Spend an idyllic week – or more – at this lovely cottage on coveted Snow Beach. The cottage is nestled in the forest, but walk out the door and you are on the path to paradise. Enjoy your morning coffee in the Adirondack chairs watching the spectacular sunrises, or sip your coffee while strolling the beach listening for the haunted cry of the loon and seeing what the waves brought in overnight. Days spent at the beach can be anything you choose but it will be an experience like no other. Whether you choose to float peacefully or play vigorously in the clear Lake Huron water, or relax in a lounge chair and watch the freighters pass, Snow Beach will delight and restore you. The island boasts numerous hiking trails to explore; several historic sites; a six-mile bike ride or drive will take you to the north shore where Mackinac island and the Mackinac bridge can be viewed, along with a pebbly beach where beach glass has been known to be found. There are three inland lakes for fishing - Lake Mary has a beautiful dock with benches so non-fishermen can be included in the fun.
Evenings at Snow Beach are magical: watch the deer strolling the beach at dusk; after dinner build a campfire and marvel at the night sky; or fall asleep to the soothing call of Poe Reef Light, which can be seen from the cottage.
The airy cottage is decorated in a pastel nautical theme with a well-appointed kitchen and bathroom with a stand-up shower. There is a collection of books on the Great Lakes and Bois Blanc Island history, and several games and puzzles are available for your enjoyment. There is also a TV with DVD player and a limited collection of movies. No Wi-Fi at the cottage but the the general store, Island Diner is under new ownership and may offer.
