Great place with an awesome host! It had everything we needed and was easy to access and located close to our fishing spots. We will be booking again!!
Great little cabin tucked away under the Rainbow Bridge on Neches River. Window A/C unit froze up and there are no local channels so we could not watch the LSU football game. Other than these 2 issues, would def stay here again!
There was a dirty hand towel hanging on the wall of the shower and the tub needs a water filter on it like the shower. I was looking forward to a bath but the water was brown without a filter. Otherwise a perfect stay!
The house is nice and clean. I stayed there because i wanted to go fishing. It was cold so I assume that's why we didn't get one bite. The bathtub was another reason I chose this property. Once i turned on the shower, however, I realized I would not be taking a bubble bath because the water was smelly. I guess because of the water behind the house. Not the owner's fault. There was no rule book or any directions at the property. Only the phone number for the contact and the wifi password. I would stay there again.
Having gorwn up in the area, literally about one mile away, and spent a large amount of time in the area of this rental, it was exactly what we expected. It was clean and decorated well. It had everything we needed for our brief stay.
I wanted to address the previous comments about the water. There is just a slight tint of iron in the water I am sure it is the result of older piping, or possibly the supply. I am not certain but they may not be on municipal water. Regardless, it is perfectly fine to use and even drink. There is no bad taste or odors.
We will definitely use this rental again.
A hidden gem for the serious fisherman. This location is perfect for a small/large boat - fresh/salt water fishing. You can moor your boat in the back yard; no need to load and unload your boat daily. Boat ramp within walking distance. The small neighborhood has some of the most friendly and helpful people around.
If your looking for a fishing trip that guarantees catching fish with out an expensive guide this is it!
We fished everywhere - offshore, Jetties, Pass, Lake, and rivers. This place has the fish. We landed the following.
AmberJack - Wow fun catch..
Black Drum
Flounder - were abundant but, our tackle was over sized.
King Mackerel - If you can get offshore around oil rigs
Sheepshead
Red Fish
Tripple Tail - We did not land it - Almost !
GaphTop Catfish
Hard Head
Sting Ray
Striped Bass
If your going to the Jetties or in open water you will need fishing license for La and Tx or, watch your boundaries. This is a LARGE area for fishing; be sure your boat is ready for the vast area you can cover. We were out everyday for a week and used several hundred gallons of fuel.
A fishing guide will charge 800-1000/day - No fishing Guide needed here! This is the best deal if you like fishing!
We had a great stay at Captain's Cabin. We were looking for a place on Sabine Lake that had great access to our favorite fishing spots and Captain's Cabin suited our needs perfectly.
The house and yard were very clean and well appointed. There was ample room for parking and the area is safe and extremely quiet.
David, the property owner ,was extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend Captain's Cabin to anyone.
Everything was perfect but no pull out couch, it's a pull out ottoman with a big stain that was still damp so friend had to sleep on couch that wasn't long enough.
Cabin is as described and we'll maintained. The location is great being on the water and just a few properties down from a boat ramp. If you're looking for a good spot reasonably priced to stay for a few days and to launch your boat, this is a great option. It's nothing fancy, but we'll kept, nicely decorated, and it's nice to sit out on the back patio or down next to the water and watch the sunset. The Host, David, was nice and quickly responded when I was letting him know I was getting in. No major issues at all. If I had to write one negative, it would be the running water has a major rust color to it likely due to old pipes, so bring drinking water with you. Other than that, all was great. Thanks David for hosting me.
This is a wonderful stay, but it is not for someone who has trouble with stairs. Bedroom and bathroom doors are historic ship doors and have a bulkhead you have to step over. I had no problems there. Was worried about bridge traffic noise only heard it once or twice. Owner is great to communicate with. I will be staying here again when I’m visiting friends.
