Highly Recommend
I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful waterfront property. It is perfect for a couple's escape. We were looking to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, and this stay fit that. The kitchen was gorgeous and had everything I needed to cook. The balcony was a peaceful place to eat dinner while listening to the waves. The hosts communicates quickly but also gave all the privacy we craved. If I'm ever back in Maine, I will definitely stay here again.

Relaxing honeymoon
My Husband and I spent our honeymoon at this wonderfully peaceful property. The accommodations were excellent and the place very clean and charming. A bit of a drive from Acadia, but worth it for the peace and quiet right on the water. We’d love to stay again!

Our stay
We were very pleased with our decision to book here. John and Debbie were on excellent hosts. The property is located in an attractive area with short duration access to many of the attractions that drew us to the area. The property was very clean and great for a stay. With an oceanside view and a nice area to sit by the water, it really was a great place to stay.

Tranquil Retreat, indeed!
This was one of the loveliest vacation rentals I’ve had. The views are incredible, the space has lots of little touches as well as being stocked with everything needed. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would love to come back soon! Thank you, Debby and John!

Cozy Shoreline Stay
We enjoyed the location of this quaint home that had easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The property manager made us feel at home with a welcome basket. We found the directions very accurate and were able to take advantage of hikes during the day on the schoodic penisula as well as the firepit right on site along the shoreline to close our our evenings. The air conditioning window units cooled down the house if they were on for a few hours. The wash machine machine was a plus and there was a cooler in addition to bug spray and a lighter available for adventuring! We enjoyed our stay and experience in Maine with this great stay ❤️

Peaceful Retreat
This was the perfect place for my husband and I to escape after a stressful few months. It was quiet, charming, peaceful and close enough to Acadia and to Bar Harbor to be able to do everything we wanted to do. Debby and John were also fantastic and left us with a basket of goodies and great suggestions of things to do in the area. It was absolutely perfect!

Awesome vacation
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The accommodations were beautiful and very comfortable, and the view from the property is gorgeous and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting by the water and lying in the nearby hammock. We loved hiking and watching the waves at Schoodic Point, which is very close to the property. We also took several trips to the Mt. Desert Island portion of Acadia National park, which was approximately an hour's drive away. Fantastic vacation, highly recommended.

Birch harbor paradise
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Debbie & John’s property in birch harbor. The home was immaculate, property was fantastic, and the stars at night were amazing. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats while we were sitting around the fire pit. We were also just a short 8 minute drive from Schoodic Acadia. Debbie & John were great hosts. They gave you privacy but we’re also fun to talk to. Their home offered us a perfect vacation.

Perfect space and wonderful hosts!
We absolutely loved our stay. The space is homey, light filled, incredible views and stocked with everything you need. Might just be my favorite place I've ever stayed. The host was so helpful and offered great tips from everything from groceries to good restaurants to the best night to build a fire. I would absolutely stay here again. Only thing to keep in mind is it's an hour from Acadia and local food options are limited. Not at all a negative, as it also meant you are out of the touristy areas and could really unplug. Just worth it to have a good amount of groceries to last in case you rather just stay in and enjoy what this peaceful retreat has to offer.

Most peaceful and well kept home we’ve stayed at!
We so enjoyed staying here! The grounds were just beautiful and so well maintained and the living space was the cleanest we’ve ever rented. We loved sitting by the water right off of the property, relaxing in the hammock and just having our own quiet space. Unfortunately, we were further from bar harbor than we thought. We thought we could take the ferry but it was closed so about an hour drive to get there each day. So nice to go to bar harbor though and then have our quiet relaxing retreat to come home to. Would highly recommend!!

Wonderful stay at this beautiful, peaceful property!
My husband and I recently took our first trip to Maine together and had an absolutely fantastic stay at this property! It was beautiful, updated, extremely clean/well kept up, bright with tons of natural light, and so comfortable - everything we could have asked for and more! We loved the location with easy access to Acadia/Bar Harbor and the activities we planned to do, but with the peacefulness and tranquility of not being in nature and not right in the center of the touristy area. We loved having our morning coffee with views of the water, and falling asleep listening to the waves gently lapping on the shoreline at night. It was perfect for coming back to and unwinding after a busy day. We had a wonderful time on our vacation, and are already talking about when we can come back!

Fantastic stay at this beautiful, peaceful property
My husband and stayed at this property for our first vacation together to Maine, and it was everything we could have asked for and more. The cottage was beautiful, clean and updated, tons of natural light, perfect amount of space (nice big kitchen, seating and bed both really comfortable!) and so peaceful. We loved having our morning coffee with a view of the water, watching the sun set over the coast, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the shoreline. We purposely chose this property because we wanted something away from the super touristy area, a tranquil place to come back to at the end of an active day, but with easy access to everything we wanted to do. This property provided exactly that! We were sad to leave this beautiful location, and are already talking about when we can come back!

