We arrived late after a long day of travel and were given a friendly reception and free cake! Who doesn't love free cake! Super comfy beds too. Win!

Hospital hotel.
I didn't realise this was Oslo hospital's Hotel, no reception as you walk in which was a surprise, it's on the 5th floor which isn't very well detailed. The rooms are super clean and spacious, the hotel has no parking you have to use the hospital car park and walk up to the hotel. Meals are shared in the canteen with the patients, while is not a show stopped, it just feels odd.

GOOD VALUE
WE STAYED FOR SEVERAL NIGHTS HERE, OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD!!! WE DID TAKE A TAXI FROM TRAIN STATION (VERY EXPENSIVE) YOU CAN TAKE THE SUBWAY AND GET OFF AT MONTEBELLO FOR 30 KRONA AND WALK 10 MINUTES FOLLOWING THE SIGNS TO RADIUM HOSPITAL IT IS IN A VERY QUIET AREA (DIFFICULT TO FIND INITIALLY), BREAKFAST VERY GOOD/PLENTIFUL NORWAY IS VERY EXPENSIVE, SO STARTING THE DAY WITH A GOOD BREAKFAST IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU WILL HAVE TO FACTOR IN COST OF TRAVELLING BY SUBWAY 30 KRONA ($5-6 CAN/USA) ONE WAY, TAKES 15-20 MINUTES TO CENTRE OF OSLO, STILL WORTH IT THOUGH ROOMS ARE VERY LARGE AND WELL MAINTAINED

Nice hotel
Hotel charged extra money 30 nok for internet, and also charged another 30 nok for TV or Tv-internet, which I never used. I leave a message for manager and ask him to contact me by email, but never get back from him

Nothing Included
This hotel strips down all possible amenities for your stay. If you want to watch something on tv, you get about 8 minutes of programming before it asks you to pay more. If you want internet, that is also going to cost you. If you want breakfast, that normally will cost you as well, however it was included with our stay for some reason. Also be warned there is nothing around this location, maybe some houses a hospital and a 711. Its a very odd place and I would highly recommend to look elsewhere for a hotel if you need to stay in Oslo. However for all my complaining the rooms were very nice, and very well kept. The reception staff was very nice and breakfast was good as well.

Comfortable
On arriving at the hotel I was surprised to find there was no reception on entering. There were lots of signs, all in Norwegian only in a corridor with two lifts. Peering through a large internal glass window, I saw doctors, nurses and patients milling about two floors below. As they were the only people in sight, and there was no reception, I went down and asked one of the nurses where reception was. It turned out to be two floors up - you take the lift and reception is to be found near them. The top two floors of the building are a hotel, with apparently 70% of guests being family of patients receving radiotherapy at the Radiumhospitalet. I found this quite strange but soon got used to it - there is no hospital smell, paraphernalia etc. to be encountered anywhere in the hotel. The room was very comfortable, with a good-sized TV, armchair, desk and desk chair, and a comfy bed. The windows were huge and double glazed, the floor wood. I could see the main fjord from my window which was lovely, and it wasn't overlooked. The bathroom had a great, powerful hot shower and the whole room was immaculate. Very comfortable.

This hotel leaves a good after-taste
Very friendly and helpful staff, great service, included buffet breakfast very good, especially considering how extremely expensive Norwegian prices are. The bathroom is quite big in comparison to other Oslo hotels. The hotel is only a short walk to the Metro station and the suburb is only a ten minute train ride from the city centre, within public transport zone one (cheap ticket). If I make it to Oslo again, I´ll undoubtedly go back to Hotell Montebello.

Too far from town
Not suitable for business travel as the hotel is too far from Oslo city centre. Also you are in a hospital so the overall feel of the place is a little depressing. Rooms were clean, bright and quiet though.

Great place...with a couple caveats
There is a lot to like about the Radiumhospitalet--if you're aware of the location's shortcomings. My room was extremely clean and had the most comfortable bed I had during my month in Norway. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though there was some miscommunication about WiFi. I thought it was optional for purchase but they told me I couldn't get it at all in my room. Instead they let me borrow the key to a library on the fifth floor, where the staff showed me how to get a 24-hour password. It worked out in the end, but was not as convenient as expected. I booked it for a Friday-Monday stay after looking at the map and deciding it was near enough to walk to things I wanted to see, such as the museums on the Bygdoy peninsula. Upon arrival I discovered it was further out than I'd thought and that area of the city is not really set up for walking. I would have had to take a circuitous route of several miles to get to Bygdoy, for example. Public transportation is expensive and fairly limited at the location. Even with the unlimited travel pass I bought, it was still difficult to get around outside work day hours or off the main metro route. My flight left Oslo early Monday morning, which meant getting a $$$ cab to the nearest Flybus stop (the metro was not running at that hour). Also, there are no stores or restaurants (other than the limited hospital cafe) anywhere near the place. If you've got your own car, not a problem, but on foot it's something to keep in mind.

