Peaceful mountain retreat on Walker Creek

There is something about a clear mountain creek that brings back memories of simpler days and reminds us of the timeless joys that can be found in ordinary moments- wading barefoot into the cool water, skipping rocks, learning how to fly fish, tubing downstream on a sunny day, or swapping stories on the porch over a cup of coffee. Scenic Walker Creek, the largest tributary to the New River in Virginia, is a wide creek that winds through forests, pastures, and mountains on its journey to join the river.

Walker Creek Crossing offers all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable as well as the enduring charm of a country retreat. The spacious kitchen and dining room overlook the water and are designed for sharing meals with friends and family. Downstairs, the game room is a favorite gathering place. Walker Creek Crossing is a short drive from the Appalachian Trail, Cascade Falls, birding trails, and some prime spots for canoeing and kayaking. At just twenty-five minutes from Radford and Blacksburg, guests can enjoy a peaceful escape to the quiet countryside while still having all the convenience of nearby dining, shopping and activities.

Walker Creek Crossing is a great place to get together and return to the simple joys that turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Sleeps 9. Friendly, well-behaved pets will be considered for an additional fee.

Wonderful stay!
This is our second time here, and we loved it so much both times. Almost everything you need is provided including kayaks, a canoe, tubes, etc. The easy access to the water makes it so nice for the kids.

Great cottage and location!
Spent most of a long weekend playing in the creek with floats and kayaks. Kitchen has all the amenities. Cottage has a great flow for family activities. Loved our stay here...the grandkids didn't want to leave.

Awesome accommodations! Home is roomy, clean, and well equipped. Will stay here again!
I loved the fact that we were literally steps away from the creek (which is more like a river). The pictures online do not do this home justice! Kitchen was well equipped, and home was well suited for our needs.

Enjoyable and Scenic Option
This is a scenic location beside Walker Creek and in the heart of the Virginia mountains. The two floors allowed both families to have abundant space. We appreciated having no carpet; the house was ultra-clean.

Great Home
This home was very nice and fully equipped. Came for our daughter's graduation from Tech. Far from Blacksburg (full 40 minutes) but a nice alternative to the hotels. Beds are very comfortable and home is very spacious.

Wonderful Mountain home
There were 10 of us staying here... it was awesome. Great space, comfy sofa, wonderful beds. The kitchen is nicely stocked and has so much space to cook and prep meals. Kids enjoyed the pool table and pinball machine while parents cooked! The grounds were amazing, loved the kayak and the canoe. Definitely want to come back next year, hopefully for a longer weekend.

Well equipped and quiet setting
The house is well equipped for just about everything to do inside and out. The weather did not cooperate for us to enjoy the outside amenities except for the front porch as it rained all the days of our stay. It is a very quiet area with very little traffic. We plan on coming again to the area and want to stay here, and hopefully have better weather! We would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful stay!!
Spent Easter weekend with our daughter (who goes to VT), along with her siblings, great aunt, and our dog at this lovely property. It was so welcoming and homey and had everything we needed and more. Kitchen was well stocked, lots of movies for movie nights, many games and fun for the kids. Great location to go hiking (Cascade Falls is one) and fun places to eat (many where you can also take your pets). The local bakery, Sugar and Flour, had delicious coffee and treats and the owner gave us free cookies to enjoy on our travel home. Megan our host was so helpful and accommodating, offering a terrific list of places to visit and eat. Will be back so we can take advantage of the river right out back and fire up the fire pit for smores. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Clean and cozy house
We were two families with two teenage kids and we all had fun and enjoyed the house. It has everything you need for your stay. It is such a quiet place, away from the traffic and the noise in the big city. We loved the big dining table that seats 8 people. The are plenty of area attractions if you love nature. I would definitely recommend the house for your next stay.

Family Reunion
The place was perfect for us. Enough space for all 10 of us and for the extended family gathering that was had one evening. We especially enjoyed having the fire ring ready to go and the evening around the fire was perfect. We did leave it ready for the next group. All in all the place met all our needs and more. Thank you.

Welcome Relief from the Hustle & Bustle
This location offers a wonderful mountain escape in a clean, fun, and roomy home situated a few steps from your own lazy creek. Amongst other things, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and tubing during the day and pinball, billiards, and stargazing in the evening kept everyone happy. The property owner was very accommodating and quick to respond to any question. We hope to make the trip from Tidewater again soon.

Great place for Virginia Tech game
We took our boys (14 and 11) to the Homecoming game at Virginia Tech. We wanted a place that wasn't too far away from Blacksburg (about 40 mins), but offered a peaceful retreat. This house was perfect and very clean! My kids loved the pool table. They also enjoyed watching the cows across the creek. We hiked the Cascades Trail, and the trailhead is a short drive from the house. They want to come to another Virginia Tech game, and asked to stay here again!

Perfect getaway spot! Highly recommend this house.
We rented the house during for my son’s fall break from VT. The house was clean, lots of sleeping space, nice sized bathrooms and the kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the fire pit and walks in nature. The back deck looks right over the creek which was so relaxing. The house is in a quiet area, very little traffic or noise. Megan was great to work with. We went apple picking and to Mountain Lake, all an easy drive.

Our stay was amazing!
My family and I absolutely loved this place. We had 3 adults and 5 children and all of us stayed entertained! We played in the creek and kayaked every day. And every night the kids played pool and karaoke. Along with no close neighbors ( luckily lol) It was perfect. The house had everything you could need. Definitely recommend staying here! We also hiked cascade falls, rented a boat on clayton lake and even found a safari all within 45mins away.

Comfortable, Clean, Quiet
We are repeat renters and will undoubtedly return. The location is very quiet and peaceful – during our stay we saw an otter family, bald eagles and deer. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The living room has comfortable, plentiful seating. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and helpfully includes many spices, oils and other basics. Additional fun amenities include the pool table, large deck with plentiful seating and charcoal grill, river access, kayaks/floaties/folding chairs, fire pit, board games, and DVDs. It’s an easy, 40-minute drive to the VT campus. Entry code is convenient, no need to worry about a key. The host was very responsive. Some minor negatives are dirty floors in the basement (just need to be mopped), broken pinball machine, and no cell service (but wi-fi worked fine). Nothing that will stop us from returning – we will be back!
