"Although only a two star rated hotel, and because of this only requesting a 50c. per night accommodation tax, the Sofia has a big plus in that guests have access to a swimming pool and snackbar/drinks bar area which is part of the Sofia apartments unit just down the road. As the hotel is family - run, the lady on reception also cooks breakfast, offering a good range of continental -style foods and also freshly cooked eggs, which can either be eaten in the dining room or in a cool open-air...

"Great place, good location, clean and spacious rooms, we had a half bath, never had one of those in Greece. My only niggle was the maid stood outside our door at 10am waiting to clean the room(we like a lie in on holiday) every morning, apart from the day we left."

"The hotel is smart, but nothing happens there. Eg. There is a rooftop bar and pool but no one uses it because it is not stocked and there is no encouragement to use it. The same with the bar and lounge on the ground floor. The rooms are comfortable and smart, but could do with Coffee & Tea making facilities. "The hotel is under construction while they sell online rooms. We booked on 29th of May and till 5th July they did not even inform us regarding the fact that they will not provide accomondation. We reached the hotel after our reservation driving 1 hour from Rethymno town and they did not even apologize for not having an available room for our reservation."