We loved this Hotel & the receptionist, who we were surprised to discover was from England! We had booked are tickets months before fan's of Morten Harket, but had booked the hotel one week before with a 20% off there full price I was very happy. We have friends in Oslo so be very happy to stay there again. Very colourful that's cought my eye too!

Very quiet hotel. Easy to find (coming from Oslo center on the metro, go over the bridge at the station and down the hill, where it is signposted turn right ) , it's not far. Good breakfasts.

Super nice but very far
Ok, I didn't realize how far this hotel really is from downtown Oslo. It is very nice, super modern ( and if you don't mind being around people who are sick and receiving treatment), it is great. However, it is a really long way, and the directions to the public transportation were poor. We just started taking taxis, which is extremely expensive in Oslo. For the amount of money you might spend on taxis back and forth, you are probably better off staying downtown.

Fab hotel for holidaymakers!
brilliant breakfast. vclean bedroom vmodern and vsafe and the most comfortable beds. downside is paying for films but realistically in comparison to prices in the rest of Oslo paying E3 for recent released films isn't t bad! the staff are fantastic and have terrific English and are incredibly helpful from check in to check out!! hot drinks and fresh fruit free all day which is a lovely extra! Location of the hotel is very handy- ONCE you find it for any travellers using public transport get the 6 T-Bane(train) to montebello from the center and it is sign posted from there a 5 min walk tops! only 10 mins on the t-bane to central and the trains are v regular- 10 min wait max! in a very safe area Ideal if you are travelling for leisure and intend on sightseeing as there isn't many extra facilities in the hotel but oslo has so much to offer having a safe comfortable modern hotel available to you makes such a difference it is not a spa hotel or resort but it serves you with a private contemporary comfortable bedroom with large bathroom big shower toiletries big wardrobes plenty of lights and lamps comfortable big beds good black out curtains flat screen tv and a fridge which is great in their hot summers for drinks! Sincere thanks to all the staff!

Good value for money
The hotel room was clean, spacious and comfortable, representing good value for money. Conversely the stay experience is unavoidably 'hospital' and in a very suburban setting. This is reinforced by the feeling of a minimal staff presence. However all service functions were efficiently carried out. Drive-to access from the motorway is easy but on-site parking is some distance from the hotel itself and expensive.

Another hospital hotel....yer girlfriend might not be too impressed.. but for a business traveller or someone who wants no frills good accomodation then this place is excellent! Bit of a 'mare to find it from the train station but once there, the staff are friendly and offer modern hotel services. My single room was spotless, modern and very quiet. High speed internet is 49nok. Breakfast buffet was pretty basic but ok. For business travellers... a very good find.....for a romantic weekend may I suggest looking elsewhere. Very good VFM!

Want to visit friends in the hospital in Oslo?
... if so this hotel is just for you. The rooms are actually on the floors about the wards. A strange set-up, but having said that it was a perfectly ok. it is however located several metro stops out of town and further 10 minute walk from the metro down a steep hill. It’s also a residential area so there is nothing else to do there. Room was good though the lock was broken on the door so we had to be let in by the receptionist every time we returned. We were there two nights and the room wasn’t cleaned while we were there – but maybe the cleaner couldn’t get in either. Not recommended unless you have a sick relative in the hospital.

Weekend City Break
Nice modern and clean hotel. Convenient to the metro station Montebello and 10 to 15mins from Oslo city Centre. Use the underpass after getting off the metro from city centre and the hospital is signposted from the bottom of the hill. The hill from the hotel is quite steep and would not be suitable for anyone with reduced mobility. The breakfast was good and hot and cold food was available. What no review told us was that off sales of alcohol are not available after 6pm on Saturday or on Sunday. Stock up before to avoid having to pay bar prices, which are extremely high compared to Uk.

holiday in hospital,
While the hotel was clean and the reception staff friendly and helpful that is where the good report ends. We were not told that it is a hotel for hospital patients and their visitors. the menu for the "resturant" (hospital cafeteria) showed several choices for meals, wrong!!!! one choice per night. Serving till 8.00pm, Wrong!!!!!! arrive at 7.40 and get told there is only bread and ham available as they are "closing soon" Breakfast, salad vegetables, choice of cornflakes for ceral, hot foods: egg, sausage, potato balls. didn't bother with lunch!! our original room had 2 single beds, one being a camp bed about 4 inches lower than the other. We did get transferred to another after complaining, If we hadn't caught a taxi, which cost us 265NK then we would not have found it and there was no taxi stand near the train station. Once the reception had told us how to get there it wasn't really that far, apart from the walk up the steep hills. View of Oslo, non existant, once past the hospital you could see it. overall it was not the best experience we have had.
