A picture-perfect villa set in the bucolic landscapes of the Lot-et-Garonne, Manoir Campagnard exudes historic character with its beautiful interiors and striking pigeonnier. Yet its contemporary charms will entice you as you kick back in the elegant living spaces and rest across its spacious en suite bedrooms.
This 18th century manoir has undergone a remarkable restoration since its owners fell in love with the house and gardens in 2019. As keen food lovers themselves, they have created the most stunning kitchen with high-end appliances whilst the French oak table in the stylish dining room, set by the woodburning fire, is the perfect place for regional feasts with family and friends. Wine-lovers have their own private cellar for tastings by candlelight – allow the owners to help you arrange a custom-made wine-tasting experience sampling the best vintages of this magnificent region.
The wood-beamed lounge upstairs has been designed with convivial evenings in mind whilst on the lower floor a children’s lounge, which doubles up as a quad en suite bedroom, features a Smart TV to watch whilst lazing on the huge sofa. The six main doubles are all sumptuous in style, dotted across the main and upper levels, featuring king-size beds, high quality linen and en suite shower rooms with hairdryers and toiletries.
Stepping outside, the courtyard is simply idyllic with its generous dining areas, al-fresco lounge and firepit or you may prefer to set up meals on the breakfast terrace overlooking the peaceful gardens and trees. Soak up the tranquil ambience as you play pétanque or table tennis, then dip into the salt-water heated swimming pool with gorgeous countryside views and the summer aroma of lavender.
Set in a little hamlet surrounded by rural farmland where sunflowers and golden wheat often grow, this is French country living at its best, located in one of the most authentic regions of south-western France. Potter to the local market in the delightful town of Cancon, known for its production of hazelnuts, or head south for yet more traditional markets as well as adventures on the Lot River near Castelmoron and Villeneuve-sur-Lot. In the summer months there are ample opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and other water-based activities along the river or nearby lakes.
Visit some of France’s most characterful villages including Monflanquin, Issigeac and Monpazier, sample prunes steeped in Armagnac in historic Agen and venture to the scenic vineyards around the enchanting hilltop town of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Bergerac is another fine day out, on the banks of the Dordogne with impressive architecture, excellent wines and superb restaurants. Explore its medieval quarter, take a boat trip along the river and visit some of the town’s nearby vineyards and wineries such as the wonderful Château de Monbazillac.

Location:
Manoir Campagnard is in a beautiful location in the Lot-et-Garonne department of Aquitaine, south-western France. In a little hamlet surrounded by rural farmland, you may be fortunate enough to admire summer sunflowers or golden wheat in the neighbouring fields.
Every morning you will be able to find an atmospheric market in a nearby village or town selling some of the most delicious regional produce. Start off in the small town of Cancon (9km), home of the Cancon hazelnut, with its historic houses, charming hilly lanes and magnificent panoramas - the weekly market takes place on a Monday morning.
To the south, Villeneuve-sur-Lot (20km) is another picturesque spot on the banks of the Lot River, dating back to the 13th century and hosts a fantastic twice-weekly market. Look out for the marché gourmand on Friday evenings in July and August alongside other summer festivities and events. Heading south-west, there are plenty of water-based activities in Castelmoron-sur-Lot (16km) such as canoeing, kayaking and supervised summer swimming or simply soak up the ambience of the village’s Wednesday morning market.
This region is wonderful for walkers with many trails through the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and beyond, including a challenging but stunning hike between Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the picture-perfect village of Pujols (22km). As well as cycling, horse-riding and other outdoor adventures, enjoy spending time at Lac de Lougratte (14km) lake swimming and summer watersports.
Other much-loved villages dotted across the landscapes include the bastide town of Monflanquin (22km) and Dordogne’s idyllic Issigeac (32km), both classified as two of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Then there’s Duras (43km) in the scenic Dropt valley, close to the Gironde border, and gorgeous Monpazier (42km) with its perfectly preserved medieval centre.
Try prunes steeped in Armagnac in the handsome town of Agen (42km), venture further to the award-winning vineyards of Saint-Émilion (87km), a UNESCO World Heritage site, or make the most of a day out in Bergerac (52km) with its historic architecture and beautiful setting on the Dordogne River.
