The Hummingbird house was built on Placencia Caye a Caribbean island to enjoy the relaxing ocean breeze and serene views. It’s conveniently located a 3 minute boat ride from the center of Placencia Village. Complimentary WIFI and boat transportations between the house and the village is provided 24/7 for guests. House is suitable for kids 10 and older and should be swimmers.

The Hummingbird house is a large, fully furnished, 3 bedroom-2.5 bathroom house. Its elegant and modern design features various Belizean hardwoods and a spacious floor plan. The entrance leads to a bright foyer, bathroom and large covered patio, perfect napping in the shade. A curved staircase takes you to the upstairs living area where you are met with high ceilings expansive ocean views. The ocean facing interior walls are constructed of tall sliding glass panels and can be open to extend the living area outside and allow a cooling breeze. The balcony wraps around the house, providing breathtaking views over the lush coconut trees. The kitchen is fully equipped and the dining room and living room are furnished with local, artisan-built wood doors, windows, cabinetry and furniture. South facing you'll find two bedrooms, one if which has french doors that open to the balcony. North facing is the master suite, which has an upscale bathroom and outdoor shower. This bedroom also has balcony access. The private dock overlooks the ocean and harbor. Our onsite caretaker will be happy to ferry you to and from Placencia Village. He can also direct you to a variety of restaurants, bars, boutiques and outdoor activities to enjoy.

What to expect during your stay?
You will need to arrange pick up at airport or book with local airlines to Placencia (Maya Island Air or Tropic Island Air).
Taxis will be waiting in Placencia to take you to the main dock for Hummingbird House boat transportation to the island.

We stayed at Hummingbird House for 10 days. The property is meticulously maintained; Edwin and his family are so accommodating and wonderful; sunrises and sunsets are incredible; tour guides picked us up at the house and delivered us back afterward; Edwin had great recommendations for tours and restaurants. It was overall a wonderful trip!!!

Nothing Ho-hum About Hummingbird House
From the moment we were greeted at the municipal pier by Edwin & his wife, until we said our goodbyes, our entire stay was wonderful! The house is gorgeous with huge, expansive views, both front and back, of water, boats, and the village. We loved floating, swimming, and paddleboarding off the dock, where we saw tons of ocean life! The entire stay was like a dream, and Edwin & family helped us in every way to enjoy our stay in Placencia.

Beautiful home in idyllic setting
Hummingbird House is simply stunning with open plan living and ample space for socialising. The views are spectacular and Edwin, the caretaker, is very helpful and informative and boat trips to the beach and to the mainland for dinner makes the stay even more special.

Fantastic setting, Edwin and family were great hosts and always available, even cooked the fish we bought from the fisherman stand in Placencia. Kids loved the dogs and cats. Placencia is full of good restaurants, the daily boat trip to the village makes the day enjoyable, did a few trips - Silk Caye, Mayan World of adventures. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Awesome visit
Tom has a beautiful house and is exactly as described! It is only about 5 minutes or so from Placencia which is so fun to visit. Fantastic food, cute little shops, very friendly locals to visit with. Caretaker Edwin is very prompt and the best. We had a great time while there. Beautiful views from any place in the house. Has everything that you need to live there. All you need is a bathing suit and your all set :)

The pictures do not truly show how cool the house is! Perfect location! Edwin our caretaker of the house was always available for anything we would need! Boat ride into town, tour recommendations and even cooked the fish we had caught the day before? Perfect!

Hummingbird House Getaway
Perfect for us! Hummingbird is off the mainland, so a bit more private but still very convenient given the availability of Edwin to take you to wherever/whenever. Loved the house itself. Had everything we needed for a comfortable/relaxing stay. Very comfortable both inside and out. The dock and the deck were our favorite places to hang. Swimming off the dock was the best. Enjoyed the kayaks and the sup board. Hated to leave!

