Under The Volcano
We found a location and setting that is wonderful, providing excellent views of the sunset over the Caribbean Sea through the trees. Plenty of local wildlife and vegetation to observe. The 5-10 minute walk to Woodlands beach is easy. After walking back to the villa, you may feel like a quick dip in the pool. A car is essential for access to food shopping, the various “must visit” sights and any of the marked nature trails.
The villa itself is displaying its life exposed to the Caribbean elements and use as rental accommodation. Be careful with bare feet on any of the exposed wooden decking. The materials for a full roofing replacement job are stored on site and the need for their installation is clearly becoming very urgent. Inside, the age of the furnishings is obvious. The kitchen is equipped with basic rudimentary needs. The cookware is mismatched and ill fitting, the tableware is a mixture of mismatched and badly chipped pieces.
There were shortages upon arrival, including a coffee maker, that the property management folk quickly resolved to meet the needs for four. They also provided instructions on the use of the ceiling fans and lighting controls, along with the two-handed door latch mechanisms. Weekly servicing by the cleaner, Ann, was done efficiently.
Being adaptable, we and our guests had a thoroughly enjoyable month in Montserrat, continuing our exploration all over the island. We will surely return for another vacation.
