Salty Dog is a clean, cozy, unpretentious, and dog-friendly beach house located just a block from the beach. Take a nice long walk and comb the sand for shells, or curl up with a good book in front of the fireplace after a day of ocean fun! Salty Dog offers generous space and easy access to the sand, shops, and all the fun that comes with being in the heart of town! There's cable TV service and free WiFi for stormy days indoors, as well as a spacious kitchen, newly renovated bathrooms, and two bedrooms with a queen bed apiece to provide a restful night's sleep.

You're only a five-minute walk from Pacific Beach State Park - the perfect spot for picnicking, camping, fishing, swimming, clam digging, and beachcombing. Two blocks west, you'll find stellar coffee at Surf House Café, while Paddie's Perch restaurant is just a few blocks north.

THINGS TO KNOW

Dogs are welcome for an additional fee (a leash law is in effect in town and on the beach).
This is an older home, with a bit of unevenness in the floor.
The wood is not provided for the wood-burning fireplace.
Seasonal clam digging is a regulated activity and requires a license issued from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
This vacation rental is not equipped with air-conditioning.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). Nice & quaint
Very nice small quiet town, great for a relaxing retreat. House was very clean, definitely older, needs a few minor upgrades but so worth the stay.

This place is a joke. Nothing like the pictures. Half of the house is sinking. You can feel the slope when you walk into the house.

Salty Dog was nice and clean once again. Good place to stay in "iffy weather"! You get what you pay for here, a clean, dry place after any weather the coastal beach can deliver. The local radio station, broadcast just a block away - (from the "Wacky Warehouse") sounds just is just like being at and experiencing the environment of Pacific Beach, WA! Thanks !

Salty Dog visit
The house was comfortable and very conveniently located close to the beach. The bathrooms were clean and modern. The only complaint was the lack of a non stick tub liner.The tub was very slick and could have used a grab bar as well. The kitchen had new looking appliances; the fridge was large and the the stove had double ovens. The bedrooms were comfortable, and lacked only screens on the windows. All in all we were pleased with the rental and would return.

Great Value for the Area
While the house is old, it is a very good value. The floors are not level, some window blinds need repair, but overall, it is a good price for a dog-friendly stay. The appliances are all newer and in good working order. The flooring and bathroom fixtures seem to be newer and the beds are comfortable. A great price for accepting some wear in an old house.

Great family getaway
This home was comfy and cozy. Huge TV Which was great for the rainy day. This home is older, but it was very clean. It had a lot of kitchen items for our use. The refrigerator was great washer and dryer worked well. There’s even a little sitting area outside in the back that is private. If you want to grill. I was surprised this was open perfect for family on a budget. This home is in the middle of town about two blocks from the beach half a block from a little grocery gas store right down the street from the RV park. there is a coffee bar a block away. Very convenient location. We were very happy that it was open for memorial day we will be coming back again. The local manager reached out to check on us, which was a nice touch. Made this stay more personal. There were even some nice homemade soaps in the bathroom. Couldn’t be happier.

Dog days
3 short blocks to the beach and hrs of fun for the dogs and humans. Out of the hustle and bustle of ocean shores. Dogs have towels waiting for them at the house (a pleasant surprise). The washer and dryer was also an added plus. Very well stocked kitchen. Beware coffee drinkers, only a mini coffee pot 5 cups. Floor has a slight slope leading into bedrooms/bathrooms. Great place. I have paid same amount for much less. We will be back.

Salty Dog
Salty Dog is really a salty dog. Kitchen sink stinks, ceiling tiles are water stained and some are hanging like their ready to fall, dead bolt lock does not "dead bolt" it's totally useless, living room blinds are missing, furniture is ripped/shredded, kitchen floor is duct taped, kitchen chairs are folding chairs' kitchen table is filthy, no cover on the stove vent fan, outside back door does not close, yard is not totally fenced, and the floors are so uneven you can feel like you're going to fall. I think I need to be compensated for for being dumb enough to stay there. As it is I came home a day early. PLEASE do not believe the pictures they show. PLEASE do not stay in this house.

