Roughton is a small, picturesque village located in North Norfolk, just 3 miles south of the popular seaside town of Cromer. Known for its peaceful countryside atmosphere and proximity to both the coast and the Norfolk Broads, Roughton makes an excellent base for visitors looking to explore the region’s natural beauty, charming towns, and historic attractions.
The village itself is surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it a great spot for walking and enjoying nature. Roughton Common offers scenic trails and woodlands, perfect for quiet strolls or picnics.
The bustling seaside town of Cromer is only a 10-minute drive from Roughton. Visitors can enjoy Cromer’s famous pier, sandy beaches, and seaside charm, including traditional fish and chips and the locally renowned Cromer crab. Cromer also has a variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants, as well as family attractions such as Amazona Zoo and the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum, which tells the story of one of the town’s most famous lifeboatmen.
The Norfolk Broads, one of the UK’s most famous national parks, is easily accessible from Roughton. Just a short drive away, visitors can explore the vast network of rivers and lakes by boat, kayak, or on foot. Popular nearby towns for starting your Broads adventure include Wroxham and Horning.
