We are 20 miles from Wolf Creek and a 5min drive to downtown Pagosa Springs. Find yourself with San Juan River access and a stocked fishing pond, plus we're called Sunset Ranch for a reason! Tall pines and the San Juan River allow you to feel your miles away with only being a 5min drive to downtown Pagosa Springs and the hot springs. There are three cabins on the property, each one giving you your own space, fire pit, and outdoor mountain escape.

Relax and feel at home in this fully furnished modern cabin. Cabins include T.V, WIFI amenities all while being surrounded by 120 acres, including beautiful views of the San Juan River.

Terrific place to stay
It’s a beautiful property close to town and in a spectacular setting. The cabin was very clean and had plenty of room for moving around. We also very much enjoyed getting to know the owners dog, Richie. We definitely want to return.

Beautiful but not for us
Cabin was neat and clean. Property was beautiful but both cabin and property were not as we expected. We were expecting the river to be close by and the lake to be accessible. The river is a long walk behind barns down a rutted path. We never found the correct path even after two tries and asking for directions. But it wouldn’t have mattered. We had hoped to paddle boat but it was in the barn for repairs. Sitting alongside a river was a big reason we rented the cabin. That was a huge disappointment. A window in the cabin was broken and note said not to open. We were not able to get any television. And a small complaint is that there was no facial tissue. The property manager was very nice. So were the owners. And especially so Ritchie and Otis the resident dogs. It’s beautiful but really meant as a cabin for fishermen. Not as a getaway for an older couple looking to chill by a river.

My family loved it here! We fished the river each afternoon and the pond in the evening. We caught lots of big bass in the pond. Ritchie the dog was our favorite part. Ritchie showed us all around the property. The cabin had everything we needed for our long weekend.

Beatiful Cabin and Surroundings
Rock Cabin was a quiet and peaceful place to stay. It was spacious for the 2 of us, with lots of windows to enjoy the views. We enjoyed our walks down to the river and lake. Redwing blackbird fledgings were on the ground, and three geese pairs had goslings on the lake. The only downside was, because of our schedule being away most of the day at a family reunion, we weren't able to connect with the hosts to pay our pet fee via credit card. I thought we'd have the cash to pay, but it turned out we were short of cash after paying some other costs. The directions state to pay the pet fee via credit card upon arrival, but I never did figure out where or how to pay this fee, although I left messages as to when we'd be at the cabin. I told people on the grounds we'd be leaving early on our day out. We left most of our remaining cash on the table (we weren't able to use debit cards to get cash at the store). This is why I give this location 4 instead of 5 stars. It would also be helpful, if possible, to have reflector lights indicating where the driveway turn is. If you are returning from Pagosa Springs at night like we were, it's really dark on the road at twilight/night. We found the driveway by locating the bright yellow spotlight on the barn. Otherwise, this was a wonderful stay and we were able to recommend it to family members who had been looking for, but couldn't find, a (safe)place to bring their dogs to Pagosa Springs.

Loved our Rock House cabin! We were greeted by Richie and the cats. The cabin was so open and airy with windows all around. The only complaint was there were a few spiders in the bathroom, but all in all, it was a sweet place to stay! We didn't get to meet the ranch owners since we were on the go, but from reviews, they read as great people. Enjoyed watching the horses, geese, and cattle in the field.

Great cabin and views!!
Cozy cabin with amazing views the property is gorgeous, we had a wonderful relaxing vacation! Enjoyed fishing in the pond and exploring the river, our Auzzie played with Richie he even showed us around the property. Otis does come out barking but he is very friendly, he is a working dog just doing his job. The hosts were very gracious, we hope to be back sometime!

Perfect location
The Rock House was perfect for me and my husband. It was close to town, hiking and fishing. It was super convenient having the river so close. The cabin had everything we needed. The puppies were great with our puppy. This was one of our favorite spots.

the property was great for location and we had our two dogs so it worked out fine. no one greated us or asked if we needed info. Could not get tv to work first night. No access to river that we could see. Owners dog was sweet but always staring in our door. Add said you can fish the pond but it was all fenced in.

Beautiful Place - Great Hosts!
The cabin is clean and quaint, on beautiful property. The sunsets are spectacular, the river is within walking distance, and the owners/hosts are tremendously helpful and kind. The location is great too - you get to be in the country with only a 5 minute drive into town.

Great location, poor communication, and low hospitality.
The location is amazing. The rock house was a comfortable stay. BUT! What lacked was the communication and clarity. We discussed bringing our dogs before arriving but yet we were not told that the dogs couldn't be left alone in the cabin until after we left and came back. Then insisted on rudely telling our wives that it was in the listing and email that it wasn't allowed. We looked over all emails and listing info and there was nothing regarding that. We would've changed our plans but instead we were stuck apologizing for something we didn't know. Also they decided to put the sprinklers on constantly out front of our cabin. There was a time when i had my suv trunk open and they moved the sprinkler and it was spraying in my car. I understand they have weddings on site and need to upkeep but watering your grass can wait till guests are gone or sleeping. Two of our friends arrived late the first day and arrived in the top entrance and accidently drove over the grass (11pm at night) They also yelled at us for going in the wrong entrance at night and driving on the grass. The grass thing we deeply apologized for but coming in a different entrance and accusing us that GPS doesn't work up here was like come on? Don't have 2 entrances open if you didn't want people using it. Again the location and property are awesome. But the respect and information provided was minimal. Also don't bring your dogs here if you plan on living your life and going out to get food and drinks.

We just loved the Sunset Ranch and The Rock House! Richie is the best personal concierge ever, and he works for ear skitches and big belly rubs!! He waited on our porch for us each morning, to make sure we knew where to be. We loved that we could fish both their stocked lake or their private access points on the river, so many great spots! Both the ranch owners and hostess with the mostest, Amanda, went out of their way to make us feel like more than guests, we felt at home. I highly recommend their ranch if you find yourself near Pagosa. We would definitely stay there again!

Great little cabin on a magnificent ranch. The owners are super friendly and the ranch dog Richie is the best. 5 min from downtown, fishing, farm animals, comfortable accomodations, not much more to ask for. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay here was great, the cabin was very spacious and cozy, the grounds were well kept and we got to see a flock of wild turkeys each morning. The only thing I would recommend is bring your own cooking supplies if you plan on cooking, they were a bit limited in that area. Everything else was great.

Amazing stay
This cabin was just what we were looking for! It is clean, cute, has a comfortable King bed and a comfy futon for the teen, and they accepted our dog too who really liked the owners' dogs. Wild turkeys all around the beautiful property. It was decorated with Christmas lights and decorations making it a real winter wonderland. But I'd love to go back in the summer and hang by the pond and river, too! We'll be back!

Peaceful and adventurous getaway
The Rock House at Sunset Ranch was everything and more that my husband and I were looking for. This ranch offered the opportunity for our getaway to be anything we wanted it to be. We chose peace and quiet mixed with adventure. We spent our first entire day fishing, hiking, picnicking, and hanging out all right on the grounds of the ranch. Restaurants and shopping in town were a quick and easy drive away. As were every other outdoor adventure you could imagine. But the property itself is truly stunning. The San Juan River runs right through it. The owners (and the doggies) were absolutely welcoming and wonderful. We hope to return someday with our entire family. There wouldn't be a better place to stay in the Pagosa area. We will never forget the Sunset Ranch!
