"The Emerald is a beautiful, homey place and I enjoy stopping there on my frequent trips. It's affordable, and simple (no extra accessories), but I am good with that. Always very clean. They are very convenient coming from the airport on the hourly shuttle service. Being a single lady traveling alone, I would appreciate it if the door were a little stronger (no loose door knob, a sturdier lock, etc.) just for securit's sake, but otherwise I am happy with the property and services. Thank you...

"Incredibly welcoming staff. They make you feel taken care of. I had a massage while I was here and she was absolutely amazing! It is a very neat little place huddles away! Lots of interesting taxidermy of african animals in the dining area. Would stay here again "

"The place is not clean,has a bad smell and is noisy. We were told that we'll have to move to another smaller room oh Saturday. We decided to check out on Saturday even though we booked for two nights. There's big cockroaches too"

"A great place to stay near the airport if you're connecting to another flight the next day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area and your desired needs. The breakfast was wonderful and was prepared with care. Thank you and will stay here again and recommend the hotel. The grounds are also fantastic and pleasant to the eyes. "

"Overnight stay before safari - we arrived in the dark after a flight delay and had to leave early so unable to enjoy most of the facilities - but the room was clean, great facilities, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff (the receptionist even walked me to the nearest restaurant). Great breakfast. Situated just inside gated estate with high security. Only comment on room is the toilet is inside a frosted glass shower enclosure in the room."

"The Guesthouse is located in a special business zone of Sandton which is the economic powerhouse of SA. It therefore becomes easy for any business related trips to stay at the Guesthouse. However, management is supposed to provide facilities such as self-cooking services at affordable prices rather than sending guests to buy food from the mall which may be too expensive or the food will be cold. "I liked the friendly and helpful staff, nice furnishings in the apartments and adequately stocked with all the necessities for such accommodation! The bed was comfortable with very nice bed linen! Like the proximity to Sandton City and Mandela Sq! All in all I thought the Raphael was very good value for money! I did not like the view from my room.. faced the wall (but at least it wasn’t concrete and plain, but would have preferred a city view! "

"Very safe place to stay in Sandton. It's a short walk to the shops, Nelson Mandela square and good restaurants. The pool is tiny but still good in the heat. The coffee spot in reception was great. It's great for young people but not really designed for young families. "

Fabulous hotel

"Most convenient hotel at the airport. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food (at least Breakfast) was good, fresh, and hot. Have stayed before and will stay again. Note that one of our bags was delayed (International flight) for 5 hours. It was perfect to stay across from baggage services. "

Amazing place with beautiful people.

"The staff is the heart of the hotel. Each one of them were amazing. To name a few, Zama, Miriam, Ivy, xolani, Jimmy, the two Thomas, Justice, Zoe, Kenny, and the rest became like family to me. The staff at Perere, at the Club House and at the Cafeteria made me feel special. The housekeeping personnel was also exceptional. I felt comfortable leaving my personal items out when they were cleaning. They didn't steal anything. The hotel has almost everything to make your enjoyable in every aspect. It has a business center, Barber shop, a grocery store and much more. The only issue I have with the hotel owners and management are the low wages they pay their staff. For such a high standard hotel and highly qualified staff that give exceptional services, the wage is not at par with the quality of services offered."

"Great facility, friendly staff and delicious food. We were able to catch the hop on hop off bus just around the corner and access lots of sights that way. The hotel offers a shuttle service to Nelson Mandela Square, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommended this stay. "
