Excellent Location, Close to Parks, Groceries, Single Level Detached Retreat, 15 Minutes to Portland

Rules note: This property is completely non smoking of any kind. It is an adult only rental so please no kiddos for the reasons mentioned above. There are also no pets, no firearms, and no fireworks. Pets of any kind cannot be allowed as this property is an allergy sensitive area. There is room for one vehicle out front so please limit yourself to that. "There is one security camera placed outside which is facing outward and not guest focused. Please ask if you have any questions regarding this."

This rental is intended for Adults. Due to the concrete floors, the owner does not feel it safe to have young children in here who may fall on the floor. There is also a small pathway up to the front door that has a pebbled walkway and step up, so we recommend those who can walk easily unassisted.

This is a bright, modern, one bedroom guesthouse sitting at 753 square feet. It comes with your own complete kitchen, entrance, parking space, and front yard on a quiet street. The guest house is behind the owners main home, which is roughly 30 feet away.

If you are in need of a peaceful retreat within a 15-minute drive to downtown Portland, 10 minutes to the popular Sellwood, Division, or Hawthorne districts of Portland, you have found it. The Woodstock neighborhood is great for biking, a walk to Woodstock Boulevard for stores & eateries, or a stroll in the park. Reed College is about one mile away, as are five different parks, and The Rhododendron Gardens.

The guesthouse sits behind the main house and the owners. They are wonderful caretakers of both properties and you may see them pop by for a quick hello. They will respect all the privacy you need but certainly want all guests to know they are available if anything comes up.

If you are looking for a longer stay, that is possible too. Whether a travelling nurse, a visiting professor, or someone looking to relocate to the area, the Under the Cedars Guesthouse will be quite convenient. It's a perfect fit for those commuting to OHSU, Providence Hospital, Portland State University, and so many more.

Please note that the address in the listing is our main house address, so in directions, you will be given specific directions onto 50th avenue where the guesthouse is located. You have access to the whole guesthouse and its own front yard. We want you to have a good time, but we would ask that you respect us and our neighbors by keeping your noise down; quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am weeknights, and 11 pm to 8 am weekends. ONLY guests included in your reservation are able to be in or on our property, unless you make special arrangements with us in advance. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all.

The Wifi in the guesthouse is fully operational for watching movies, phone calls, and connecting to work websites. Bandwidth may not be adequate for gaming. Hosts are also on the network

The guesthouse is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood and only a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive to Woodstock where there are restaurants, shops, and stores to enjoy!

Quiet great place!
This is our 2nd time staying here… love the location…quiet and clean. I do suggest updating bedding. The pillows really need updating… the comforter & blanket don’t add much warmth. ( seen better days)😉 after a day of hiking or shopping you want to crawl into a cozy bed. The kitchen faucet does need tightening.. (it turns all over the place…)

Wonderful Place
The location was very quiet and nice. The home was well stocked with books, utensils, bathroom supplies, etc. The binder had tons of ideas for things to do and places to eat in the area. It was the perfect place to have a quiet getaway. The hosts were very attentive and checked in via text to make sure I had everything I needed. Great place, would definitely stay again.

Cute little home away from home.
Appreciated how clean and organized this little place is. The property managers thought of everything including detergent pods for the washer and dishwasher. Nice bed that was great for my hubby who has had multiple back surgeries. We would stay here again.

When I arrived, 2 windows were open, the unit was freezing, and it smelled strongly of cleaning agents which remained during my stay. The heat took 2 hours to work but the management responded well about that issue. There were no hand towels and I thought that wasn't provided until I read the guidebook two days into my stay. I called and was brought 2 hand towels, the gray one was in poor condition with bleach stains on it. The bathroom carpet was ripped and posed a trip hazard. I have some photos if the management wants to see them.There is conflicting information about checkout. The sign in the bedroom says 11:00 am but was advertised as 10:00 am checkout. They need to update their information. Each morning, there was a very noisy machine in the neighborhood which woke me up. The outdoor light which comes on automatically did not work so I used my phone's flashlight to open and close the door at night. FInally, it would be nice if the owners provided coffee for the money that I was paying and not just the Maxwell house in the refrigerator that a previous renter left (the owners told me that when I arrived.)

When you stay somewhere and think, I'd happily stay here permanently, what more can you say? It was one of the best appointed places we've ever stayed with all drawers and cabinets labeled and well stocked with utensils and appliances. The space is well designed and very comfortable. I stayed at this property with my partner to celebrate his 35th birthday in Portland. The location of the guest house was perfect for the things we wanted to do. The street was quiet, the neighborhood felt safe, and the interior was very well maintained. An easy check in and check out process made this a go-to spot to stay in next time I want to visit Portland.

A good location, Poor property management
I want to preface by saying the owner and his wife is very pleasant. However when I brought up how mold and was found on some towels and in drawers in the bathroom- there was not a sense of urgency or a tone of apology about this major issue. Especially for someone who has a history of asthma, I was disappointed by the lack of options provided for me or a lack of initiative. It was clear when we weren’t home, because the car wasn’t parked in front and this problem could have been easily resolved. Or even if some kind of compensation was offered, that would let me know how serious you are taking this issue. Just disappointing

Under the Cedars is the perfect cozy cottage for a visit to Portland! I was there for 16 days. It was clean and comfortable-great for 1-2 people. It was stocked with everything I needed for my stay, and it was clean. Management responded to questions worn 5 minutes. I highly recommend this property!

Trying to find the place at night in a cab was pretty awful. My daughter who lives in Portland had trouble finding the place, the next day. The problem is if you approach from the north, the locals have the alley the street turns into blocked with logs and stumps. They also go out of their way to glare at you. And that is NOT a photograph of the exterior--it is what it more or less looks like, but it is much closer to the road. It was quite, though. They do have a sign out front indicating it is a managed property. The place itself seems like a former garage or workshop--cement floors with throw rugs. We apparently were there for the start of sugar ant season, though the management came over with some traps. They really didn't do much good, and my wife was pretty grossed out by them. The management was good about extending our stay when we missed out plane. We appreciated that.
