Today, the area is a tourist destination for those looking for quieter private accommodation. The tourist centers and major cities are nevertheless nearby if you want to explore them. A 15-minute drive in one direction separates you from Pazin, while Labin and Rabac are the same distance in the other direction. Due to its central location on the peninsula, Pazin has historically always been an important center and is today the administrative center of Istria. The town was built around the 10th century Pazin Castle, the largest and best-preserved Istrian fortress.
