"We booked to stay at Haus Saarland am Rennsteig. On arriving at the hotel we found it was closed and a notice telling us to go to another hotel, Hotel Thuringenschanze which was about 0.5km away. Since we had arrived by public transport we had to walk there with our luggage. On checking in at the new hotel we were not offered Oberhof guest cards. "Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und eignet sich für Besucher 60+, die gerne in vergangenen Zeiten schwelgen. Modern ist anders. Es liegt im Tal, ist daher ziemlich dunkel. Ich würde es als Durchgangsstation für Wanderungen empfehlen, aber nicht für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Das Frühstück war reichlich und das Personal freundlich."
