazing natural beauty and adventure in the Osa, the treehouse of Mike and Blondie is an unrivaled experience. It is not like a mundane treehouse "hotel" that is part of a resort; this is the real deal! It is a custom made tree-house that truly blends with the environment. Imagine troops of monkeys coming within feet of your sitting area with nothing between you and exotic birds perching and flying by at all times of the day. The treehouse is beautifully furnished with an amazing kitchen and comfy rooms. As if it couldn't get any better, the owners are a dream and very helpful and the caretaker of the property is one of the most genuine and caring people I have ever met. I will certainly return to this amazing oasis and encourage anyone who has the opportunity to visit to take it as soon as possible. It is a life-changing experience that will heal the soul and renew the life of anyone who visits.

Tree House Heaven
We loved loved loved the Treehouse. We've been home for a few days now and we still can't stop talking about it. Pictures don't do it justice. Waking up and having coffee while hearing the jungle wake up is the best!!! And having margarita's at sunset is a close second!! Wilbur is the best. I highly suggest that you book him for a guide if possible. Also, have Blondie book your tours for you too. We don't usually do that and end up spending hours on the internet researching everything. We decided to let Blondie help us set up our trip and it was so worth it!! She knows the tours, the owners, the guides etc. so she sets you up with the best. This is a great experience and a great tree house!

Once in a Lifetime Experience
The pictures of the treehouse do not do it justice. Climbing up into it for the first time is incredible. Watching the monkeys, birds and other creatures every day while drinking your coffee is an experience that will always be remembered. Our 6, 11 and 12 year old loved the fact that there were no walls and they could shower in glass bottom shower. Blondie was awesome with tour recommendations and setting them up for you. She knows all the good adventures to keep you going. We had originally looked at staying at an ecolodge in Matapula but decided on the treehouse cause - well its a treehouse! We did go to Matapula one day for a tour and were very glad we did not get that primitive with our accomodations. The treehouse has all the amenities a grown up needs (including internet) but all the fun a child wants. It was nice to come home after a day of touring, settle down, cook dinner & watch the wildlife from your kitchen counter. There is a river down the driveway that we swam at (bring a blow up tube to float down it!) and there is also a great little pool down the ravine on the property. The location of the treehouse was very convenient to everything - 10 minutes from Puerto Jiminez. It is off the main road - easy in & easy out. We made a daily trip into town to pick up groceries and visit the ice cream lady :). There is also some great restaurants. We had many visitors at the treehouse during our stay - the kids looked forward to finding the next one and even named some that hung aroung for a day or too like the Hermie the tree frog who loved to hang on the shower curtain & Johnny the lizard who crawled up and down the tree trunk! We ate fresh bananas from their banana tree and watched a pineapple growing. We found coconuts & had the caretaker open them. We would reccomend the treehouse to everyone who wants not only to see Costa Rica but have an experience that they will talk about for the rest of their lives - I know we will.

The most amazing place on earth!
We stayed in the treehouse for 3 nights, and I cannot say enough good things about the place. My father writes books on homebuilt houses so I have seen thousands upon thousands of owner homebuilt homes. But I have never seen something as amazing as this place! the pictures don't do as much justice as going there and seeing it for yourself. The place is built from recycled and local wood and is built with extreme attention to detail. In the morning when we were there a group of monkeys would cruise through the trees and check us out! and from reading the guestbook it seems that they come by a lot. They are as interested in you as you are them. It was absolutely amazing. There are trails that take you around the grounds and even a pool fed by a stream to cool off in during the day. My wife and I went to the tree house for 3 of our 10 day honeymoon trip to Costa Rica and we wish we would have stayed for longer. It is such unique way to experience Costa Rica and I have to say this place is a MUST! The grounds are extremely beautiful and I could spend all day discovering. The instant we put our bags down we felt at home. We spent almost all of our time in the kitchen level just hanging out and on the lookout for monkeys. The shower has a plexiglass floor and you look down about 40ft to the ground while showering. It is pretty hard to beat watching the sunset over the forest while sitting 50 feet up in a treehouse and drinking Pina Colada made from freshly harvested pineapples. I highly suggest checking out the Osa Wildlife Preserve when you are there, it requires taking a 20-30 minute boat ride across the gulf towards Panama, but it is definitely worth the trip, the hotel Cabanas Jimenez is owned by an american named Jim and he runs trips out to the wildlife refuge where you can whale/dolphin watch on the way out and snorkel on the way back. The treehouse is so amazing, you will not be let down if you go there. It was a truly life changing experience and we are already talking about returning ASAP. If I built this place I would have a hard time letting people stay there because I would want to stay there all the time. This place is truly magical and you will get an experience you will not find anywhere else in C.R. This place really made our trip over the top amazing and full of great experiences. I suggest renting a car when arriving there so you can check out the Osa Peninsula but going without a car is totally manageable

Magical Place-Great Experience
Blondie was exceptionally helpful in all of our vacation planning needs prior to our arrival. All drivers and tours she recommended were top of the line, so heed her advice for activities and transportation when planning your vacation to Costa Rica. As for our stay in the treehouse, it was magical. The pictures and information provided on the sites are accurate. This is not an upscale luxury vacation, you can pick any hotel or ecolodge for that. If you are looking for a true unique rainforest and magical experience this is the place. I wanted my vacation to be unique and an unforgettable experience. I wanted a media fast, I wanted to truly relax and observe the rainforest in action and this definitely met those expectations. We observed animals, insects, breathing pure oxygen....a constant sense of awe, peace and tranquility. It was very educational as well and I now have a much deeper sense of appreciation for the rainforest. It is quite the perfect combination, to be offered this treehouse environment with all of its amentities, but still feel as if you are camping out in the rainforest and still feeling in touch with the environment around you. The treehouse is comfortable and clean and very private and really provides you with everything you need to have a great experience. If you plan to go to other areas for sightseeing a car is a must. However, many days we did not even want to leave. You do need to be prepared for some insect encounters, but they were never annoying. This is like living in a disney movie. The butterflies flying in dancing around every morning. The fireflies and stars at night. The tree leaves the treehouse is built on opening during the day for shade, closing at night so you can view the stars. Getting up with the sun and the songs of the forest, going to sleep with the stars. It takes a little getting use to, but once you find your place, you will not want to leave. The care takers are extremely hospitable and there for whatever you need. What they have created here is so magical and inspiring. This was my perfect vacation.

Tree house magic
The tree house (what a stunning surprise!) was wondrously magical, and none of us tired of being in it; we all awoke at dawn and found ourselves eager to get up simply to sit, drink coffee, watch the day develop, and wonder what Nature would bring into our view next. Very private and secluded but Puerto Jimenez is an easy drive. The caretaker is delightful, helpful, and knowledgeable. As wonderful as we found this place, it may not be for everyone; after all, it IS a tree house and open to the Costa Rican rainforest. We found the hot water intermittent but that was a minor inconvenience. Overall I found it extremely comfortable, well-appointed (especially the kitchen) and refreshingly funky. Several times I overheard my two twenty-something sons remark to each other "I can't believe we're here!" Without a doubt the most delightful and exciting lodging I have ever had.
