Unique Barn Conversion in Saddleworth

The Barn originally part of Shiloh Farm dates back to the 17th century and has been recently converted from stables keeping the old charm and character of the building. As well as two beautiful double bedrooms, an open plan kitchen diner, there is a comfortable lounge with a large sofa. There is a small terrace outside the barn which is the perfect place to have a drink in the evening sun. We also have a 100m2 garden which is securely fenced, with a patio set to enjoy the summer sun.

Situated amongst the Saddleworth Hills, people staying at this property will have the ability to enjoy the large areas of open countryside with many local footpaths to explore, with stunning views across Saddleworth to the right and views over Manchester to the left. Parking available next to the property.

During your stay you can enjoy the entire house, the terrace outside and a huge 100m2 lawn garden with views of farmland and the surrounding hills perfect for relaxing on a summers day.

The barn bay not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility as there are steps to the front door and to the garden.

On the Edge of the Peak District National Park, Shiloh Farm is situated a 30 minute walk from the village center (Delph) offers a selection of pubs and restaurants, with cuisine available from traditional English fish and chips, to Tapas and Indian cuisine. There are 3 pubs within walking distance the closest being The Roebuck, (10 minutes away) offering good home cooked food and stunning views of Oldham and Manchester on a clear day. In addition to this Uppermill is a 10 minute drive, with a great offering cafes, bars restaurants, museums and walks on offer there is something for everyone.

To enjoy the area you will need a car. The nearest public transport is about a mile away, from the Metrolink station there are 4 trams an hour into Manchester City Center. There’s many public footpaths and the lanes in the area have very little traffic, so walking and cycling are also great ways to explore.

Remote getaway!
The barn conversion was comfortable and clean. It was however, more difficult to get to than normal, navigating down single lane roads. We sent an inquiry to the landlord and failed to receive a response, which was disappointing.

Wedding weekend getaway at The Stables in Oldham
Lovely converted stables in Oldham, about 45 minutes from Manchester. Both bedrooms are identical, the bathroom is quite spacious, and the downstairs has the den/kitchen. Don, our host was very communicative and helpful. I didn’t receive the check in instructions from VRBO for some reason, so he quickly texted them to us, resolving the issue of our not being able to get in or access the Wi-Fi. We enjoyed several long walks to neighboring villages. We didn’t rent a car, but if you aren’t big hikers like we are, you may want to rent one as it can take a while to get an Uber or you may have to give the driver detailed instructions over the phone since GPS can be a bit dodgy. Overall, we enjoyed our time at the property!

Beautiful Saddleworth
Worked really recommend staying at The Old Stables. Fabulous quiet location, great country walks and picturesque villages nearby and walking distance lovely dog friendly pub/ restaurant The Roebuck Inn. The only issue we had was only 2 pin hairdryer available but luckily borrowed one from the neighbour next door and Dominic assured me he would sort this out for the next guests. Will definitely stay there next time we come to Manchester.

5 days stay with friends
We love quiet place & being close to nature. Our cottage was in the middle of the hill with only very few houses nearby, which was what we wanted. Loved 5 days of wonderful stay, the cottage had all the facilities we needed. Shops were nearby, no need to go anywhere to enjoy wonderful walk. Overall we had amazing time here 😊
