Beautiful converted stone barn, huge open fire, panoramic view of countryside

'The Bothy” is a beautifully converted traditional stone barn providing luxurious self-catering accommodation in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains. This recently restored building with exposed wood, brick and stone creates a warm relaxed setting from which to explore the natural beauty of the area. “The Bothy” retains all the beauty of the old without compromising on comfort. It is situated in Rouskey, a small hamlet along the Ownereagh valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. It is an ideal spot from which to explore the whole of the north of Ireland being approx one hour's drive from the north, east and west coasts.

Home Away From Home!
This beautiful property is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Omagh, County Tyrone and is one which is sure to please. Featuring two bathrooms and two bedrooms, it will easily accommodate a family on vacation and looking for a place to stay in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains! The location offers a very convenient location to many major attractions including the Beaghmore Standing Stones, the OM Dark Sky Park, the Gortin Glen Forest Park, and three giant sculptures who tower over the landscape are a sure hit with adults and children alike. We were delighted with the welcoming basket as provided by Bernie and Charlie who live right across the street and made sure we had tea, coffee, milk, sugar, a cake, as well as a fire which was prepared to warm us upon our arrival. They took time to check in on us to see if we needed anything else, and spent some time chatting while exploring our Irish roots and our histories. They could not have made us feel more welcome! The one issue we did have was intermittent wifi. We had reached out to the owner but did not receive a response. Bernie and Charlie did check in with us three days later and let us know that this issue is problematic throughout the whole area which is beyond their control. Definitely recommended as a place to stay but do so for more than three nights (we did six nights) as to allow ourselves the time to explore this stunning area of the north of Ireland without trying to cram everything in! 5 Stars!

Really difficult to leave!
Oh my goodnes...this is the most wonderful place! So many small touches that made it special, plus it's extremely comfortable, the hosts are lovely, flowers - gorgeous, view -spectacular...I would love to go back for a longer stay. I gave the location only three stars because there isn't anything in walking distance, but there are stores, pubs and restaurants a shortish drive away. Be warned that the restaurants seem to have very limited hours. For us this was a small price to pay, but it might be an issue for others, or for those making a longer stay. We were happy with each of the places we stayed - in Dublin, Derry, Belfast, and Bushmills, but this was by far the most memorable.

We had a wonderful stay! Easy to find and centrally located for all of our excursions. Charlie and Bernie are wonderful and generous hosts. The Bothy has everything you could need- well equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. The heated floor in the downstairs bath was a nice touch! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The Secret Garden
My Family & I have just spent two wonderful nights at this beautiful, charismatic, converted barn with unbelievable views of the Sperrin Mountains. Bernadette had kindly left some bits for us; milk, bread, butter, coffee, tea & sugar. We felt this was a lovely touch as the cottage is well equipped with everything you would need. We had a toddler with us & a cot/stair gates were provided. A BBQ & outdoor seating area where we cooked one evening. We touched lucky and got great weather. The cottage itself is beaming with charm and the garden compliments it beautifully. We would most definitely choose this place for a family or friend trip away in the future. Highly recommend.

Beautiful part of the world
This property is delightful and peaceful with amazing views. It has everything you need including a lovely fireplace. Thank you Charlie for having the fire lit, welcoming us home. It is suitable for a romantic weekend away, a longer stay (thoroughly recommend) or for a family. We would happily make a return visit - only wish we could have stayed longer (although it was already 6 nights).

The Old Bothy Rousky
The property was beautiful and had everything needed for a holiday including a fantastic view. The welcome was wonderful and the groceries provided were very welcome, I forgot how good home made bread and jam could taste. The wifi was a bit ropey sometimes, but not to the point where it hindered our enjoyment of the property. The whole family loved it.

Beautiful barn conversion
Escaping the desert sun of Phoenix allows us to fine such charming places as The Bothy. We picked this area this year so we could attend the Open Championships in Portrush, but the cottage is so nice and peaceful that it was the highlight of our stay. Charles and Bernadette are exceptional hosts and had prepared the cottage with a few little extras as well as everything you would expect. They are always on hand to answer any queries that may arise. This converted barn is very well represented in the pictures and we were sorry when we had to leave. My wife will always miss the morning view from the conservatory with her first cup of coffee. They barn retains its original character while offering all the modern amenities and appliances. Rouskey is just a small hamlet and you have to drive a few miles for shops, bars and restaurants, but it is a great location for exploring the western counties of Northern Ireland and the very north of Ireland. The are several hikes in the area. If you are looking for a great restaurant, we can recommend The Millstone on the north side of Omagh - just a 15 minute drive - great food and exceptional prices. Thanks for making our stay so great. Kath & Brian James Sun City West, Arizona

Spacious and homely
This is a brilliant cottage for accommodation. We spent six very comfortable, warm and cozy nights in this delightful cottage and village. Bernadette and Charlie are wonderful hosts. Bernadette made us feel completely at home. The cottage is very well equipped with everything a holidaymaker might need. While the whole cottage is beautiful, the highlight is the stunning picture window in the sunroom at the back, which kept showing us amazing and changing views, including a snowing landscape as we woke up on St Patrick's Day. Highly recommended.

A little gem in Northern Ireland
The Bothy is a beautifully converted barn with all the modern amenities you need on a holiday, set in a lovely location with views of the surrounding hills. We used the property as a base for our tour of Northern and some of Southern Ireland and found the location ideal for this purpose. The owners are welcoming and the little extras were great. The property is very clean and a very good standard and there is plenty of room. Glad to have free wifi as the mobile signal was a little intermittent - but then again we are used to the countryside and the quirks that come with it! Would recommend this property to friends and happily visit again if we ventured to NI.

A Magical Place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bothy in the Sperrin Mountains. After a busy day out and about, it was very comforting to come back to this beautifully renovated barn and in the five days that we were there, we never tired of the lovely pastoral view from the sun room. Highly recommended.

Beautiful accommodations!
My family and I, 5 adults, stayed at the Bothy in May. It is so lovingly rebuilt and maintained. It is pure joy to just sit and look out that picture window onto the valley and hills beyond. Charles and Bernadette were wonderful hosts. We stayed for four days and saw much of Nothern Ireland from this home.
