The main impression I had of Tarongers which is not conveyed by the photo’s I had seen, was SPACE. This is a big house ! Our party which should have been a group of eight people had been whittled down to three, my recently widowed Mum, my son, and myself. We felt that there would have been plenty of room for eight people in the house but for three it was luxuriously spacious !
Mum, who is prone to wander the house in the middle of the night, was able to have the ground floor en-suite double room and move between bedroom and kitchen as she pleased without disturbing anyone, while my son and I each occupied one end of the first floor, with the shared bathroom providing a noise buffer between our rooms.
The two twin rooms are far less cramped than they appear in the photo’s, with one having access to it’s own outside area and the spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace. The double room which I occupied, with it’s own spacious South facing balcony was very comfortable. The bathrooms are extremely well equipped and sensibly planned. The kitchen is modern, clean and functional, very easy to use and well equipped.
The house is situated in a very quiet peaceful street, with an attractive area of grassed and tree’d parkland opposite the entrance. Although away from the centre of Calella, there is a bar/restaurant just around the corner and everything else is within easy walking distance. The bikes provided were a real bonus for getting around without the car.
The garage under the house was also a bonus for parking my trailor !
The owner of the house, who lives next door, was very friendly and helpful, without being obtrusive. Nothing was too much trouble, including me actually asking to borrow a cup of sugar ! I was also impressed with the speed that our security deposit was returned to my bank account without deductions, despite a couple of breakages.
Standards of maintenance, equipment, comfort, and cleanliness are excellent.
Casa Tarongers was an excellent alternative to staying in a hotel as we have done in the past, giving us the freedom to eat what, when, and where we liked, giving us lots of space to spread out and spend time together in a relaxed environment. As far as I can see it is one of very few houses available to rent in Calella. I feel very lucky to have found it, and at such good value. We will certainly be back and will probably become regular guests, hopefully along with the rest of the family in future !
