The Conifers is a newly refurbished, small but beautifully designed, stylish flat in the middle of Par Duck Pond Nature Reserve. It is surrounded by beautiful woodlands and walks with a lovely Victorian garden, dining terrace and zero gravity sun loungers on the lawn. It has a small galley kitchen, a small double bedroom and nice sized modern shower room. It has its own entrance with a long and very large double private drive that can accommodate a bus and a secure, dry storage area with a hosepipe gun, for boards, bikes, muddy dogs etc.
We are 2.3 miles from the Eden Project, a 4 minute walk from Par train station (0.3 mile), 100m from the bus stop to Fowey/Truro and 1.1 miles from Par beach.
This luxury apartment has small kitchen/diner with dishwasher, 104 litre fridge with large 17 litre icebox, 20 litre microwave, convection oven and grill and a medium sized air fryer. There is also a plug in induction hob. It is well equipped with everything you need, including oil and spices, tea, coffee, butter, jams, honey, milk from my husband's dairy, etc.
The small double bedroom has an incredibly comfortable state-of-the-art the art hybrid bed (10/10 from every guest so far) which has springs overlaid with memory foam and a gel infused top layer which is both supportive underneath and yet soft on top. Even the velvety carpet has memory foam underlay.
There is a desk in the bedroom with a book swap and an HDTV with all terrestrial programmes available to stream through Freeview Play or live channels through the channel apps. In addition we have Disney +, Amazon and Netflix. Our Wi-Fi is free, works well and averages ls 35.5 Mb/s.
The newly refurbished bathroom has an overhead shower ( plus hand held head) which is truly heavenly and you won't want to get out.
There is a utility room in a porch just outside the flat entrance. There is a fee of £5 for a quick wash and dry or £9 for a 4 1/2 hr hot cycle or I leave it up to you if it's somewhere in between. Anything that can't go in the dryer can go on our washing line which has a roof. There is an iron and ironing mat in the room and a large board in the utility room.
Guests enter through their own private gate (60cm wide), and the sensor lit flat path to the apartment door is covered by a picturesque bridge and long glass porch, bordered with flowers.
Our garden is a real slice of paradise, consisting of several large terraces on which you can dine, chillout on loungers or play basketball, Swingball and football (2 goals) if you feel energetic. You are also welcome to borrow balls and bodyboards, lilos, bucket and spades etc to take to the beach. It is very quiet in the evenings and you can hear owls and local wildlife enjoying the protection of the Reserve.
Alongside the house is a beautiful River Walk in Par Marshes that leads to Treesmill. Dogs and children love to play in the ancient shallow river ( that used to transport gin to Par harbour) which usually has a swing hanging from a tree. It is very Swallows and Amazons. See photos.
Opposite the apartment is Par Duck Pond Nature Reserve, full of swans, geese and ducks which are very friendly. Past the pond, there is a small woods and a large Bunnyfield which connects to the beach side of the village. Par is a very green village with lots of rivers and canals leading through it and out to the sea. See photos.
A 10 minute drive takes you to Fowey or Charlestown Harbour where TV and film crews shoot regularly.
Connections to the Eden Project aren't great, so I am offering a free lift, there and back, up until 9pm for anyone with or without a car. For late performances, there are several local taxi firms and private hire companies. Taxis cost £10-15.
We are a convenient location if you are walking the SW coastal path. Par Beach has a hire shop in summer and Polkerris around the headland has a watersports training centre and hire shop ( and a lovely pub). The North coast, with many surfer beaches, is 20 minutes away by car. The south coast, where we are in Par, is better for beaching, swimming, windsurfing and kite surfing.
There are several local pubs within a 10 min walk.
There are also many take away establishments locally, including 2 kebab houses, 4 fish and chips shops , several Chinese restaurants and an Indian. Many of them deliver. There is a PL24 map with walks etc which you can download online or take from here.
Although we are on the main road and easy to find, there is hardly any traffic after 6pm. The flat is behind the property and very quiet.
We will be in the family house at the front of the property to show you to your apartment. If you need to speak to us, you can knock on our door, text or phone.
You don't have to interact with us. We are happy to put the side gate on a combination lock and let you check in alone.
