Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Forge View Cottage.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Forge View Cottage. Great location both within the village and for access to coastal and inland resorts / places of interest. Our only concerns were that our small dog (a Chihuahua) could and did escape underneath the gate and that from the description we expected an enclosed garden. There was no enclosed garden but there is a small and enclosed seating area. We were surprised to be informed by a sign on our arrival that dogs were not allowed upstairs - not our expectations of a dog friendly cottage. Not a lot of freezer space. The traffic and pedestrian flow at the front of the property was quite busy (we were there in peak season) which made our dogs bark. But I guess this is the price you pay to be right in the centre of things and within crawling distance of two great pubs and a to die for bakery. A beautiful location and overall a great property.

Thornton le Dale is a great place to stay.
Thornton le Dale is a great place to stay. Pubs, bakery, deli, chippy, tea rooms and a gift shop to name but a few. Great walks around the village too. Forge view is a good place to stay. Its clean and has everything you need in a holiday cottage. Perhaps a little dated, but I would certainly stay here again. Recommended

Forge view is a lovely place to stay it is spotlessly clean and very well equipped.
Forge view is a lovely place to stay it is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The location is great being in the centre of the village with two dog friendly pubs on the doorstep. It is ideally suited for touring the area within easy reach of Whitby,Filey,Scarborough, the Dales and moors. We enjoyed our week which was only let down by the awful weather!! We would love to stay again when it's sunny and warm as we weren't able to do any of the lovely walks in the area. Thanks to the owners for the lovely welcome pack and the flowers.

Three of us recently spent a pleasant and comfortable week at Forge View Cottage.
Three of us recently spent a pleasant and comfortable week at Forge View Cottage. The fixtures and fittings are top quality and the rooms spacious. We didn't want for anything and can reccomend it to others. The owner went out of his way to return an item that we had left behind. We have stayed in many self catering properties but Forge View Cottage is now top of the list.

We loved Forge View cottage and the Village of Thornton-le-Dale is beautiful.
We loved Forge View cottage and the Village of Thornton-le-Dale is beautiful. As soon as we walked in the cottage we knew it was exactly what we had been looking forward to. The kids were so excited and so was our dog! The kitchen had everything we needed, but with the food at The New Inn, especially the dressed crab, and the homemade pies at The Buck... we only cooked one night and cooked breakfasts. Pizza takeaway is amazing too, and the fish and chips in chip shop fab. Good job there is a lovely pond to walk all the food off! Our bed in the large bedroom was soooo comfy I could have stayed in it all week. We went to Whitby, Scarborough, Eden Camp (brilliant) and Staithes as we went on holiday there last year. Having a February heatwave just added to a great week. Our 5 year old Son cried when we had to leave and we had to promise we will come back, and we will.
