We were hung up on twice when we initially called this place to cancel our reservation - a male employee told us "there is no cancellation policy" and "good luck" before hanging up on us. When we arrived an older woman told us that their cancellation policy is normally two weeks in advance, but she did accommodate us by giving us a bigger room for the two nights which was nice of her to do.
Although the room was close to the beach it did not distract enough from the condition of the hotel. The first thing you see are grounds that are totally neglected and unkempt, but the first thing you smell in the room is a moldy basement, the kind your grandma doesn't even do laundry in. There were ACTUALLY basement centipedes crawling on the ceiling and walls. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the cabinets smelled of pure gag-inducing mold, there was black mold on the ceiling above the shower, and when we tried to move the blinds that covered the sliding-glass door, 2 blinds promptly fell off and broke on the ground. If this room were $100-150 per night, I would have endured it without a complaint. The room WAS spacious and we WERE a walk from the beach. But for $220 per night?! I should at least have peace of mind that bugs won't be crawling on me while I sleep and that I won't turn into a black mold spore by the time I leave.
