I am not impressed by lofty entrance foyers or grand ballrooms, or a million facilities I never have time to use. The Travelodge is in a converted office block. This provides good clean quiet basic accommodation with no frills you don't want. I stayed in a family room with my girlfriend while touring Nottingham and it was great, and very cheap (under 30 pounds for the room for both of us), cheaper than B&B. The room was very clean and in good condition, better than some 4 stars i have been in. The bed and pillows etc were comfortable and clean. We found a nice pub 100 metres away for breakfast in the main square for a 2 pounds full English breakfast, cheaper than the 7.50 pounds in the hotel. Good pubs including the very old Trip to Jerusalem or the Salutation within short walk, or you can drink in the bar at the hotel if desperate. Why pay more? Only disadvantage is the lack of car parking but they have a deal with the NCP opposite, 5 minutes walk, for 30% discount so only 10 pounds for 24 hours. Save your money for enjoying yourself, not lining the hotelier's pocket!
