clean, warm and homely and walking distance to shops/pub
Lovely situation at the edge of field and near the coast path. House was charming, bordering on quirky (please don't do it up!) and spotlessly clean with a lovely home from home feel to it. Not fancy, a bit old fashioned, it won't suit people who like hot tubs & underfloor heating, but we loved it. Owners left fresh flowers in almost every room, biscuits, milk, tea and coffee were all waiting. Lovely long garden and dog friendly. Just what we needed for a short break. Added bonus was that the coast path, local shops, post office (in the Co-op), fish & chippy, pub & bistro were all within easy walking distance. The only problem booking through HomeAway was the extra commission charged for handling it for cottages.com - book through the former directly but beware (!) I had lots of cold calling to my mobile afterwards - so much so I had to install a blocking app. So don't give out a phone number you use much - it might even be worth buying a cheap SIM card just for this. I ticked the opt out on the HomeAway site, paid the commission and was routed to cottages.com to pay the rest. There was no opt out to junk marketing there that I could see here. This came only afterwards in the small print with my booking confirmation and despite emailing the organisation controlling cottages.com (Wyndham Vacation Rentals which has many other holiday brands http://www.wynvr.co.uk/our-brands.php ) within 15 minutes, I have been plagued by junk calls ever since. I did call cottages.com (who denied it could be them but could not tell me my marketing preferences) and wrote again to the umbrella company, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, asking them to desist but they did not even acknowledge my email. The calls are getting more sinister - silent one way hidden number Skype type probe calls (lots of 0s ending with a 1). A real downer to the holiday booking.