Spacious and peaceful home on the water
We had a very relaxing week in Placencia at the house. Tons of room to relax, lots of seating and sofas to lounge around in, and a very large outdoor terrace to watch over the bay. Edwin was friendly and responsive (pro tip: tap into his local network for excursions) and despite being on an island, it really was no trouble to go to/from the town. [The wifi isn't very fast (I measured 5-6 Mbps downstream) though the cell service is good. But then, you don't go to Placencia to stare at screens, right?]

My family absolutely loved this property. The kids first thing upon arriving was to video the whole house and brag about how cool it was. We enjoyed our time at Hummingbird house so much. The breezes thru the house made the stay breathtaking. Especially since we have been used to ac and the house didnt have it. But it didnt matter because the breeze was perfect.

What a gem! Amazing everything!
We traveled for 7 weeks starting from Cancun and followed the coast line down to Placencia. Found this gem for our last week. 3 couples recently retired shared this amazing home (we all worked together for 25 years and retired together). We’ve been busy for the previous weeks so this was our relax and enjoy time. Being on this island was a retreat. Plenty to keep us busy with the swimming, kayaks and paddle boards. Just hangin out on the dock in the hammock was legit. The caretaker Edwin and family were amazing!! Always there to get you to the mainland anytime. Open spaces and lots of room for each of us to have our own space or to gather together. We made several dinners there and watched the sunsets every night. Always had a shaded area when needed and we all really enjoyed this home. Lots to do on the mainland too. Whatever you are into they seem to have. Night life wasn’t our thing but during the day, we visited many local restaurants and bars to take in to local vibe. The people there are very friendly and worth having conversations with.

Absolutely Wonderful Vacation!
This was our first time to Belize. We feel so lucky to have chosen Placencia, and more specifically, the Hummingbird House, as our destination. The house is amazing and as amazing as described. So relaxing and beautiful! The caretaker (Edwin) and his family made this an even more amazing experience for us! He is kind, responsive, positive, knowledgeable, and went beyond the call of duty to make this a great experience for all. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about them, the Hummingbird House, and the activities Edwin recommended!

Best House in Placencia
The hummingbird house is amazing. We loved being across the channel, and the caretaker was fantastic - always able to shuttle us across when ever we wanted and help with booking tours. The house itself is amazing, with water views on 3 sides, cool breeze flowing through the rooms and common area, and our own private dock, from which we snorkled and saw moray eels, rays, seahorse, puffer fish and other tropical fish. We could swim or paddleboard or kyak to the yacht club or to Placencia beach, or some great reefs on otherside of island. We arranged 2 great tours with Rudy Vellos (spearfish/snorkling and monkey river) but otherwise enjoyed the house and Placencia. Some odd comments exist about showers - both were great, and we loved the outdoor shower. Beds comfy with fans in room and mosquito netting, but bugs were only bad at dawn and dusk, and not bothersome if we sprayed picarin on our bods. Just amazing, pictures do not do this house justice: the caretaker and owner were incredibly responsive. Best were the amazing sunsets from porch or doc everyday. We'll be back

Beautiful view and spacious house
We loved our stay at Hummingbird House and the verandas to the front and back allowed for very different but interesting vistas. We enjoyed using the kayaks and saw dolphins and a manatee. Edwin was super helpful and without the boat access to from Placencia to pick up water, groceries and get back to the vehicle for outings, it would not be doable. But Edwin was always ready. Thanks a million Edwin!

Beautiful House, but AC in at least the bedrooms would be a plus. It was very hot and humid during our stay. Only other negative was a lot of barking dogs on the island. On the other hand, Edwin, the caretaker, and his family were wonderful and very accommodating! Could not have had a better host!

The house keeper (Edwin and family) was amazing and was always there to help as needed and to get us to the village at any time. It’s a must experience. Beautiful home!! Nothing like it in the Stan creek district.

Beautiful home, beautiful town. Would have enjoyed air conditioning at night.
No TV or air. Forced to relax. May just be Gods way of saying slow down. People were extremely friendly. Donated to multiple charities. Restaurant and bars excellent. Swam each day water beautiful.
