Kump Cottage, Novo mesto, Slovenia

Relax in this picture-perfect cottage on the hillside, just 10 minutes from the beautiful city of Novo Mesto, in the heart of the idyllic Dolenjska region. This charming house sleeps up to 6 people and makes the ideal destination for a family or friends looking to escape from it all.

Laid out over the first and second floors of a traditionally built cottage, access is up a flight of steps to a balcony with a large table for meals al fresco. The front door leads into an open-plan living area. The décor is an attractive combination of wooden beams and stone floors with contemporary furniture. The seating area is furnished with a large corner sofa and a flat-screen TV. Next to this is a dining table and the kitchen is adjacent to that. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and coffee machine.

An attractive wooden staircase leads from the living room up to a landing on the second floor and further bedrooms.

The outside space has been carefully considered and includes a vine-covered terrace with a fire pit, where guests can relax and enjoy the panoramic views over the valley.

Sleeping
Bedroom 1: The master bedroom is on the first floor. This spacious bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, drawers and a large table.
Bedroom 2: On the second floor, this cosy bedroom is furnished with a double bed and a wardrobe.
Bedroom 3: Tucked under the eaves on the second floor, this bedroom has a double bed and a wardrobe.

Bathroom
The separate bathroom has a shower, basin and WC.

Location
In addition to its famous vineyards, the Dolenjska region is known for its range of activities that appeal to adventurous travellers, including skydiving, rafting or canoeing, hiking and cycling. For something more relaxing try the restorative thermal waters at Smarjeske Toplice (15 minutes).

Back to the wine! There are many excellent vineyards in the Krka River Valley, several under 15 minutes from the cottage. Most are open to visitors so make sure you book a tour and a tasting, and then pick up your favourite to enjoy at home.

The beautiful city of Novo Mesto was built on a bend in the Krka River the city has remained untouched over the centuries, except for its modern central market which is in the heart of the historic town. Here visitors will be able to find the best local produce to cook at home. Otherwise, lose yourselves in the winding medieval streets and enjoy the stunning architecture.

The cottage is only 45 minutes from Ljubljana. So it is a great option for a day trip from the cottage.

Ljubljana’s international airport is a 1-hour drive.
