You can drive up into the camping compound to load and unload, but then we prefer for you to move your vehicle to a near-by parking area so your camping area feels natural and spacious and we prevent oil/gas in highly flammable area. Plenty of room for vehicles with boats/trailers to park.
We prefer to meet with you when you arrive so we can get you set up properly and address any issues or rules so you have a positive experience while visiting Willow Springs. We are only a text or phone call away, and live close to the camping area.
We are surrounded by outstanding outdoor recreation! Oregon Creek State Park is only 7 minutes away. You'll pass the South Yuba River State Park on your way here. Bridgeport (with the longest covered bridge in the US!) is about 10 minutes away. Lots of hiking trails, river viewing and swimming are available at all of these places. 30 minutes up Highway 49 is the town of Downieville, a mountain biking mecca. The town of North San Juan features a small cafe, pizzeria and thrift store. We suggest doing grocery shopping when you go through Grass Valley or Nevada City.
You will drive into the camping compound to load and unload, but then move your vehicle to a near-by parking area. This keeps the camping area feeling natural and spacious. The parking area has plenty of room for large vehicles with boats/trailers. There is also RV parking with full/partial hook-ups for additional fee.
All guests are required to sign a Release of Liability before staying on the property. When you inquire about renting, a link to view and download this release form will be sent to you. Children can be included on their guardian's form. You can print it out and bring with you, and it will be collected when you arrive.
There are 3 resident dogs that live on the property. Sasha is a friendly Belgian Malinois and her side-kick, Archie. Raj is a long-haired chihuahua. They will not be in your camping area, but may be outside the community kitchen. Please DO NOT feed them. If they are an issue for you in ANY way, please let us know and they will be kept inside.
During fire season, we follow CalFire regulations. Most of the time campfires are allowed, but during occasional "red flag" days they may be prohibited. We have no control over these regulations and they are based on conditions (wind, humidity, temperature, fire danger, etc)
Willow Springs is a working farm, and we strive to be environmentally conscious around issues of sustainability, recycling and landfills. We ask our guests who stay with us to join in.
Sustainability: we build our own healthy soils without buying oil-based chemical fertilizers. You can help us by contributing your food waste into our composting system. This also saves food items from going into landfills, where rotting food produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Did you know that we could reduce greenhouse emissions by 6-8% simply by keeping food waste out of landfills? You can reduce your personal carbon footprint with these simple composting procedures. There are several food waste buckets for you to scrape all unwanted food items into.
Recycling: reduce items going to landfills by placing all recyclable containers into the blue bins. Please EMPTY containers of all liquid first.
Trash: All trash has to be brought into the county transfer station and paid to be disposed of, by us. Reducing trash has very practical implications besides environmental awareness (like keeping our campground affordable). Anything that can't be composted or recycled can go in the trash. We provide 5 full cans/group/stay of trash disposal as part of your rental. After that, we charge a $10/can disposal fee.

A magical retreat in the heart of the Gold Country
Our family stayed at the campsite for a weekend where we had gone rafting and wanted to spend more time enjoying the local rivers. The hosts were fantastic, treating us more like family showing up to visit than guests at a campground. They helped us get settled and were available with tips and recommendations for the area. The property is expertly set up for groups of all types, from campers and glampers to a full wedding party in the main retreat center. The gardens were amazing! We spent a long time touring them and marveling at the beautifully tended crops and fruit trees. Our timing was good (August) to be able to sample stone fruits that were bursting on the branches of all the trees at once. We look forward to visiting again with groups of friends!
