The moment you turn onto the private road that leads to this authentic Maine cottage, you will feel as though you have stepped back in time. This cottage was built by the owners great-great grandfather in 1920 and the bones have stayed the same since then. When you enter into the cottage, you will feel the stress of today start to slip away and a slower pace take hold. The exposed beams and beadboard walls are remnants of architecture design you don't find anymore and hold a history of summers past.
This cottage sleeps up to eight, with one full bath and one half bath.
The first floor has one bedroom with a double bed, as well as a sofa bed in the living area. The master bedroom on the second floor has amazing woodwork on the ceiling and walls and has a comfortable king size bed. Also on the second floor is a bedroom with two twin beds and a window that overlooks the pond out back. All bedrooms have window air conditioning units to keep you comfortable during the summer months.
In the main living room, you will find the original hardwood floors and fireplace (currently not in working order) that enhance the beauty of this old cottage. A large, floor-to-ceiling window allows for great, natural light in the main living area. Out the door from the living area, is a large, wraparound porch with a stunning view of Perkins Cove and the ocean. There is a propane grill and plenty of parking for three cars. Pets are considered on an individual basis.
We live on the property and are available to answer questions and offer help whenever it is needed. We have a young son and daughter who are always excited to help us greet new guests and will also share their favorite spots to visit in Ogunquit.
My husband's family has been in this area since the 1630's, and therefore has a rich history in Ogunquit and York. His great-great-grandfather, Henry Weare built the Hillcrest which is adjacent to the property. When groups coming up from Philadelphia thought they didn't have enough room in the Hillcrest, he built the cottage along with two other houses for families to stay.
