"I loved everything about Totoco. The rooms, the location, the staff, the food, the views, it was a very comfortable stay! I got a full body massage from Lydia and it was the best I ever had in my life. Miguel seemed to be in charge of things and he was extremely helpful, kind, and accommodating. Pictures don’t do justice of this place. The property is full off the most beautiful gardens with crowds of butterflies overlooking the lake and volcano. There are bugs, but that’s what you’re going to get for being in such a beautiful location. The road going up there is also very rocky and I found a bit difficult to get up and down on my motorbike - just something to think about. Wouldn’t have been as bad with a quad or car. If you aren’t seasoned I would recommend parking it somewhere along the bottom of the mountain, when you first pull onto the road and just walk up/down from there. I walked at night in the dark to and from and felt completely safe the entire time, although there are dogs that will bark. I didn’t pay them any attention and they did not bother me. 10/10!!!"

"I loved our stay at this resort! It had a beautiful view of the volcano. A lovely beach is right beyond the back gates. The staff was very helpful and always way to find for what ever we needed. I enjoyed the food we had there. It is a very tranquil spot. Our taxi driver had no issues finding the place from the ferry. The cabanas were very clean and comfortable with good air conditioning. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the front porch in the morning."

"Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had 4 hours of arguing over check in. Wouldn’t recognize my reservation and made me pay double for a different room. Every time I we agreed on a term they would throw something different at me. It was the last room in town for the Easter holiday. My family couldn’t get any sleep with all the partying going on and then they started doing masonry work at 6 am. It is the worst hotel stay I have ever encountered. Even the hotels.com agent couldn’t talk any sense into them. I can’t emphasize enough to stay away from this hotel"

"They certainly knew how to make us feel like we were an inconvenience from check in through to fixing problems, having breakfast and checking out. Things didn't feel great at the beginning so I had a chat with hotels.com support and we stayed as at least we got into our room. The first thing to say is that in a little while this might be a great place to stay. I got the impression they were new to it and almost everything was undergoing extensive renovations. It was impossible to chill out in the afternoon as the noise from the renovations made it impossible. Breakfast was very noisy too as the works had already started. Also, the breakfast menu said pancakes and fruit but when challenged I was told it's only pancakes. Nice as they were, I don't understand the lack of fruit. Anyone staying should be aware that the swimming pool is only knee deep except for one side which is deeper. There are no warnings about this or advice not to dive in. As I said, I think they will get there, but even at check out they were banging on the door at 1000 sharp to get us out of the room as quickly as possible."
