"You enter the property though an out-house at the end of a path. There’s no working outside light so, if you arrive late or like to go out on an evening take a torch. When we arrived, the bins were overflowing, and bags of rubbish had been piled up along the path. The outside area doesn’t get cleaned or maintained so, if you like al fresco dining you need a stiff brush and bucket of soapy water to clean away all the rotting fruit, leaves and debris. "We informed Host and Stay the day we arrived the toilet down stairs was not working. We called them each day we were there to get resolution. They came to look at the toilet the next day in the afternoon and yet they did not fix the toilet. They made no attempt the remaining 2 days we were there. When we left 2 days later, the toilet had not been fixed. Host and Stay has been non-responsive as to offering us a refund."

"The lodge was perfect. Spotlessly clean and pretty and everything you could need. However what made our holiday absolutely perfect was the garden the lodge is set in. Stunningly beautiful, magical grounds that you could see from all sides of the lodge. With a folly perfect for an outdoor fire and BBQ. Central to all of the North East and Durham attractions. I have been twice now and can’t wait to go again. Magical!"

"All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too. Cottage was nice a little place although i think the tv was slightly too high on wall. As we arrived there were 3 plumbing vans parked outside so had to park out side another cottage for bout hour n half till they moved their vans after going in pub at front of cottages before parking own car then outside our own cottage.
