This property is very well maintained. I had already rented given all my research (this place hit all the marks!), but then heard from the owners later, with no solicitation, that they were investing in new enhancements. It is obvious that the owners are serious about creating a top notch place to stay. Immediately upon arrival, we were very pleased renting here. (Actually, we’ve been very pleased renting via VRBO for over a decade. I finally consolidated using a single VRBO account, but I always research the homes and locations extensively for reviews, location, attributes, etc. for a good match.) We’ve been very lucky, but our latest rental is just as good as the rest, if not better. I won’t repeat what you can read from past reviews for this home, but we’d rent here again for future visits. The home is centrally located. You can’t beat it for variety. This is our second long stay in the area (last time was west side of Seneca Lake). From this location, you can easily visit Watkins Glen State Park, Ithaca, Geneva, nearby trails, both Seneca Lake wine trails and Cayuga Lake trails, Taughannock Falls, etc. etc. Taughannock Falls is just 20 minutes down the road as is Seneca Lake. With that said, I have tips for future renters to enhance their stay:
There is a supermarket in Ovid that is really close, Big M. It’s small, but has a nice little selection. If you go there, be sure to visit the small baked goods/deli section in the back. They have very nice rolls and bread - great for burgers if you’re grilling using the home’s outdoor grill. Nearby in Ovid is also a small liquor wine/store. For more extensive needs, I suggest the ShurSave supermarket in Trumansburg. There’s a Kinney Drugs across the way. If you visit, Hazelnut Kitchen is a great spot for a bite. Daytrips to Niagara Falls and, also, to Anchor Bar to try the original Buffalo wings are easy to do. You can also reach Rochester for Dinosaur BBQ after biking the trails up there or hitting up a boat ride or bike ride along the Erie Canal. While in town, be sure to visit the Ithaca Farmers Market on weekends (our favorite in the whole US), Moosewood Restaurant for vegetarians, and especially a short walk of the gorges of Cornell campus or their free botanical gardens. Very clean and huge Walmarts can be found within 30 minutes in Ithaca or Watkins Glen for supplies, and be sure to hit up the Corning Glass museum for a day trip. We have lots more tips and you can’t go wrong.
