The owner was extremely rude to me
The check in process went very well, the property is very nice. It’s not that close to the beach (30 mins walk) so ideally only suited to those with a car. The property has all the amenities you need.
We were due to go to the splash part on day 4 of our stay, but the evening before we noticed the hot water wasn’t working. The maintenance / cleaning lady was so helpful and arrived straight away. Unfortunately the fault couldn’t be fixed that day and we were told we would need to wait until 6pm the next day with no hot water. I was quite unhappy with this and suggested we find alternative accommodation for that night / day. The owner became very angry and abusive with me , accused of trying to profit from him when I asked for compensation, told me not to leave England if I don’t like it abroad and hung up. I was deeply upset and shaken by his anger towards me.
That evening I received a further text from the maintenance lady to say someone could now come out the next morning and that I need to wait in. We therefore cancelled plans to go to the splash park and waited in.
We received no apology, or compensation for the fault, having to wait in for the workman.
We also had a leak to the en suite toilet during our stay which made it quite unhygienic when using the bathroom. We didn’t report this as I was too scared of the abusive owner.
We made the most of our stay, Alvor is a lovely place, but I was very concerned that a man would become so angry and abusive towards a customer and would not recommend dealing with someone with such aggression issues.
