Difficult host
The host informed us only three days before our arrival that we had to pay a 100€ cash cleaning fee and a 500€ cash deposit upon arrival, that was not included or mentioned anywhere in the booking. Vrbo assured us several times that we are not obliged to pay and that all costs have to be included in the booking and cash payments are not recommended. Given the false information on our booking we offered the host to cancel our stay two days before we were supposed to arrive, which they declined. Eventually they cancelled our booking on the day we were supposed to arrive, claiming it on some water damage. This caused us considerable amount of anxiety and we had to find somewhere new to stay for the same day with our small children. Additionally, it is not possible to book something through Vrbo for the same day making it extra difficult. The days before our holidays were also full of stressful conversations with Vrbo and the host, which didn't really put us in holiday mood either. Fortunately, we found a super amazing new place to stay and had a wonderful holiday despite the difficult start.
