"We chose this hotel because it was an hour from Santander and just off our main route from Portugal to the ferry port for the UK. Lovely town with impressive old centre and lovely riverside walks. Lively market the day we arrived (Tuesday). Be aware that self-parking is actually free on-street parking but area seems very secure so we left most of our extensive contents in car and had no problem. Also,hotel restaurant non-functioning so sought dinner in town and nowhere open until 9pm. But...

"Great hotel in a fantastic location with wonderful views of the valley and griffon vultures circling above the cliffs opposite. No restaurant meals on Wednesday as the chef has a day off but the bar menu was a fine alternative. It's a bit tricky to reach the hotel as the village's roads a very narrow and steep but it's not a problem with a little care."

"Arrived late afternoon so had to ring as no one on reception. Arrived promptly. Very helpful. Room was spacious clean and comfortable. (Approx 2hrs) The guesthouse adjacent to the bar/cafe was warm and clean, well kept no-frills accommodation and served the purpose.
