I can’t say enough about this location! At first I was hesitant about the road between the house and the shoreline and asked Kerri about the traffic. She was right.. very little traffic and limited to residents. I’d guess ten vehicles passed by in four days, and there are speed bumps so they travel at a snails pace. The reviews are correct in that the house is on the ‘rustic’ side, but it has all the amenities and had plenty of room for our party of four. The flow from the back door was the kitchen, to the living room, to a nice enclosed patio/dining room, to the open front porch where the views of the lake are incredible! We used the two kayaks several times a day.
Although the kitchen was fully stocked, we used only the stove top and cooked all meals on the nice grill in the backyard. The fridge/freezer had food already in it, assuming that the house is used by the owner when not reserved, but we neatly moved things aside to give ourselves a dedicated shelf in the fridge and used the door of the freezer so my family knew what foods/drink I brought. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, truthfully.
I’ve stayed on Seneca Lake which is more commercialized, more traffic and more wineries. On Cayuga Lake, we traveled to about ten different wineries/distilleries all within about a 12 mile stretch. The views of the lake along the way made the ride worth it. There is even a winery not far from the entrance to our quiet street if you’re up for a walk (up a hill) when traveling from the house.
Booking was easy, communications were clear and the cancellation policy is very generous, too. Highly recommend for families with children, quiet girls getaway or anyone who is a water enthusiast!
Oh, and the walk out onto the private pier to view the skies at sunrise and sunset make for some beautiful pictures! Truly is an amazing location. We’ll be back - 100%!
