The General's Hideaway is a newly renovated vacation rental opened in late May of 2017 in Gettysburg's wine country. As you enter the General you will immediately feel welcomed by an expansive open floor plan spanning the living room with ample seating for your whole family along with a pool table for extra fun. Walking further you will start to enter the original structure that has been around for over 100 years. Nice hideaway
The house is very clean and comfortable. Great location out of town if you want some space from the crowd. But close enough to be anywhere in town quickly.

Nice stay near Gettysburg.
We rented the house for our one night stay in Gettysburg. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside at the table and then playing pool in the evening. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

This is a really cute place and especially great if you are traveling with pets. Really clean and well stocked. It was perfect for us, but we were out all day and really only there to sleep. Beds were comfortable too.

Cute Gettysburg Country House!!
Very cute place, we had fun playing a game of pool too. The owners even provided a book which included things to do around the area, places to eat, wineries to visit and fun tours to go on. The owners are very detail oriented and we had everything provided for us that we needed during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here!!

Great idea lace to stay
This house is in a great location for easy access to Gettysburg. We brought two of our dogs and they love the place. It can get a little chilly downstairs, but nothing an extra sweatshirt can’t fix. Great communication with owner!

review of General's Hideway
We enjoyed our stay at General's Hideway. Everything we needed was there and the property was perfect for our pet. We also appreciated the way you organized the restaurants in your information book making it very easy to find everything and there were plenty of hooks in the bathroom. I think the biggest draw for us was the closeness to the Gettysburg battlefield which was extremely convenient. Thank you for being so thoughtful for your guests.

Loved the General’s Hideaway
My BIL and I used this property as our base for exploring the town of Gettysburg and the Battlefield. When we were home it was very spacious. There was enough room for both of us to have some alone time. The property is close to the road, so on a couple of occasions we could hear the traffic. Not an issue at night because we were so tired.

Great place to stay while visiting Gettysburg
The General's Hideaway is near enough to be handy to Gettysburg yet far enough away to be private and served by Uber Eats. Our hostess was wonderfull. The cottage was extremely clean and well appointed with everything you need. Just bring your cloths and food. You dont need anything else. Even your pets are greeted with treets and toys.We will be back.

Second Visit
We decided to return here for another visit and stay at the same place since it was perfect last time! The description is exactly as listed. The kitchen is perfect for cooking in, or grilling on the patio area. Be sure to bring firewood if you can, you will not be disappointed with the views in the sky by fire light. The beds are very comfortable and the home is cozy and welcoming. The house location is super close to the battlefield and many attractions, very east to find. There are many wineries, cideries and distilleries. Great shops down town for fun shopping and taking in the day. Hosts are super helpful with local info and making sure your stay is perfect! We will return again, there is way too much to do in the area! Thank you so much for the memories!

Exceeded Expectations!!!
What you read in the description is EXACTLY it and more!! The house was very clean and has everything you need. We packed toiletries, but just as you read they are there if you would forget. The towels and sheets are top notch, remember there is a washer and dryer so you really do not need to bring extra if you are staying longer. My boys, 16 and 21 enjoyed relaxing and the pool table was a lot of fun for hanging out together and having great conversation. It is right by the main road, which makes for a very easy in and out plus to find when you arrive. The Battlefield is literally right there, 5 minute ride. There is a pizza shop on the main street too, not even 5 minutes, There are two local wineries within 2 miles, we visited one. I am almost afraid to brag about this place because it will book so fast!!! Owners had a super fast text response and were excellent communicators with everything. As a mom, I highly recommend this place, My boys agree and my oldest said he prefers to do this over a hotel, because it is such a relaxed setting. We will be back, there is so much to do in Gettysburg that we didn't finish it all and this house is the best place for us to stay to see more. See you summer of 2022, we are staying longer too!!

Great use of space and old wood in what appears to have once been a restaurant. Loved the open mess and the use of the old wood on walls and floor. Quiet and relaxing place to meet with family. Comfortable sleeping

Gettysburg Address
We booked our stay on short notice and were very happy with this rental. It was spotless, nicely decorated, and had a big yard for us to walk our dog in. The owners also provided us with a dog crate so we didn’t have to bring our own. We enjoyed the weekend in Gettysburg and were surprised to discover that we were visiting on the anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Naturally, we had to go see the ceremony at the Battlefield. It was great and the people were wonderful.

Relaxing weekend
We had a relaxing weekend at the hideaway . This property is minutes from everything you'd want to visit in Gettysburg. The apple festival was amazing. The round barn was beautiful. We also enjoyed the battlefield tours and ghost hunting. As far as the property, very cozy. And the owners were very accommodating. The traffic was high at times but it is expected for that area. Over all we would rent her again.