Beautiful place, tremendous setting and wonderful hosts! We highly recommend it!
You can't go wrong with this rental. We enjoyed our time thoroughly. The one bedroom condo rental was very modern but rustic, new, beautiful and completely furnished with absolutely everything we needed. The large yard was beautifully landscaped and the large fire pit under the stars was a real treat as was the scenic ocean shoreline. The host's beautiful home was nearby but we never saw them unless we needed them. We had private use of their beautiful yard, fire pit and scenic seashore without any intrusion by them. The location was very near Scoodic Point and within easy driving distance to Acadia National Park- both very beautiful destinations. The hosts were very friendly and most accommodating. We are veteran VRBO renters and this was one of the best-highly recommended! David & Karen

Clean and cozy and quiet
We spent a lovely week in Maine at John and Debbie's new apartment, above their garage. We had everything that we needed -- and more! It is about an hour drive to the main part of Acadia park, however there is a ferry close-by that also goes to Bar Harbour. John and Debbie were kind and accommodating, while respecting our privacy. They went above and beyond when we needed to urgently use a printer and let us use their printer. The waterfront by their property is lovely, however the shore was rocky and not amenable to swimming. Thank you, John and Debbie, for a wonderful week! Doug & Clare

Heavenly!
My husband, daughter and I spent three nights in this lovely accommodation near Winter Harbor last week. We were the first guests to stay here, and so everything was brand-new. It was all done perfectly. The accommodations are so lovely and open and airy. The views are spectacular! And every need was thought of. Debbie provided hostess us with fresh cookie dough and strawberries as well as a number of activities to do both in and out of the house. We picked blueberries on the property in the morning and ate them all day long. We went down to the water and explored the rocks, and just enjoyed the serenity and the beautiful views. John and Debbie were fantastic hosts and we can't wait to go back! I would highly recommend this property to anybody looking for a really lovely place to stay in the winter harbor/Goldsboro area.

Amazing place: peaceful and restorative
This was the nicest home we have stayed in. It was immaculate. The kitchen supplies were top notch, lovely to cook with. The view from the small porch is enchanting. Perfect place for a cup of coffee or glass of wine. We had a fire in the pit a couple of times…stars were amazing. Nearby there are several good restaurants, but especially recommend the homemade blueberry soft serve ice cream at Me and Ben’s. The park at Schoodic Penensula is very close and what wonderful views. The main park is a lovely hour drive away and very easy to get to. There is a lot to do and see right around the house, too. Nice antique shops. Each day, however, we were so happy to get back to our lovely cottage. A few tips; buy your own firewood along the way at a “camp wood” station…need cash. Wi-Fi was not very strong. Groceries in Ellsworth is best place to get supplies. Hosts were prompt in reply and very helpful. Would highly recommend this stay!

"Cabin" In the Trees
Except for the stairs leading up to the apartment above the garage (manageable, but steep!), the place was a total delight and very clean. It was a bit like living in a tree house because you're up high in the middle of a woodsy area. We saw blue jays and a couple of cardinals enjoying themselves as we took in the view of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean just steps away. The short 10 minute drive to the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park was an adventure that almost left us speechless for its natural beauty. If you're looking for Maine's rocky, wild coastline, take time to visit this portion of Acadia and you will not be disappointed, and this "Cabin" in the trees is the perfect location for getting to the Park, and Campobello was a very manageable day trip away. I would come back in a heartbeat. A caution for those visiting Maine before Memorial Day or after Labor Day, a LOT of restaurants, shops, museums, etc. are closed, so do you research before you make your reservation.

Beautiful chalet with water view
The property was easy to find with GPS but off the beaten path. Owner was on-site (the chalet is the newly finished upstairs of a detached garage). Beautiful interior and well-appointed. Plenty of closet space in bedroom and living room. Wifi access, directv on HDTV in the living room. Bathroom has a rather small shower but the bathroom itself large and includes a washer/dryer combo. Full kitchen with oven/cooktop, microwave, toaster and full-size refrigerator. Small deck with water view and you can walk down to the water front where there are chairs and a fire pit. My teenage son slept well on the sleeper sofa. Everything is new and lovely. Good location for exploring the Schoodic peninsula. Be prepared for 45 minutes to an hour to Bar Harbor and the Mt. Desert Island entrances to Acadia. Also restaurants and markets in the area tend to close at 8pm, so plan accordingly. Would definitely stay again and only sorry we didn't have a longer stay this time.

Truly a Tranquil Retreat
Some folks have the gift of hospitality and John and Debby are prime examples of this. They have created a truly tranquil retreat on their property in Down East Maine. The chalet is located on their property, not in the main home and is ideally situated with a balcony and spectacular view of their water front property - the grounds are gorgeous. The layout, furniture, appliances, etc all feel like home and are in perfect condition. The owners are the kindest of people who allow you complete privacy and relaxation, but are also available to provide recommendations for food and activities in the area. This is the place to stay to be away from the throngs of people within Bar Harbor proper, and at the same time to have an incredible home base from which to visit Bar Harbor and surrounding areas. We had a blast venturing to so many places and activities during our stay and then loved each and every moment spent in this chalet. The sounds and smells of salty shore air, waves, trees, and wildlife were mesmerizing. Wandering down to the lawn, fire pit, and shore were always an option. Great morning coffee and evening craft brews on the balcony. Never going to forget our time there and want to return!!!