Good location near the beach
The house is in a good location and close to the beach. The 2 baths and the kitchen appliances are relatively new and worked well. The house was comfortable, but the internet did not work very well. which also meant the TV kept going out The kitchen is large but could use some more more supplies like a colander, serving bowls, etc. The wooden kitchen table was very sticky and no matter how hard we tried to clean it, the stickiness did not go away. The local property manager was very responsive when our key accidentally fell through the crack in the deck near the front door. There was no spare and she sent someone over quickly to help retrieve the key. Overall we had a good time staying there.

Worst house ever stayed!
This house should be condemned!!! The floors are horribly uneven and makes it very difficult to walk from living room to either bathroom. Had to buy a knee brace for my 65 yo husband. All the rooms have uneven floors where floors are collapsing ariund them. Few new items..but house has no life and really rund down. Why?? why put your name on such a dilapidated home? We couldn't get no help from the # was given, and charging that cleaning fee for cobwebs and bird poop is wrong.

Needs repair, avoid
The interior of the house is very musty. There is water damage and parts of the ceiling have fallen out onto the laundry room. There are holes in the steps in front of the house. The floor is very unlevel and poses a fall risk. This is verging on unsafe living conditions. To add, we were told by the local Vacasa property manager that we would receive a partial refund as there were no other rentals available in the area. It has been nearly two weeks and no refund nor response despite following up with Vacasa.

Will Not Return or rent with VRBO & Vacasa again
The electrical outlet the tv and router are plugged into sizzles, bad electrical. If the router isn’t plugged in exactly right (it’s loose) there is no wifi or cable. The wifi is spotty to none and an unsecure connection. TV has no instructions, no internet for streaming, very frustrating Plugs don’t accommodate laptop three prong plugs. Many light switches and lights don’t work There is NO thermostat, it’s always either either hot or cold Sheets on one bed seemed dirty. The house doesn’t feel clean overall, drawers smell It’s an older house but there are some really gross things in corners, back entryway, mildew smells. Main bedroom curtain is see through, that and shades do not block any light Blinds in living room go up but don’t come down The first night I called Vacasa for internet problems. They said they filed a ticket but we never got any response. The rep on the phone should’ve told us about the local contact. It was dark and smallish print so I didn’t read the letter on the door with her number. The pictures are deceptive Trying to communicate while making reservation was hard, I got a "late payment" email after I paid for an extra night and the messaging cut off the body of the reply. Too much work, too much hassle I won’t book a VRBO with Vacasa again, this was the worst VRBO experience I’ve ever had.

Don't recommend
I pretty much never write reviews & obviously am not very good about reading them either. First the house wasn't all bad. The beds were comfortable & clean, kitchen appliances were newer & the bathrooms were great. The location is also excellent with access to everything. The house itself is old & pretty rundown. The first thing you notice when opening the door is the smell, very musty/dirty odor, probably from the carpet and/or furniture. The furniture is ripped & several things are broken (blinds, ceiling fan, electrical outlets). None of the windows have screens. The kitchen cabinets are very old, not very clean & difficult to open. The whole back of the house is ridiculous with obvious water damage, messed up floors & rotting wood. The back door does not open or close properly. In addition to all this there is an ant problem in the kitchen, don't leave food on the table. It seems like the owner is trying but the house needs A LOT of work. Would I rent this property again? NO

Nice location, not nice house.
Please don’t stay here. The location was good but the house was not. Over a hour and a half late to check in because of late cleaning staff. Originally 4pm, then they said 5:30pm, which became almost 6pm. Did receive a partial refund for that time tho. The sheets had hair in them, there was spiderwebs and dust everywhere, belongings from previous guests left in the closet. The blinds in living room were missing a significant amount of panels leading to zero privacy. The big bedroom was missing a curtain panel which had little privacy as well. The floors were all uneven through the house. The inner front door dead bolt was broken, only the bottom would lock. There was a leak in the window in by the washer and black mold was growing on the window. Will say that the floors and hard surfaces were super clean. The cleaning lady was nice. Had to contact support multiple times throughout the stay and was helped promptly each time by helpful associates. I’d rate customer service a 5/5 for the guy I spoke too. I was told I would receive a partial refund for the time I didn’t spend there because I left early due to house conditions and I am still waiting on it. The beach was so good. My favorite place to go too. I love it so much and it is a great location.
