"Casteil is a great base for daywalks in the Canigou region. The apartment is well equipped with a good shower, comfortable chairs and bed, and some outside seating in a communal area. Oh, and even some good restaurants in this smalvillage!"

"Our extended family group (2 families + grandparent+visiting friends) had a fabulous stay at Martin's holiday home. The children in our group loved the pool and spent hours in it, while the adults especially enjoyed breakfasts and dinners in the beautiful garden, all accompanied by the sound of fresh running water from the mountains. The many bedrooms are lovely and comfortable, the kitchen is large and a joy to cook in, and, again, the garden is idyllic. Martin himself is a fantastic host, kind and thoughtful, and he went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. (He even pleasantly tolerated the children advising him to install a water park in the yard, an arcade in the house, etc. The adults did not agree with this advice.) The area has many attractions, including hikes, markets, beautiful nearby towns, vineyards, waterfalls, and more. A day trip to Collioures to swim in the Mediterranean was easy and fun, too. We did so many things in our two weeks, and Martin's historic hotel was the perfect home for us while we did them. We all highly recommend staying here and would ourselves love to do so again. "We arrived on Ascencion day from the little yellow train to no bus or taxi from Villefranc to the hotel - locals gathered together at the station to take us to the hotel in a private car - refused to accept any payment. Next day we needed to do washing, again let down by taxi's to get to laundry (at the local supermarket and a local again gave us a lift but let down again by taxi's to return (not far enough). The dryer did not work so back to hotel with damp washing. Immediately hotel stepped in to dry our damp washing and then insisted upon taking us to Villafranc and a return at 5.00pm - would not accept any payments. All-round went beyond normal to hewlp and make our stay a delight."
