20 METERS FROM THE PORT, boats, restaurants. Spacious house. Private parking.

L'ESCALE DU VIEUX PORT: Large old house in the heart of a fishing village 20m from the port, completely renovated and tastefully decorated by an interior designer. Enjoy the gym or the main room with TV (French, English and German channels), home cinema, radio, books and games to spend time with your family. This house offers you large spaces. The large kitchen and the living room blend harmoniously and the friendly bedrooms invite you to linger. The fireplace with log storage offers privacy and comfort. 2 bathrooms are at your disposal: one on the ground floor with the gym and the other near the bedrooms upstairs. All rooms are independent from each other. Due to the port life with traders, restaurants and fishermen nearby, you can enjoy the life of a fishing port and be in direct contact with the inhabitants. Buying fresh fish here is as easy as croissants in the morning.
The region also invites you to relax with its cycle paths, its 36-hole golf course near our house, our coastal paths, etc...

Our Region: It offers a very wide variety of very interesting historical sites. In addition to the well-known D-Day landing villages (OMAHA, ARROMANCHES, PORT EN BESSIN, the first Allied oil port, LA POINTE DU HOC, LA CAMBE, etc.), you can visit the many castles and mansions in our region, as well as the very beautiful towns of BAYEUX, which has retained all of its historical harmony. The COTENTIN awaits you with the ports of ST VAAST LA HOUGUE, BARFLEUR, CHERBOURG, the GATTEVILLE lighthouse, the NEZ DE JOBOURG cliffs, etc. Then you can continue to MONT SAINT MICHEL, preferably in the morning to avoid the crowds. Magnificent landscapes, because everything is accessible in a few minutes by car... The romantics will also set sail for the CHAUSEY or TATIHOU islands...

Our history. You are certainly interested in the events that took place during the last war in our region. Know that my family lived during this period in PORT EN BESSIN HUPPAIN and that it actively participated, as a merchant, in supplying the inhabitants, in the DDAY events and in the reconstruction of the country. I will be happy to let you know…

Memorable stay
Excellent location, beautifully decorated, very well equipped. Lots of leaflets and books on the area and the Normandy Landings in particular. The owner, Mr Langlois, was so knowledgable about the town's past that his family had lived through. Plenty of places to eat, and it was very interesting to see the busy fishing harbour.

We had a wonderful stay the house was lovely, spacious, and well equipped. The town itself was great, lovely shops, amazing crepes and a fantastic market on Sundays. The host went out of his way to make us feel welcome and was extremely informative. Overall a wonderful experience would highly recommend, we’re sad to be leaving such a lovely house and town.

Wonderful Normandy Holiday
This is a wonderful property. We stayed here before in 2019, so we knew this is a great apartment in a cool fishing village. We stayed for two weeks this year and had a great time. M. Langlois is the perfect host! We had several interesting conversations about Normandy, Port-en-Bessin, and the French and Americans. We have stayed in many properties all over France; this is one of the very best.

Great stay in spacious town house, 20 paces from dockside, with private, secure car parking. Landlord Jean Francois extremely helpful. He speaks knowledgeably and passionately about the D-day landings,Port en Bessin, and the involvement of his family and neighbours. A stay here is recommended

Fabulous Port-en-Bessin
Fantastic property in the perfect location. Great hosts who are available with plenty of information about the local area and history. Very accommodating and friendly. House is exactly as described and we found it larger than it looked in the photos. Despite the time of year we had some lovely sunny days and got to enjoy the “goût du large” event on the weekend of our arrival., definitely an added bonus. Great location from which to explore the Normandy coastline and WW2 sites.

Centrally located, with the bonus of secure off-street parking
This lovely old house is right in the centre of town, close to the fishing port, and it has been nicely refurbished by the owner, especially the 1st and 2nd floors (living room/kitchen/dining area on 1st floor and bedroom areas on 2nd floor). There is a washing machine and extra toilet on the ground floor. The secure off street parking is very useful and the location is (by car) very convenient for visiting key WWII D-day locations and the Bayeux tapestry. The fishing port itself has a rich history in which the owner is very knowledgeable and he is happy to take time to share his stories and answer questions. Communication with the owner was excellent, and he went out of his way to provide additional information to ensure we had a fabulous stay at Port-en-Bessin-Huppain!

Wonderful!
I so appreciate when the owner goes to the effort to make small touches to the property to make it a home. For example, a small table and chair in the bedroom to apply makeup. Lovely white sheets and quality towels . The tv in the bedroom was a plus. The kitchen was very well appointed, as I cook. Quality cookware and very nice dishes and glassware as we did entertain . Mr. Francois could not have been more kind. He escorted us to the local farmer’s market and guided us to the best vendors, Just a kind , thoughtful man. So lovely to meet such a thoughtful owner who truly cares about his renters.

Very happy stay in a charming house and lively village.
We felt very comfortable in this lovely house. It is well located for exploring the historic landing beaches and set within a lively village, with plenty of amenities. Our amicable hosts Mr & Mrs Langlois ensured we had everything we needed as well as respecting our privacy. A special thank you to Patrick who was always ready to assist and advise whenever needed. Overall a very enjoyable holiday with happy memories. Thank you.

