This four-bedroom house sits high above the New Meadows River, with strong wi-fi throughout. Relax on the large decks with an expansive view of this wide, salt-water, tidal river and enjoy the eagles flying overhead. Ducks, herons, cormorants, osprey, and eagle swim in or fly above the river, sailboats zip along, and lobster boats pass back and forth, trailed by sea-gulls. If you're lucky you might even see a seal pop its head up as it swims along. Glimpses of the Basin can also be seen from the side deck. Play frisbee or badminton on the front lawn, wander down the path through pine trees and blueberry bushes to the water, picking blueberries and raspberries along the way (in season). Enjoy the view from the rocky coast or walk down the dirt road to a communal cove with easy wading and swimming access. We have a double sit-on-top kayak and two single sit-on-top kayaks available for you to take out to explore the river with the osprey and seals. The combination of lawn, woods, path, and rocky coast make the property a children's wonderland. The house has a beautiful dining/living room space. The dining room is perfect for large family dinners, with seating for up to 8 at the dining room table. The living room has two comfortable couches, a flat-screened television, and a working fireplace. The well-stocked kitchen is comfortable, with ample counter space, dishwasher, and microwave. Our family has spent many years cooking sea-food feasts and baked deserts, and so the kitchen is stocked with a good selection of cooking utensils for these items, including a large pot suitable for lobsters or steaming clams. The first floor has a gorgeous, airy master bedroom that is down a long hall from the rest of the house, offering privacy and separation from the goings-on in the living room/dining area. The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, wooden beams, and an office area that overlooks the New Meadows River, as well as its own doors out to a small patio that is ringed with wildflowers and has views of the river. The first-floor bathroom has a tub/shower with a sky-light above it, so that you can shower with views of pine trees and sky. The toilet and sink are separated from the shower area with a sliding door, so that it is possible for a person to take a shower without blocking bathroom access. The second floor of the house is quaint and rustic, with wood paneling throughout. There are three bedrooms on the second floor (two with water views). The largest second-floor bedroom has a King sized bed and windows on two sides, including a river view. There is a 2nd second-floor bedroom with two twin beds and a view of the river, and a 3rd second-floor bedroom with two twin beds and a small nook with children's play items. While this 3rd bedroom does not overlook the river, its windows offer lovely views of the Maine woods. The second-floor bathroom has a toilet, sink, and shower, but no tub. Throughout, the house is full of rustic charm. The house sits along a dirt road just past the paved section, making it both secluded and with easy access to the surrounding area, including the towns of Bath and Brunswick (both of which offer shopping and many restaurant options, both inexpensive and upscale), and the beautiful state parks Popham Beach and Reid State Park. Freeport and its outlet shopping, Portland with its fine dining and museums, and the art galleries of Wiscasset are all within an hour drive. You can spend the day exploring and come home to enjoy a gorgeous sunset from the west-facing deck or the dining area's large windows. The house has a washer and dryer, wireless Internet access, one flat-screened TV and cable, and is well stocked with games. There is a small selection of family-friendly DVDs and a DVD player, and an old record player with the family's record collection of jazz, classical, classic rock, and musical cast albums that you are welcome to enjoy.
