This is a modern, bright and airy garden-level unit with a large, open living, dining and kitchen area and all the amenities you need (from wifi to coffee grinder) to live, work, entertain and explore Portland.

When you arrive, a large patio with built-in benches, table and comfortable lounge chairs greet you. Inside, an open living room, dining room and kitchen make a perfect place to hang out with family and friends. Three bedrooms allow for sleeping for 6 people, the couch in the living room or floor futon mattress can be used for extra sleeping space. Sleep great on our all new Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses featuring Serta's latest pressure relief technology and HeiQ V-Block technology for a cleaner sleep surface.

The location:
This inner Northeast Portland neighborhood is one of the coolest parts of the city. Alberta Street itself is lined with galleries, boutiques, several of Portland’s top restaurants as well as dozens of casual cafés and nightspots. Eat and drink your way down the street from Indian to Italian to Southern, slurping locally crafted coffee, beer and ice cream. Walking distance to several live music venues, a farmer’s market (summer) an organic food co-op and a top-notch restaurants. Minutes from the airport and minutes to downtown make it the perfect home base for an amazing stay in Portland.

The house is a duplex. The upper apartment, high gear, can also be rented for even larger group. It’s the perfect home base for wedding parties, reunions, workshops, family getaways, business meetings, etc. Need more room? No worries we have two more rentals in the chic Mississippi District a 5 minute drive away.

**We generally only accept 4-night stays especially during spring, summer, and holidays. However, we welcome shorter requests when the calendar allows, so please feel free to contact us about this. If you are interested in a shorter booking send an inquiry first before using instant book.**

Great overnight stay for us and friends
We had a great time in the home. This is the second time we have stayed in one of the host’s properties. Great location with great nearby restaurants and things to do in the Alberta arts district. The only complaint I have is that the coffee maker had old, moldy coffee in it which was a bit off-putting in the morning when making our coffee. The home was otherwise very clean and a great place to spend time for the night. We also enjoyed the free popcorn provided :)

Graduation weekend with family
We had a great experience from check-in until the time we left. The place is nicely appointed and has a Portland artsy feel. We were able to have family together to celebrate my son’s college graduation in a comfortable space. The only thing that was a challenge is finding street parking in the busy neighborhood. My mother-in-law uses a cane and can’t always walk long distances so it took some persistence to find a good spot. But the area is fun and safe.

My family and I came to visit family in Portland and had a wonderful time all thanks to the beautiful home we were in. All of the little details and recommendations from Michelle helped tremendously. We did not have to use are vehicle at all! We had family come over and visit and they loved the rental just as much as we did. The home was spacious, comfortable, organized and very unique. Thank you for an amazing birthday week! We definitely hope to rent this space in the future.

The perfect family reunion
Our stay at High Gear was absolutely exceptional. Three generations gathering together for the holidays - Grandma, three sisters, and their children, some meeting for the first time. That in itself was special, but having such a lovely space that immediately felt like home was truly delightful. The location was perfect - close to the airport for pickups, short drive to ice skating and Zoo exploration, and parking was easy to find. The teenagers loved people watching on Alberta! I wish we had more time to enjoy the many shops, murals, and restaurants nearby, but Bamboo and Tin Shed were great! The home is so well designed, the perfect blend of historical charm and modern flair. We loved reading about its history! The beds were very comfortable, especially after two overnight flights. Space was ample for our group of 10, the kitchen was well-stocked to execute several large meals, and we loved the incorporation of sustainable products and practices. Michelle and Klaas are perfect hosts - attentive, generous, and clearly looking out for their guests to have a memorable experience. I will absolutely come back and stay at their property!

Our multigenerational family (grandparents, parents, and kids) had a truly lovely stay at this hip, quintessentially Portland old-meets-modern house. Located right in the heart of our favorite Portland neighborhood, we all loved eating takeout from Montelupo Market on the ambient back patio and found the house equipped with everything we needed and more. We had a great experience staying here. The house was clean and welcoming. There were charming touches that made the house unique. It was extremely easy to check in and out. On-site parking would have been the only improvement but we were always able to find a spot within a block or two.
