Historic 1875 Victorian-Pear Tree Manor - close to downtown, Lake Huron, & river

Have you ever wanted a peek into a 148 yr old home? Not only can you see one, but you can stay in one of Port Huron's historic homes with original features intact. Built circa 1875, the Shingle Style Victorian, Pear Tree Manor still has original features such as 5 leaded glass windows with wavy glass, original gasolier lights converted to electric, unpainted original woodwork, majolica fireplace tile & carriage house. Come find the "secret" back staircase to what was the maid's room in the past.

We require the booking person to stay in the home for the booking days/nights as the responsible point of contact. We do not allow bookings for someone else or other people. We welcome children and because of the historical nature of the home, we ask that parents keep an eye on them while in the home and on the property.

Location, location, location! Pear Tree Manor is the perfect location for all the fun things to do in Port Huron. The house sits across the street from Pine Grove Park, 2 min. walk to the river, 5 min. walk to downtown Port Huron (1 min. drive), and 5 min. drive to Lighthouse Beach. You can see the Blue Water bridge from the second floor and see freighters heading down the river from the front porch. The riverfront walkway at the bridge is a short 2 min. drive or 17 min. walk along the river from the house. McLaren hospital is one block away.

Pear Tree Manor is in a location approximate to downtown, parks, river, and beaches. You can walk to downtown and to the water. It has onsite parking with 4 parking spots. It has a fully stocked kitchen, luxurious bedding and linens, and modern updates yet keeps the integrity of a fine historic Victorian home. Beach towels are provided for your trip to the many nearby beaches. Come sit and enjoy the cool breezes from the lake with some coffee, tea, or beer on the covered front porch. The grassy backyard has patio seating and a gas grill for your outdoor relaxation. Grab a book and relax on the front porch from the sharing library that is located in the front yard.

Do not book this home for employee housing. We are not set up for that. This is a historic home with delicate historic surfaces.

Do not book for a party. We have cameras and if you violate our guest policy, you will have to vacate immediately and will not receive a refund. If you’re interested in hosting a reception or small party on the property, please contact us directly for those details and separate pricing.

We are a no smoking, drug-free house. No smoking means cigarettes, vaping, incense and Weed. It also means no open flames (candles, etc.) inside the house, on the porches, stoops, stairs or while standing near or against the garage or house. Our only smoking area is the rear patio where our tall ashtray is on the patio table. Thank you for respecting this requirement. There are electric candles inside the house if you need ambiance.

We ask that all of our guests do not leave valuables in cars, lock the house when you leave. For emergencies, call 911.

Even though we love our furry friends, no pets are allowed on the property. There are excellent local pet boarding places in the area. Pear Tree Manor is not one of them.

Please respect closed doors and locked areas.

Please ask if you have questions. Thank you.

Nicely Maintained but no air conditioning
The owners have done a great job of maintaining this historical Victorian house. It's close to downtown and walkable to Pine Grove Park and the water. However, it sits right on Pine Grove ave making it fairly noisy. It is also not air conditioned and not all the windows open. I think one window per room works. While we were there the inside temper was 85 degrees. There is also only one shower and it's on the first floor next to the kitchen. I was having to bring everything downstairs just to shower and dress.

Enjoyable Relaxing Trip
We came to Port Huron to relax and fish and chose this place for the location and convenience to the river, only a couple of blocks. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evenings.

Beautiful home, great location!!!
We weren’t sure what to expect. However, this house was fantastic comfortable and felt like home. We traveled from Grand Rapids to host a family Christmas gathering. Everyone loved the place and enjoyed himself and complemented the house. It was much better than staying in a hotel and the price was comparable, if not better. This house has all the amenities of home which a hotel cannot compete with. The only thing I would change are the bushes along the side of the driveway that make it hard to get in and out of your car. I would remove these. Thank you for a wonderful experience we will undoubtedly schedule something for next Christmas.

We had so much fun in Port Huron. Driving around looking at all of the old homes was so much fun. Visiting the Ft. Gratiot Lighthouse, Blue Water River Walk, Blue Water Bridge, Thomas Edison Parkway Boardwalk, Huron Lightship Museum, so many fun things. Just hanging out at the house was fun too. The clawfoot tubs were great for a relaxing bath too!!

Historical Port Huron home
We were here for a family funeral. Family came in from all over the country. This home was perfect for the family to gather. The home has a gentle vibe to it. One that adds to reflection and sharing of memories. The rooms were set up so people could sit and visit. Great sleeping quarters. Lovely backyard and our favorite spot was the front porch. Each evening we congregated there and relaxed in the wicker chairs and loveseat. Overall, this is the place to share with friends and family when visiting Port Huron. Reading the history of the home and checking out the different rooms and areas of the home was delighful. One can actually imagine what it was like in the 1800s and 1900s in this great home. Would definitely come back.

Nice historic house
Our family of 5 enjoyed this house very much. Sitting on the porch in the evenings was very enjoyable. The window a/c and the many fans around the house helped a lot on the 2 hot nights we had.

Great historic home on the St. Clair River. Fabulous architecture from a time long ago. Immaculately clean with charming furnishings and interesting appointments. Worth pointing out that this home does not have central air which is noted on the listing. Other than the warm nights, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
