The staff were all very friendly and helpful. However, the room was not upto par in as much as it was dusty, I don’t think the fan, the press machine or mirrors and pictures had been done for yonks! Not really good if you have allergies (I don’t luckily)
Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. It’s just a pity good cleaners are hard to come by.
Lovely hotel - room not noisy despite being on the road side of the hotel. Staff were lovely (as was the hotel cat) and the food was great (and large). Highly recommended.
Large free car park, easy check in and shown to room. It was disappointing that the room was not in the main building but in a converted cottage which was accessed through a nice courtyard and up narrow stairs. The room and bathroom were small but clean and very warm as the heating was one. My suggestions for improvement would be to look at the curtains which needed attention to reduce light let in at night time. Also better pillows as this spoilt my sleep quality, plus as an added extra some conditioner to go with the shampoo and body wash. The bar area was very comfortable and the barman was very helpful. We ate an evening meal in the bar and the potion size was excellent and very tasty. The night we stayed was the football final and staff had set up a room special for people to watch the match. Breakfast was lovely and served on request-good choice and hot. Service again was excellent. To finish off Alans customer was excellent and he was happy and helpful throughout our stay- a real credit to the hotel. The garden was well maintained and had plenty of seating options and would be a lovely place to relax on a good day.
Really great second stay, view of the church, two great breakfasts and a lovely evening meal, great place to stay for NYMR and Castle Howard, best asset are the staff
A lovely hotel in a lovely location. Very pretty little town. The hotel has maintained all it's features and although we weren't able to sit outside due to the weather, the grounds looked very nice too. Only thing I would change is the bathroom. Felt quite stark and could be made more luxurious and in keeping with the rest of the hotel for minimal cost. Parking very good. Evening meal was lovely and the staff were lovely and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Forest and Vale hotel. Yes it is old fashioned and a bit dated but it was beautifully clean and our room was very comfortable, with a good quality bed. We ate in the hotel and the food was very good , well presented and plenty of options. The staff were all friendly and approachable.we had a really quiet room overlooking the garden. Although the clientele were all ollder than us , this was wasn’t a problem and I would definitely stay here again.