Charm and convenience right in the heart of Normandy
My parents, wife and I spent 7 days at the property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is larger than in the pictures, offers a great kitchen and three levels of living, while being in walking distance to three grocery stores and several restaurants in Port-en-Bessin. Jean (owner) was extremely helpful and welcoming, and even went above and beyond to help us get our parking pass to re-enter the town during the D-Day ceremonies. We would recommend this property and would absolutely stay here again if in the area. Pro’s: ——- + Large, modern space + Spacious kitchen and dining area. We cooked several meals on the stove with no problem + Two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All well equipped and the bedrooms have design charm being on the third floor with exposed beam ceilings + Laundry (washing) on-site, with room to hang clothes + Some workout equipment in the lower level + Great location. Right in the heart of Port en Bessin, walking distance to several restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy and shops Also, driving to the landing beaches and museums was very convenient + Attentive, available and helpful owner + Good working Wi-Fi + Parking space right next to the home + Good light inside the home Con’s ——- - Lower floor toilet was slow to work and the lower floor bathroom is not very private. It is more of a shared space. - We were not able to understand how to use the oven, so some directions would be helpful - The beds are a little small. More like double bed size. - It was not an issue for us, but the property has a lot of stairs, so if you have a mobility issue, please be aware

Normandy Gem
We have stayed in many gites in all parts of France. This apartment is one of the best and most comfortable. The flat was even better in real life than the photos on the web site. The little fishing village was a great base for exploring Normandy, close to everything. I highly recommend this property!

Beautiful house in Port en Bessin and a great location for local sight seeing
I really have no negative or even neutral comments about our stay, everything was perfect. We are a family of 3 with a young baby who enjoyed the house as much as we did and there was a second bedroom with a travel cot set up for us when we arrived. There is plenty of space at the house and the open plan kitchen/diner is a lovely area to enjoy breakfasts and evening meals. Port en Bessin is a beautiful town with several restaurants and gift shops as well as the more practical shops such as a small supermarket and bakery etc. I recommend a visit to the fish market at the port, just a minutes walk from the house, where you can buy all sorts of fresh fish and shell fish. The location is ideal for sight seeing with the Omaha beach just a 10 minute drive away, there are numerous museums, as well as day trips to Bayeux and Caen, all just a short drive away. We visited Mont St Michel one day which was a little over an hours drive through very pleasant countryside. If you are travelling from UK on Brittany ferries then the house is ~50 minute drive from the port. In summary I cannot recommend this property enough for a couple or small family.

Excellent property
This is a very good quality property with everything you will need for your stay. All the fittings are of excellent quality and there is ample provision of utensils and crockery. The ground floor has a utility room and useful gym area with an exercise bike and some exercise equipment. The house is located just 2 minutes' walk from the numerous restaurants, bars and shops on the quayside. An added bonus is the secure gated parking next to the house which is at the rear of the owners' shop. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and always willing to help if needed. Port-en- Bessin is a small fishing port so there is ample opportunity to sample the local seafood. It is well-placed for visits to the invasion beaches and museums and is only a few minutes' drive from Bayeux. The surrounding countryside offers lots of opportunities for walking and cycling and beautiful views over the Channel. Would definitely recommend this property and we hope to visit again soon.

GREAT GEM !! Even Better than Photos.
Three-story, very comfortable house, right in the center of Port en-Bessin-Huppain. Two bedrooms on third floor, two good bath rooms. One on first floor, one on third floor. Attractive living room , dining area and extraordinarily well equipped kitchen should you prefer to cook. Dedicated gated parking on premise. Otherwise there are a number of fine small restaurants nearby. Designed with taste, modernity and comfort in mind. A word of caution: stairs make this house potentially not suitable for the infirm elderly. We had no problems and are all above 75 years of age. (The owners, the Langlois family, runs a terrific store just around the corner and are very responsive. Do check it out: Cider, wine, calvados, cheese, and numerous other delectables. All very tempting.) We would gladly return. Port en-Bessin is perfectly located for touring the Invasion sites, as well as Bayeux, Caen, Honfleur, and the Cherbourg areas. Go to the tourist bureau across the picturesque harbor; the bureau is particularly helpful as well.

Wonderful week in a beautiful home!
The house was a perfect size for 2 couples. It was beautifully furnished and had everything to make our stay feel like home. It appeared to have been completely renovated recently with new windows, floors, and a modern bathroom. The kitchen and dining space was spacious and perfect for cooking, conversing, and eating. We spent the majority of our time here. The only caution I can write is there are to sets of stairs to access the main living space and the bedrooms. If you have any physical handicaps with climbing stairs this may be a challenge for you. It was not for us. We loved Port-En-Bessin, a small fishing village. We walked to the fish market and bakery every morning and bought fresh fish and pastries for the meals of the day. They have a fantastic farmers market on Sunday that you cannot miss! The location of Port-En-Bessin was ideal for day trips throughout the Normandy region. A nice surprise for my husband was a 27 hole golf course in walking distance from the house. I cannot say enough about how beautiful and quaint this town is and how much we enjoyed our stay!

Very well located and comfortable
My 12 year old grandson and I enjoyed our stay at the Langlois's rental property in Port en Bessin. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms provided great separation when some quiet time was needed but the welcoming kitchen and living area was very pleasant for both of us. Mr. Langlois kindly provided some firewood so we could light a fire on a rainy night. The kitchen is very well equipped with cooking wear and dishes if one should choose to make meals however that is not necessary as Port en Bessin has good restaurants within a few minutes walk. Groceries and a good bakery are also very close by and it is not necessary to drive for supplies. The area is very convenient for Normandy beaches and other sight seeing. I would certainly stay there again. On site parking for my car was a real bonus as one did not have to worry about finding a spot on the narrow street. Very happy with my choice.
