We had a terrible experience at the Hilton DoubleTree in Poughkeepsie, NY, and ended up leaving shortly after checking in. We had to change rooms three times due to ongoing issues, and ultimately requested a refund.
The first room had an awful odor, like mildew or a wet dog, which made it unbearable to stay in. The second room had a door that wouldn’t close properly—we had to push it hard to get it to shut—and the air conditioning didn’t work. In the third room, despite maintenance assuring us that the AC would kick on in five minutes, it never did, even after waiting 15 minutes in the sweltering heat.
At that point, we gave up and left. For a Hilton property, this was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on our frustrating experience.
