"Over the food was nice, with great variety. The washroom has a sew smell. I booked the stay for a birthday and was disappointed they were do not have any special accommodation available even though I was willing to pay extra for. The onsen was only so-so."

"Absolutely wonderful room- king bed with private hot spring bath ( room 1127). Wonderful amenities, goodies, drinks in fridge, etc. spacious, clean, well appointed. Half board very fun! Discount tickets for Edo Wonderland. So much fun!! Only 30 minutes to Nikko sightseeing- we had a private driver take us around for the day. Highly recommend 3 nights! One to rest up, one to spend the day at Edo Wonderland, one to enjoy NIKKO. Very relaxing with history and culture, we really enjoyed this area!...

"The staff was very friendly and the rooms were comfortable. There was common space to eat, and food available for purchase at the market. Only a couple places to eat nearby, town is 20 minutes away by foot and busses were not as readily available as we had hoped. There are three busses that take you into town in the AM and only three available in the evening to return to the hotel. Both are by reservation only."

"The Hotel is very historic and designed by our favorite architect Frank Lloyd Wright…you can see clearly his influence.We only stayed one night out from Tokyo by Shinkansen.A short taxi to the temple and shrine in wooded surrounds was great and impressive.We treated ourselves to the fine dining/silver service menu for dinner and I did breakfast on the verandah type room while Julie slept in.Too windy..a gale ..and the Shinkansen’s stopped running so the trip back to Tokyo was twice as long..say...

"Everything was great except for a few issues: 1. The front door was hard to find. We had to walk about five minutes on an unpaved road to reach the "entrance," where we then had to take a lift to the reception. 2. The dinner and breakfast were decent, but for a rate of $620 per night for two people, we expected better quality. 3. The nightly rate on Expedia was listed for one person, even though we entered two guests for one room. This was misleading, and had we known, we might have...

"The hotel property is amazing. But don’t like the area. Everything closed around 5:00 pm. There was no restaurant s in the area and shopping, so we have to eat at the hotel. "

"Feels very upmarket from the entrance all the way to the room. The Japanese room I stayed in felt extremely large; like a 5-star hotel in Tokyo. The washbasin area looks modern and is well equipped with amenities, including a face steamer. Separate toilet is large. Bathtub is deep for a good soak with a nice view of the outside. Parking is limited in front so you need to drive further in or up the slope. May be inconvenient if you are alone with heavy luggage and arriving late. Some of the fixtures also need attention as the mixer switch at the bathtub (room 305) was broken with sharp edges; this can be a risk for children, those with poor eyesight or using it in low light. I did not use the hot springs as I spend most of the time exploring the area by car. Highly recommended for couples, lone travellers and small families."

"I stayed in a Capsule but everything was comfortable, all amenities were accessible and plase was clean. Just other guests using the cupsules area were not organized and clean. Area around the lake is beautiful and clean, be aware as everything around the shops and bus stopos around 6pm."
