This wonderful woodland cottage sits secluded on acres of ancient rhododendron, laurel, and majestic trees. The Stoney Brook Cottage is VRBO's largest rental on a stream in Brevard.

The 1960's cottage sits next to a brisk stream that tumbles down the mountainside where it has cut its path for centuries. View the mountain fauna along the stream from the covered deck as you picnic in the forest canopy. You can also retreat to the screened porch out back to sip coffee as the song birds enjoy the first rays of sunshine. Cottage does have stairs and is not recommended for the elderly.

The Stoney Brook Cottage is located only six miles from DuPont State Forest with it's incredible waterfalls and over 80 miles of hiking and mountain bike trails and also only six miles from the Pisgah National Forest where you will find the Davidson River which boast more trophy trout per mile than any other stream in the country as well as tubing and Sliding Rock!

Oh yes, the cottage has WiFi high speed internet. There is also a hot tub overlooking the stream, a gas fireplace, a game room with foosball, darts, board games, and cable TV in the living room and in the family room. Over 1600 square feet of heated living space provides you with a king bedroom with walk-in closet and another queen bedroom, two full baths, living room, fully-equipped kitchen, large game room with TV, couch, loveseat & rollaway bed, and full laundry.

When the day is through and you have hiked the National Forests and its waterfalls, you can retreat to your private cottage and still be in the middle of nature's beauty. It is everything you are looking for... Entrance to the cottage is on the lower level which has a bedroom, full bath, family room, laundry room and covered deck with the hot tub. Upstairs is the Living Room, master bedroom, another full bath, kitchen, covered deck and a screened porch. We're sure you will enjoy this cottage for generations to come!

We only stayed one night, which we were glad they could accommodate. Super cute place and clean. Phantom, my dog, liked running up the mountain behind the house to the clearing. Quiet neighborhood.

The cabin was as expected- rustic and cozy. We loved the hot tub and the brand new oven was great. The beds could use an upgrade and the outdoor furniture needs new cushion. The air/heat were easy to set - we had spring-like gorgeous weather so we had to use both.

We loved our stay at this property! The house was even better than the pictures. So quaint and cozy, so welcoming. The view off the porch was the best spot to bird watch and relax. It was a perfect location for all our hiking and mountain biking needs, short distance to downtown Hendersonville and Brevard for shopping. The kitchen was stocked with all the essentials, and the hot tub was perfect after a long day in the trails. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed the property and the location. More consistent heating downstairs would be an improvement. The oven on the range doesn’t work; we used the vintage wall oven. We did not use the hot tub, but definitely would have if we had one additional day.

Getaway.. quiet, close enough to everything . The creek.. amaZing to listen too! Pet friendly which was great! Would be helpful to know.. you come in at the basement level, so large dogs struggle with the steps and no “potty place “ onsite. You must walk them. So just be aware. Everything you need and wonderfully quiet!

One major problem unfortunately
Everything was absolutely amazing. Except! The hot tub was out of order and that was one of our personal requirements when searching for a place to stay. We were not notified before arriving. Everything else was perfect! Extremely well stocked. We needed absolutely nothing but clothes and food. The home was spotless and the property was well maintained.

Serene and Comfortable
My wife and I stayed here for an extended weekend trip for her birthday. It was a great location, 10-15 minutes from grocery stores, downtown and restaurants. We enjoyed a massage in Brevard, then got immediately in the hot tub, it was so relaxing. The hot tub was clean and a perfect way to end the evening. We enjoyed the patio for morning coffee, you really feel like you are in a tree house. The kitchen was well appointed and clean. I enjoyed the vanity room on the side of the master bedroom, it was perfect for getting ready for a night out. My only suggestion would be to add an outdoor flood light at the top of the driveway because it was very dark and hard to see, we were always on the lookout for bears! Other than that, the home was wonderful and we would definitely stay here again.

We ended up visiting the property during the Christmas cold snap. The house was just as promised. I grew up in PA and the house reminded me of some of the small homes there. My negative on the property. After booking and close to check in the owner did not leave instructions of how to get in. I called and emailed no response but was relieved to find the door open. I would of been mad if I had shown up and locked out. Also I seen an outside light over door but could not find the light switch, flash light in the drawer but didn't work. VERY dark to walk the dog.

Pros: loved sitting on the front porch enjoying nature with little humidity in Aug. Great AC system . Cons:A 1960’s house that needs serious upgrades & a deep cleaning. Musty smell , hair in the tub, a dead roach in the bedroom & a bunch of moldy grapes in a bowl in the cabinet. 3 lamps in the living area, none of which worked . Very dirty tables on the front porch. Not the same lovely furniture as shown in the porch picture. Babbling brook is almost non-existent unless you walk up the hillside to see more water….

Adequate for Exploring the Area
The place was easy to get to and conveniently located with easy access to nearby waterfalls and towns. It was chilly and rainy when we arrived, but our hosts had lit a warm and welcoming fire in the gas fireplace. Because of the weather, we didn't get to use the screened porch on the second floor, but it was very nice. Overall, the place had a neglected and rundown feel. The first floor was dank and dark, and we were glad we did not have to use it for anything beyond storing suitcases. The second floor was much pleasanter, but the bed was ancient, uncomfortable and noisy. There are two ovens in the kitchen, but neither one worked, which very much limited the cooking we could do. The ovens and sheet pans were also very dirty, so even if the ovens had worked, cooking was an unappetizing prospect. I would not stay there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
